Chapter 14: 214. The Newly Born

As expected, this “white room” was the first hurdle set by the show. Each guest had to enter the white room in advance and get a room card for the night according to the order they came out.

Qi Le’an took the room card and asked the camera crew, “Is there anything fishy about this room card?”

The crew did not say anything.

Qi Le’an had to smile and did not pursue the question.

When the group arrived at the hotel where they were staying, Qi Le’an saw a few of the hosts, among them was Sun Honglei, the host who loved to tell jokes about himself.

Qi Le’an greeted the crowd, but he received some wicked smiles.

Sun Honglei came over, hooked Qi Le’an shoulder and said, “Le’an, how about sleeping with me together tonight?”

Qi Le’an grabbed his room card and said warily, “I…”

“Just say whether you’ll sleep with me or not!” Sun Honglei was known for his “robbery” in the show, and Qi Le’an immediately…

He looked at the people on the side for help. Wang Xun, who acted as the smartest of the six hosts, was already laughing. He received Qi Le’an’s help gaze and said, “Okay, okay. Brother Honglei, don’t scare him.”

Sun Honglei withdrew his hand and said, “Haha! I was just kidding with you.”

Wei Changfeng came to pick him up and said, “Really? Are you still feeling tired from the variety show?”

Wei Changfeng was heartbroken and he said, “You were pinned to the ground and beaten?”

Qi Le’an: QAQ. “I don’t even want to remember what happened that day!”

He wasn’t supposed to be back until tomorrow! He really didn’t want to stay in that crazy place for a minute!

“It was quite enjoyable though,” Qi Le’an then said, “The hosts are friendly and easy-going although they are great celebrities… And we had a good time when fighting together.”

Wei Changfeng smiled and rubbed Qi Le’an’s head, saying, “I have prepared food for you at home. You can eat some.”

After Qi Le’an finished filming this variety show, he could eat whatever he wanted for a while.

After taking a few days off at home, Wei Changfeng made one last trip to the Child Finding Alliance to collect information. Now that the script was in the writing stage, Qi Le’an had curiously asked Wei Changfeng what the movie was called, while Wei Changfeng laughed and didn’t say anything. After a few fruitless probes, Qi Le’an stopped asking.

Anyway, when the final script came out, he would definitely be the first to see it!

After all, he was the male lead!

August was the coldest month in New Zealand, which was not at all suitable for raising a baby. But Wei Xin’an would rather live in the cold weather than go back home for the summer.

When Qi Le’an and Wei Chang Feng boarded the plane, they were wearing shirts with short sleeves, but when they got off the plane, they changed into light down jackets.

The Wei Family’s driver was waiting at the airport early, and when they got into the car, Wei Changfeng asked, “How is my sister?”

It was freezing outside, but inside the house, it was as warm as spring. The fireplace plus the air conditioner had changed the season in the house.

The Wei Family was happy about the return of their two children, and Wei Xin’an was bored at home with her baby, so she needed someone to relieve her boredom.

“Your father has thought of seventeen or eighteen names for the baby!” said Wei Mama cheerfully, “If you ask me, I’d rather let them pick the name themselves!”

Wei Papa said on the other side, “You have to follow the ancient method of naming! You can’t name the baby randomly!”

Wei Mama rolled her eyes and said, “Why didn’t you do a fortune-telling when you named Xin’an and Changfeng?”

Wei Papa didn’t say anything.

The names of Wei Xin’an and Wei Changfeng were related to the place where Wei Mama and Wei Papa met. It had nothing to do with the ancient method of naming.

On the side, Wei Xin’an said, “Aiya! It’s just a name… Brother Sheng is not in a hurry. Why are you in such a hurry?”

Sheng Chang’an spoiled his wife on a daily basis next to him and he said “Mom and Dad can decide it. It’s just fine.”

Wei Papa was happy and he said, “Your mom and I even discussed out a few new names yesterday. I’ll show you guys after dinner!”

Wei Xin’an could not stand it; she whispered to his brother and Qi Le’an, “Our family has been talking only about this for dinner for almost a month now…”

Wei Changfeng couldn’t help but laugh, so did Qi Le’an.

Wei Xin’an looked at her stomach and said, “Baby, baby, please come out quickly! Your grandparents and your parents are so anxious to wait for you coming to this world!”

Wei Changfeng said from the side, “Your two uncles are also anxious.”

Wei Xin’an smiled, with a maternal glow between her eyebrows, “Yes, your two uncles have come back to see you too!”

She looked up and saw Qi Le’an watching curiously, asking, “Do you want to touch it?”

Qi Le’an’s eyes widened and he said, “Can I?”

Wei Xin’an nodded and took Qi Le’an’s hand and placed it on her stomach.

Through a thin layer of clothing, Qi Le’an cried out, “He’s kicking me!”

The touch under his hand was real and gentle; he could feel the power of life from the strength of the kick.

The family were all amused by Qi Le’an, and Wei Mama lamented, “It’s a pity that you…”

Wei Papa glanced at Wei Mama, who stopped the conversation.

