Chapter 16: Shopping

Not Alone [Jacob Black x Reader]Words: 4722

I threw on a pair of jeans, a random t-shirt, and a hoodie, finishing off with some converse. I grabbed my backpack and went out to my car. Jake probably won't pick me up today and I don't feel like dealing with people on the bus.

I pulled into the parking lot and parked near the front, wanting to stay out of the rain as much as possible.

The day went by uneventfully- as usual. At lunch, I was sitting at the table in silence while my friends talked about whatever. Thoughts of Jacob rushed through my mind. I wasn't paying attention at all when I felt someone sit in the chair next to me. I looked to see none other than Alice Cullen.

The rest of the lunch table looked to her but when she didn't talk to them they turned their attention back to their conversation. "Hey Alice." I greeted with a thin smile. "Hello, Y/N. I just wanted to see how you were feeling. You know with the whole... situation." she chirped. I let out a sigh before nodding. "I'm as good as I can be." I told her.

"Actually, Y/N, I was wondering if you wanted to go shopping with me? You know, for the graduation party I'm hosting. You'll be there right?" she asked hopefully. I had a hard time saying no to people. Especially nice people.

After a beat I nodded, "Yeah, of course." Alice squealed at my response. "Perfect, do you have any plans after school?" she questioned. I shook my head no. "Well, now you do." she stated before skipping off somewhere.

I let out a sigh and picked at the lunch in front of me. At least Jacob won't smell her on me. I pulled out my mom and let her know that I had plans with a friend after school, which she had no disagreement with.

The last bell rang and Alice met me outside of my classroom. "I have to drop my car off at home, do you wanna follow me there and then we can ride in your car?" I offered. "Sure!" Alice replied.

On our way to Port Angeles, Alice and I had a surprisingly pleasant conversation. We talked about clothes, movies, and celebrities. She agreed with me that Paul Rudd was definitely hotter than Freddy Prinze Jr.

Before I knew it, we found ourselves at the strip mall in Port Angeles. Luckily, the rain had let up, so we didn't need umbrellas. We had entered a dress shop, I assumed for Alice to find a dress. I probably couldn't afford anything in the shop.

Alice held up a sage green ruched cami dress. "What do you think?" she asked. I nodded, "It would look great on you." I stated. She laughed, "No, silly, not for me, for you!"

I widened my eyes. It was gorgeous, and it probably would look good on me. I looked at the price tag '$149.99'.

I immediately shook my head. "No, I couldn't afford it. I mean, it's beautiful. You should get it!" I encouraged. Alice shook her head with a pout. "No, blue is more my color. But, you would look amazing in this dress." she said, "You know what, I'll buy it for you."

I shook my head again, "Oh no, I couldn't possibly ask you to do that." I rejected, "Let's just look for your dress."

Alice, however, did not budge. "I'm buying this dress for you and that is final. No if, ands, or buts." she stated before walking off to the register and paying for it while I stood there shocked. She handed me the bag and walked out.

I quickly shook out of my daze and walked after her, "Wait, you didn't get a dress, though!" I stammered. "Oh, I already have one." she smiled. I laughed and shook my head. She probably had this planned.

After leaving the dress shop we went to multiple party supply stores until we had more than either of us could carry, which was a surprising amount. When I asked if she really needed all this, Alice said that she had a 'vision' of what the party would look like. I shrugged and accepted her answer.

I thanked Alice profusely for her buying my dress, to which she replied, "Of course, that's what friends are for." I smiled and we talked the whole way back to Forks about how the party is going to be set up.

She dropped me off in front of my house and I ran inside. I was so excited to try on my dress. I ran into my room and took it out of the bag, slipping it on.

To my surprise, it fit perfectly. It wasn't too tight, not too loose, and I could eat in it, a fact I was thankful for. I quickly searched my closet for shoes that would match and found a pair of brown wedge sandals that I wore to my cousin's party a few years back.

I was so excited for the graduation party. It gave me something to look forward to, which is something I haven't had in a long, long time.

I thought back to when Jasper comforted me (in his own way) and when Edward gave me a ride. Now I got a night out and a new dress for a party that I was personally invited to by Alice. I smiled to myself.

Maybe the Cullens aren't so bad.
