Chapter 10: 210. Variety Show

Qi Le’an told Wei Changfeng his thoughts, but Wei Changfeng smiled, “Tresse is not suitable to help me.”

“All the resources he has are in the Hollywood. I can’t see what good they will do in China.”

Qi Le’an understood immediately. Tresse may call all the shots in America, but no one in China would be willing to buy it.

And a producer should have eyes in the back of his head. He should be able to help fix many problems.

“Brother Sheng made contact with a producer, who had a long-term partnership with China Entertainment,” Wei Changfeng added, “We just need to show our hospitality to Tresse when he comes here.”

Qi Le’an was a little downcast for the simple reason that he couldn’t help Wei Changfeng at all.

Noticing that Qi Le’an was feeling down, Wei Changfeng said, “We have a party to celebrate Er Niu’s return. I think maybe you want to go.”

It had been more than half a month since the rescue plan for Er Niu. Qi Le’an didn’t see the little thing after that. He asked curiously, “How’s the little thing now?”

“She gradually found himself accepting the new family… but still has nightmares at night,” Wei Changfeng sighed, “Let’s go and see her.”

Of course, Qi Le’an would not refuse Wei Sama. He went to the party with Wei Changfeng that afternoon.

The party was held at a resort near Hai City. He Guang was the organizer. The purpose of this gathering was to ask Er Niu’s father to tell them his story about never stop searching for his child and let He Guang offer some pearls of his experience to encourage more people.

Qi Le’an thought he would meet a bunch of heartbroken parents, but when he actually came into contact with this group, he knew that these people didn’t care too much about their heartbreak stories. At least on the face of it, they were all smiling.

Everyone welcomed Qi Le’an, and a mother specially prepared desserts to thank Qi Le’an for successfully saving Er Niu.

It had been half a month since they last saw each other. Er Niu was wearing her new clothes and carrying a brand-new schoolbag. She had already accepted the fact that she was trafficked. And she was not resistant to see these adults who were surrounding her with red eyes and sent her blessings.

Qi Le’an was at the party with Wei Changfeng for a long time and went home in the evening. He sighed a lot and asked a question that everyone seemed to know the answer, “Wei Sama, do you think they can find all the trafficked children?”

Wei Changfeng hugged Qi Le’an from behind without saying a word. And Qi Le’an ran to the Chen Family to visit his little sister the next morning,

The little sister giggled as she saw him. She was carefree, while there were countless children in this world who would never see their birth parents.

Chen Shan knew what he was doing with Wei Changfeng recently, and he said, “I’ve told my mom and dad as well as the babysitter and driver. You may rest assured that we’ll take care of her!”

Qi Le’an took out the gift he bought and helped wear it around the little sister’s wrist. It was an exquisite watch. He adjusted it for a while and gave the instructions to Chen Shan, “It’s a watch for kid. And there’s a GPS in it. Ask her to wear it when she goes out to play. You can also download an app to get a fix on her anytime.”

Chen Shan read the instructions for a long time before downloading the app in the application store. The little sister also looked at her watch curiously. Qi Le’an coaxed her and taught her which button to press when she got lost, and which button to press when she met bad people.

The little thing was curious about new things. She soon learned it. Fiddling with the watch, Chen Shan sighed, “It is industrially a much more prosperous time. By the way, so you’ll wait for the message from Wei Changfeng?”

“Wei Sama has already contacted the producer to build the group. We’ll be shooting within half a year,” Qi Le’an answered, “It’s not bad for me to take a break for half a year.”

The little girl giggled while watching “Peppa Pig”. Suddenly, she jumped off the sofa and hugged Qi Le’an by his leg, calling, “Best actor! An! Best actor!”

It was hard not to smirk. Chen Shan picked up the little girl and let her sit around his neck, “Best Actor? You little thing, do you know what the Best Actor is?”

He didn’t expect her to nod and say seriously, “Mommy said the Best Actor won the first place! An is in the first place!”

The two of them finally chortled with delight.

Before saying goodbye, Chen Shan said, “It’s okay if you don’t want to act in other movies. I have a cameo role in two variety shows and CCTV public-service announcement. They are all very good resources. Go back and check them tonight.” (Note: In China, CCTV is short for China Central Television, the largest TV station all over the country.)

Qi Le’an would not reject Chen Shan stupidly, “Of course! Thank you!”

Chen Shan tutted, “When can you be less polite and stop saying thank you to me?”