Qi Le’an knew what Wei Mama wanted to say and was a little sad in his heart.

Because of himself, Wei Changfeng would never have a child of his own in this lifetime. But… Wei Sama didn’t regret it!

The baby in Wei Xin’an’s belly had always been stable, and as the due date approached, the whole family was watching carefully. When Wei Changfeng was writing the script, he would run down to see his sister, but Wei Xin’an seemed she didn’t care too much about it.

On August 6, the Sheng parents arrived in New Zealand. The Wei family’s house was immediately filled to the brim. They brought too many children’s things for the child not yet born. The whole home was full of the smell of milk.

On the morning of August 8, Wei Xin’an was still humming a song and watering the flowers when she suddenly felt that something was wrong.

“Mum!” Despite all the mental preparation, Wei Xin’an started to get nervous!

Wei Mama was in the kitchen to cook a sweet soup. She heard her daughter shouting and immediately came out of the kitchen in fear, saying, “What’s wrong? What’s wrong?”

“The amniotic fluid is leaking…” Wei Xin’an said, holding the back of the sofa to one side.

Last night it snowed. Sheng Chang’an and Wei Changfeng were in the garage to tie anti-skid chains to the tires, ready to send Wei Xin’an to the hospital later. They did not expect Wei Xin’an’s amniotic fluid would leak so early.

Jenny, Wei Papa and the Sheng parents went to the market to buy food and take a break, and they were not at home.

Qi Le’an ran down from upstairs and said, “Sister, wait! I’ll go get Brother Sheng and Wei Sama!”

After saying that, he ran like a gust of wind to the garage, saying, “Brother Sheng! Wei Sama! Sister Xin’an’s amniotic fluid is leaking!”

Sheng Chang’an threw down the things he was holding and ran upstairs. Wei Changfeng said, “Come! Help me put this anti-slip chain on!”

Qi Le’an went to help and found that Wei Sama’s hands were shaking a little.

When the two of them finished putting on the anti-slip chains. Sheng Changan was already carrying Wei Xin’an down, followed by Wei Mama with her maternity bag. Wei Changfeng got into the driver’s seat and said, “You guys sit in the back. I’ll drive!”

Qi Le’an opened the door for them and Sheng Chang’an carried Wei Xin’an to the car, followed by Wei Mama, saying, “It’s okay! Xin’an! Don’t be afraid!”

Wei Xin’an did not know whether to cry or laugh, saying, “I’m not afraid… Brother Sheng, don’t be afraid!”

Sheng Chang’an pursed his lips and did not speak. Qi Le’an snapped the back door shut and got on the passenger seat. With a “whoosh”, Wei Changfeng drove the car out.

Wei Xin’an was still in the mood to tease, “Changfeng, drive slowly.”

The hospital was not far from the Wei Family. Wei Changfeng only used ten minutes to drive there. Sheng Chang’an wrapped Wei Xin’an in a quilt and ran all the way into the delivery room. The Sheng parents, Wei Papa and Jenny came there in another car and a large family was waiting at the door.

“How long is this going to take?” Wei Changfeng asked.

Wei Mama couldn’t sit still and wandered around the door of the delivery room, saying, “Some people are fast and some are slow… I hope your sister is faster and doesn’t suffer.”

There was no news after Wei Xin’an went in. The family waited for nearly two hours before Sheng Chang’an sent a message, saying, “Uterine contraction has just started. The doctor said it would take a while.”

Wei Mama said, “It’s been two hours and the contraction finally started…”

The family then waited at the entrance to the delivery room and at noon Qi Le’an sent Jenny back to prepare lunch for everyone, then he brought back some of the daily items. However, no one was in the mood to eat. After a couple of bites, Wei Mama went back to stand guard at the door.

Every minute became unbearably long and no one even wanted to look at their phones.

It was not until four hours later that the door was slowly opened.

The whole family stood up in unison and Qi Le’an couldn’t resist squeezing Wei Changfeng’s hand. Wei Changfeng was unaware of the pain and just let Qi Le’an squeeze it.

Sheng Chang’an, dressed in green clothes for the operation room, came out; his face was full of fatigue but it could not hide his excitement.

“7.9 lbs, mother and child are both safe.”

Everyone immediately began to cheer, and the worry Qi Le’an was carrying in his heart was finally relieved! Wei Changfeng hugged him tightly, and Sheng Chang’an smiled and laughed with tears in the corners of his eyes.

Ten minutes later, Wei Xin’an was pushed out and the tiny baby was placed at her feet.

Wei Xin’an’s face was pale and sweaty, but she couldn’t help but smile.

Sheng Chang’an took one look at the baby and leaned down to kiss his wife.

The parents of the two families called to report the birth of the child. Wei Changfeng watched from the side, unable to hold a smile on his face as he held Qi Le’an’s hand.

The two interlocked their fingers, both seeing the joy in the other’s eyes.

Qi Le’an couldn’t help but go up and kiss his Wei Sama.

Wei Changfeng returned the kiss tenderly.
