The weeks leading up to graduation have been nothing short of uneventful. For me at least.
The Cullens and the Pack are both tracking the vampire that keeps going through Forks. Because of this, I haven't seen much of Jacob. This doesn't really help with my feelings of insecurity.
Edward and Jasper can sense this whenever I'm near them, which has been a surprising amount lately. Alice and them sit with my friend group at lunch, and I've had some pretty pleasant conversations with them. Edward and I have the same taste in music, and Jasper understands my feelings of loneliness.
I've actually warmed up to the Cullens a lot. A fact the pack isn't very appreciative of. Whenever I visit Emily, they tell me I reek of leeches, which isn't really an insult to me. I told Emily about how friendly they are, and she's glad that I'm making more friends.
The day of graduation finally came. I'm happy for all of my friends, even if this means that I won't see them as much anymore. I sat in the auditorium next to Carlisle and Esme, seeing as I couldn't sit with my friends.
As I listened to Jessica's speech, I felt a sense of pride watching her. She's really grown as a person. Though she can be petty at times, she has a good heart. When each of my friends walked across the stage and accepted their diploma, I clapped and whistled for them.
After the ceremony was over, I stuck around to take pictures with my friends. I took pictures with Mike, Angela, Eric, and Jessica and made sure that they would send me the pictures later.
Then I moved on to the Cullens. I wasn't particularly close with Rosalie and Emmett but it wasn't like I hated them, so I took a picture with all of them, including Bella. Esme told me that she would print a copy for me and I thanked her before leaving to get ready for the party that night.
I rushed home to make sure that I looked presentable. I did a natural makeup look and pulled my hair into a half-up half-down look. Then I put on the outfit that I had prepared weeks before. Once I was ready, I walked over to my bedside table and pulled out the gift I had gotten for Alice.
It was a pearl bracelet with a bright blue stone, reminiscent of the 1920's. I had gotten it at a thrift shop for around $20, but when I looked closer it seemed to be worth way more. I had thought of selling it, but decided against it, as I had bought it as a gift.
Alice had said that blue was more her color, and I knew that she was turned around that time. I kept the bracelet in a black box with a blue ribbon around it. I let out a deep breath and went out to my car to drive to the Cullen's house.
Over the past couple of weeks, I've been spending more time there, so I wasn't surprised by the size when I arrived. I walked up to the door only to have it quickly opened for me by Alice. She greeted me with a smile and a hug, "You made it! The party just started." she stated, pulling away.
I smiled back. "Oh, Alice!" I called as she turned away, "this is for you." I handed her the small box, and she immediately opened it. When she caught a glance at it she gasped, which I knew was for effect because she had probably seen it in a vision.
She pulled me into a tighter hug and I hugged her back. "Thank you so much, Y/N. I will treasure this forever." she smiled as she put it on her wrist. It seemed to be the perfect size for her. "Now, let's join the party." she chirped, walking up the stairway into her home. I followed closely behind her.
Angela and Jessica were already there, so I went and talked to them. I saw Alice showing the Cullens the gift that I had gotten her, they looked at me and I waved back shyly before returning to my conversation. I talked to the girls about their plans for the future. We talked for a while, danced a bit, and ate some food.
I was so excited to turn 17 in a couple weeks. My friends were all coming to my party, which was at my house, and my mom took off work. I was talking to the girls about this when I saw Jacob, Quil, and Embry walk in.
I excused myself from the pair and walked towards them. Jake was looking around and he saw me and immediately smiled. I jogged up to him and wrapped him in a big hug, which he reciprocated by twirling me around, leading me to giggle. He finally set me down and I pulled him down into a kiss.
It felt like I hadn't seen him in forever, which was true enough. "What are you guys doing here?" I asked, and was interjected by Bella who had walked towards us. "Good question. What are you doing here?" Bella questioned angrily. "You invited me, remember?" Jake responded to Bella.
"Was my right hook too subtle for you? That was me uninviting you." Bella stated. I looked at Quil confused when he explained to me that Bella punched Jacob when he said that he wished that Edward would have died in Italy. I shook my head and let out a breath.
"Look Bella, I'm sorry about what I said, and your hand. I was being an ass." Jake apologized. I put a hand on his arm, it was big of him to apologize for something like that. He smiled down at me and put an arm around my shoulder.
"Oh, I brought you something," he stated, pulling something out of his pocket, "a graduation present." He held out a chain bracelet with a wooden wolf charm on it. Bella seemed happy to receive the gift and held out her wrist for him to put it on her. I felt a pain in my heart. Jake had never gotten me something like that.
I shook it off as just a gift to a friend. After all, I had gotten a gift for Alice, that didn't mean that I was in love with her. I looked to see where Alice was and saw her staring straight forward blankly, which meant she had a vision. Bella seemed to notice too, as she made a b-line straight towards her, and I followed.
"Alice?" I asked once I reached her. "Alice, what did you see?" Bella pushed. Alice had a scared look on her face and responded, "The decision's been made." she replied, scared. The boys had followed us. "What's going on?" Jacob questioned.
"You're not going to Seattle." Bella stated, more of a question than anything. "No," Alice answered, "They're coming here."
Edward, Jasper, and Carlisle met us outside on their deck. I stood next to Jacob, not really listening to what was going on. He had his arm wrapped around my waist to comfort me, but it was no use really. I was friends with the Cullens, but the idea of having dozens of newborn, blood-sucking, vampires was a lot to handle.
I felt a wave of calm wash over me and looked up to Jasper, who nodded. I gave him a thankful smile. While out of my daze, I locked eyes with Bella, who must have been staring at Jake and I. When we made eye contact she looked away immediately. I shook my head, turning my thoughts back to the vampires.
"All right. We're in." Jacob stated. I snapped my head up to look at him. "Y/N, we'll be fine. We have to protect our town." he comforted, rubbing my arm. I let out a deep sigh and rested my head on his chest as they made plans to train to fight against the newborns.
All of this at once was exhausting to me. I felt so tired. "Y/N, you look drained, would you like to stay here tonight?" Carlisle offered. Before Jake could decline for me, I answered, "Yes, please Carlisle. If it's all right, of course."
Jake looked at me in shock. "Jake, I'll be fine. Besides, I'm probably safest here while you guys are on patrol, right?" I convinced. "Fine." Jacob responded, "But call me when you get home safe. If I don't answer, leave a voicemail, okay?" I smiled up at him, "Okay."
"You can sleep in my bedroom." Alice offered, "I'll get you some pajamas." I nodded and followed her into the house. We walked to her bedroom, and she rummaged through her closet for some clothes while I sat on her bed. She handed me a pair of leggings and a t-shirt, "These will have to work, is that alright?" she asked. I nodded.
"Well, you get changed and get some rest. Ask if you need anything." she said before walking out of the room. I quickly got changed and wrapped myself up under the covers, letting sleep wash over me.
I'm terrified for Jake.