The little girl put in, “The teacher said the good baby knows to say thank you!”

Chen Shan rolled his eyes and said, “Fine, you are all good babies!”

Qi Le’an arrived home in the afternoon and Wei Changfeng was not back yet. Not only was Wei Changfeng going to the gathering today, he also had to meet the producer. So it would be impossible for him to come back for dinner.

Turning on the computer, Qi Le’an checked the email Chen Shan sent him. Both of the two variety shows needed the cameo roles; one was to take care of the kids, and the other was about the expedition. Both of the two shows had their specific audiences and were the hottest resources. Although the public-service announcement was just a small one, it was launched on CCTV. And it would be a long road from selecting to shooting.

Comparing the three futures, Qi Le’an gave up the variety show which was about taking care of the kids and chose the one about the expedition. The show had already been shot for the third season and the first few episodes had already aired. Qi Le’an would only need to spend three days to make a guest appearance on the show and the show would be on TV next month at the earliest.

He was also very interested in the public-service announcement despite the fact that he could only got less money from it. But after all, it was shown on CCTV!

He knew that he would not be banned anymore if CCTV could accept him.

After calling Chen Shan back and finalizing the shooting plan, Qi Le’an went to the kitchen for some food and watched the variety show in the living room while eating.

The show was composed of six permanent guests. There were tasks assigned in each episode and the guests needed to finish the task through intelligence and strength. Every so often, the show would invite some popular celebrities to be the guests. The show had led in the ratings all season because the endless amusements during the shooting and the unpredictable ending.

The six permanent guests in the show had their own public personas. They acted cute or played the fool. There were people who were as eye candy and intellect role, some were responsible for self-deprecating. Coupling with the performance of the show and watching one episode could laugh Qi Le’an’s sock off. He soon became a fan of the show and couldn’t help but click on another episode.

Wei Changfeng heard Qi Le’an laughing while he was coming in.

He walked closer and saw Qi Le’an lying on the sofa eating chips while watching TV. He didn’t know what kind of plot on the TV had made Qi Le’an roll in the aisles.

“Wei Sama is back…” Qi Le’an tried to take a slow breath and said, “Do you want to have something to eat?”

Wei Changfeng shook his head and sat down. Watching TV with Qi Le’an, he asked, “What’s it?”

“Ultimate Challenge,” Qi Le’an replied, “They invited me to make a guest appearance on the show. And I just take a look at it in advance.”

He broke off in mid-sentence. That permanent guest in the show started his self-deprecating again. Holding his hand before his waist, Qi Le’an laughed, “I was thinking that this young man was very serious. I didn’t expect him to be like this! Oh my, he’s killing me!”

Wei Changfeng was curious to watch the show. Three seconds later, the two people in the living room laughed.

Shaking his head, Wei Changfeng smiled, “It’s a good show.”

After the two of them finished the episode, Qi Le’an asked, “Now let’s talk business. How’s your meeting with the producer?”

Wei Changfeng smiled, “Not bad. Brother Zhi and I will go to the Seaching for Child Association tomorrow.”

Thinking for a moment, Qi Le’an asked, “Do you need to find sponsors?”

“It’s not the time…” Taking Qi Le’an in his arms, Wei Changfeng played another variety show, “Tomorrow Brother Zhi will go collect the materials for the project evaluation. And I will start to write the script. All will begin officially when the script is finished.”

The script was the fundamental of a drama. Everything was an empty talk without the script.

Qi Le’an nodded and remembered his scene of suffering on Tisch when he was taking the script class. And he admired Wei Changfeng.

However, writing the script was a follow-up. That night, Wei Changfeng, who had been busy for a few days, finally could have a break and sat on the sofa with Qi Le’an to watch the variety show.

Qi Le’an was already eating chips, and Wei Changfeng made him desserts. They were crispy puffs with custard sauce. Qi Le’an vaguely felt the weight gain when he slept that night.

When confirming that Qi Le’an would participate in that variety show and public-service announcement, Chen Shan frowned and said with his sharp eyes, “Qi Le’an! Are you putting on weight recently?”

Qi Le’an was speechless.

Chen Shan sneered, “Well. You’re about to be on the show soon. I won’t be the one who’s going to be desperate.”

Thinking of the magical camera that could make people look fat, Qi Le’an suddenly trembled.

He must lose weight! He decided to work on losing weight from today!

No matter how delicious the food cooked by Wei Sama was, Qi Le’an must resist the temptation! He must not compromise!
