Chapter 41: 241. Surgrey

The ward was very quiet. Wei Mama smiled and looked at Wei Changfeng, “Have you had a nightmare?”

Wei Changfeng seemed to have not woken up from the dream. He gave a reluctant smile and nodded, “Yes.”

Wei Mama smiled, “How can you still have nightmares? You are not a young boy now! Come and have the porridge. It was Le’an who brought it.”

Wei Changfeng got down from the bed, rubbed his face, and said, “I’ll go wash my face first.”

After he finished, he went straight to the bathroom.

Qi Le’an heard the sound of running water and after a while, Wei Changfeng came out. Qi Le’an handed him a tissue. Wei Changfeng wiped his face and returned to his usual gentleness.

He asked Wei Mama, “How do you feel?”

Wei Mama shrugged, “How can I feel? I’m really feeling good! But I don’t think you look well. Eat some food quickly!”

Wei Changfeng asked Qi Le’an if he had eaten before. Qi Le’an nodded and gave up the place by the side of the bed to him. Then Wei Changfeng sat down and started having porridge.

He didn’t know if he himself was hungry or not but he just bolted down porridge anyway. Qi Le’an asked, “Do you want to eat more?”

Wei Changfeng shook his head and asked, “Where’s Sis?”

Qi Le’an answered, “She seemed to still be asleep when I left.”

Wei Changfeng nodded and started to look at his phone. When he saw the photo sent by Qi Le’an, he couldn’t help but smile.

Qi Le’an turned on the TV for Wei Mama and it was tuned to a variety show. Wei Mama laughed while watching, “Hey! It’s very interesting!”

When Wei Changfeng saw that it was a repeat of Entertainment Challenge, he said to Wei Mama, “Le’an has appeared in this show. I will play it for you another day.”

Wei Mama was overjoyed and said, “Okay, okay! But recently, I feel that my eyesight is not good… Do I need to get presbyopia glasses?”

Qi Le’an felt a little upset.

Wei Changfeng smiled and said, “Okay, I will accompany you to the optician’s by then.”

Wei Mama yawned and closed her eyes.

The ward where Wei Mama was living was a suite. There was a bed next to patient’s, and there was also a small lounge for the family members to rest. Qi Le’an persuaded Wei Changfeng, “Wei Sama, just go to have a sleep, I’ll accompany Mom.”

Wei Changfeng shook his head and said, “I can’t sleep.”

So Qi Le’an sat on the sofa with him and Wei Changfeng asked, “How are An Cheng and Little Orange?”

“Both of them have fallen asleep,” Qi Le’an said, “They looked particularly sleepy.”

Wei Changfeng’s eyes gleamed with some gentleness.

This time, Wei Changfeng said he couldn’t sleep, and he really didn’t sleep for the most of the night. The two of them leaned against each other in a daze. Soon, Wei Changfeng and the doctor came in together. The doctor gave Wei Mama a routine check, took her temperature and asked her feelings while she looked relaxed.

By noon, the results of the surgery were revealed in advance. Wei Xin’an and Wei Changfeng went to listen while Qi Le’an stayed in the ward with Wei Mama looked very relaxed.

Wei Mama suddenly said, “Le’an, I want to ask you about something.”

Qi Le’an didn’t know what to say.

Sis Wei and Wei Changfeng looked at Qi Le’an at the same time, and Qi Le’an was speechless.

Seeing the reactions of her son and daughter, Wei Mama confirmed her suspicions and asked, “What is it?”

Wei Changfeng nodded.

Wei Mama took a deep breath and lay down. Sis Wei lowered her head and started to cry.

When Wei Mama heard her crying, she sat up again and asked, “What are you afraid of? Don’t be afraid, Mommy is here.”

Just as Wei Changfeng said, the results of the examination were not satisfactory. But due to the early discovery, the risk was not big, and the doctor thought she could have an operation.

The day after the test results coming out, Sheng Chang’an returned from Europe. Then, Wei Papa also rushed back from New Zealand.

Wei Mama forced herself to be calm in front of the woman for a few days. When she saw Wei Papa, she finally couldn’t help but cry. Wei Papa patted Wei Mama’s hand while their children watched from afar, and couldn’t help but feel upset.

Both the two families had hired the best doctors to hold a consultation for Wei Mama, and the Sheng Family’s parents had rushed back too. Sheng Mama consoled her confidante and said it would definitely be fine.

Wei Mama was unwilling to stay in the hospital before the operation, so everyone accompanied her out of the hospital. She went home to see Snowball, then hugged Little Orange and An Cheng, and then she went to Xi’an with Wei Papa.

The ones who accompanied them included the Sheng Family’s parents, and Xi’an was the city where the Wei Family’s parents knew each other. Wei Mama said that she hadn’t gone there for several years and wanted to take a look.

Children couldn’t tell how dangerous the operation was, so they could only comfort the adults with their own knowledge.

Qi Le’an smiled and kissed his babies.

After Wei Changfeng woke up, they gave the card to Wei Changfeng together. Wei Changfeng smiled and wrote something on it. Then he folded the card and put it away.

“When Grandma finishes the operation, we will give her the card,” said An Cheng to Wei Changfeng.

Wei Changfeng kissed him on the forehead and said, “Okay, baby.”

The night before Wei Mama’s operation, sleep eluded everyone, but the next day, they all stayed with Wei Mama as if nothing had happened.

Wei Papa was called out to sign a consent form for the operation and Wei Changfeng peeled the orange for Wei Mama. Wei Xin’an took Snowball over while An Cheng and Little Orange sat by the side to tell Wei Mama stories.

It was as if the operation wasn’t a big deal.

Before entering the operating theatre, Wei Mama suddenly asked, “Let’s take a photo together?”

Qi Le’an hurriedly handed the phone to the nurse beside him and asked her to take a photograph of the whole family.

At ten o’clock in the morning, Wei Mama was given a general anesthetic and pushed into the operating theatre.

The operation lasted for ten hours, and everyone was in no mood to eat. The housekeeper took the three children back while the adults waited outside the operating theatre. Wei Changfeng did not say a word since Wei Mama was pushed into the operating theatre. Qi Le’an was also confused and couldn’t help wondering what to do if the operation failed.

Just as he thought about it, he scolded himself and let himself think positive.

Finally, the red light above the door of the operation theatre was switched off and everyone stood straight.

The nurse took the lead to come out and said to everyone, “The operation is a success! Please prepare to help push the patient.”

Qi Le’an saw Sis Wei raising her head and swallowing tears while Sheng Chang’an hugged her to comfort her. Wei Papa kept saying ‘thanks’ while Wei Changfeng’s eyes turned wet.

Wei Mama was quickly pushed out and Wei Changfeng and Sheng Chang’an pushed the bed into the intensive care unit.

Wei Mama would wake up in twenty four hours. After she woke up, the doctor could only know the situation of the legacy.

Outside the intensive care unit, Qi Le’an held Wei Changfeng’s hand and said, “The hardest part has passed…”

Wei Changfeng nodded and held Qi Le’an’s hand too. For the first time, Qi Le’an felt Wei Changfeng’s hand was so cold.

Qi Le’an smiled and rubbed Wei Changfeng’s hand.
