Chapter 24: Talk

Not Alone [Jacob Black x Reader]Words: 7715

After a couple minutes, Alice and my mom were able to calm me down. By then, my face was puffy and my eyes red. "Y/N, honey, I'm so sorry." my mom apologized, "I had no idea that he would come here, I promise you."

I sniffled and shook my head, "I know, mom. You don't have to apologize for him." She pulled me to a comforting embrace.

When we broke apart, I took a deep breath. "Well," I sighed, "we should get ready for the party." My mother looked at me concerned, "Are you sure? We can postpone it if you don't feel up to it." I shook my head.

"No," I smiled, "I'm not gonna let some old asshole ruin my birthday." Mom smiled at me and held my face in her hands, kissing my forehead. "Well, I'll help in any way I can!" Alice offered excitedly. I smiled at her gratefully.

"Why are you early, Alice?" Mom asked, confused. I looked at Alice with worry but she didn't seem fazed. "I thought I'd come and help out anyways," Alice explained, "we are best friends after all!" She squeezed my shoulder and we went to work.

The setup wasn't anything big. Just a couple folding tables with tablecloths over them to hold all the food and stuff. There were balloons floating in my favorite color and blankets on the couch for when all of us watched movies.

The couch was pretty big but not big enough for all of us, so some people would have to sit on the ground. We moved the coffee table into another room so that there was more room.

With Alice's help we were done fairly quickly. All we had to do now was wait for the pizza and then the guests. "

By the way, Y/N, I wanted to give you your present early!" Alice smiled. She went to her purse and pulled out a small, delicately wrapped box, "Open it!" She was practically glowing with excitement. I giggled and grabbed the small box and gently tore the wrapping paper and opened it.

I gasped at what was inside. It was a necklace with a delicate chain, a teardrop diamond pendant and branch detailing surrounding it. "Alice, it's gorgeous! It must have cost a fortune," I whispered, "I-I can't accept this." I looked at Alice and she shook her head, "Nonsense. You deserve it, you are one of my best friends after all." she grinned.

I shook my head and lightly chuckled, "Fine. Put it on me?" She nodded and I turned around and moved my hair to give her better access. Once she had secured it, she turned me around and had a sympathetic look on her face.

"There's something else, but I'm not sure after everything..." She looked worried. "It'll be fine, whatever it is. I promise." I rubbed her arm. She let out a small sigh, "Bella wants to see you and apologize," she spoke slowly. The smile dropped from my face and I stood frozen.

The girl, my friend, who my boyfriend loved, and kissed, wanted to see me on my birthday to apologize. Was there anything she could say to make it better? Did I want to make it better? I knew that I would have to forgive Jacob, but can I forgive her?

I took a deep breath before telling Alice my decision. "Fine, I'll talk to her." I nodded. Alice gave me a small smile and squeezed my hand lightly. The doorbell rang and mom answered it, bringing inside 5 pizzas. I quickly took some from her and we set them up on the tables.

Not long after some people arrived. First, Angela and Eric, together of course. Next was Jessica alone. After her came Mike. They set their presents on the kitchen island and we were all enjoying our food.

A couple minutes into the conversation with everyone, Alice lightly touched my arm. I turned to her. "Bella's outside." she explained. I nodded and told everyone that I'd be right back.

I went outside and there stood Bella in my driveway with Edward and Jasper a little distanced away. When we made eye contact she gave me a small awkward smile and waved. When I stood in front of her, she went to talk but I interrupted. "Before you say anything I wanted to say my piece." I stated and she nodded.

"What you did was selfish a-and shitty, but I'm not just hurt about the kiss, I'm hurt about what led to it. I'm pissed- well, I was pissed. Pissed that you were taking up my boyfriend's thoughts. That you didn't think about how this would affect anyone but yourself. How much pain Edward and I went through, and how much pain you eventually put Jacob through. I thought you were my friend, and I was excited about that. Because for a long time, I didn't have friends, and it was all so new to me. But friends don't do that. Friends don't make each other insecure and hurt and... break them."

Bella looked down in shame before speaking. "Y/N, I-I'm sorry. I know what I did was selfish and that I had no right. I know it was messed up, but I guess I was jealous. Jealous that Jacob had someone who cared about him.. more than me. I know it's no excuse for what I've done and that I ruined your relationship but I hope you can forgive me, and Jacob. He doesn't deserve for you to hate him. I hope that we can move past this and hopefully repair our friendship?" She looked up at me hopefully.

I decided to be the bigger person. I sighed and pulled Bella in for a hug. She seemed shocked but hugged me back. I pulled away and smiled at her, "Let's go inside."

Once all four of us came inside, everyone greeted everyone else. "So, Y/N, when is Jacob going to be here?" Jessica asked "I thought he would have been here by now!" I gave her a small smile and replied, "He's not coming." Angela looked at me confused, "Why, what happened?" I clicked my tongue and decided to tell the truth. "We broke up." I confessed.

Jessica gasped, "What?!? What happened??" I shook my head, "A lot of stuff, I don't wanna talk about it." Angela gave me a sympathetic look and pulled me into a hug. I hugged her back lightly before pulling away.

"Well, we're here to celebrate my birthday, are we good to open presents?" I asked everyone to which there was a general agreement. Angela and Eric had gotten me a couple CDs, Angela got me a bracelet and top, and Mike got me a record.

Jasper had gotten me a poster for my room, Edward also got me a record, and Bella got me a pair of earrings. When I was at the end of opening presents, there was an extra bag. "That one's from your friends at the reservation." Bella explained. I smiled sadly, not that my friends knew it was sad, and opened it. It was a handmade dreamcatcher with my birthstone in the middle. I smiled and set it aside. I thanked everyone and suggested we went to watch a movie.

I decided to sit on the floor and so did Jessica. After the movie started, I felt someone slide down beside me, and looked over to see Mike. I smiled and scooted over to give him more room, but he scooted closer.

I felt extremely awkward and whispered, "I'm going to the bathroom." He nodded and smiled and I felt him staring at me as I walked away. Once safely in the bathroom, I shook away the awkward feeling he gave me and splashed some water onto my face.

When I came back, I decided to sit on the couch in the spot Mike left, that way there was no room for him and it wasn't awkward. I looked over at Alice and she gave me an amused smile, which I returned.

After another movie, everyone decided to head out. I gave everyone a hug, but when it came to Mike, he gave me a tighter one. I awkwardly patted his back until he let go. I gave him an awkward smile before moving onto the Cullens and Bella. First was Alice, then Jasper, then Edward, leaving Bella for last.

"Thank you, Y/N." she said after the hug, "I just hope you can forgive Jake." She squeezed my arm lightly then left. I let out a sigh before closing the door and locking it. I looked at the mess left in my living room and decided to leave it for tomorrow. I was exhausted.

I hope I can forgive Jake, too.
