Chapter 27: 26.

The Empath And The Narcissist | JJKWords: 10365

Sitting on the cold, hard concrete of the parking lot, you were drowned in a sea of heartbreak and dejection. Uncontrollable sobs wrecked your body, each wave of tears bringing a fresh onslaught of pain. Just when you thought you had reached the end of your sorrow, it deepened, overwhelming you with its intensity. The hurt was tangible, almost physical in its grasp. You had clung to the belief that he was the one, nurturing a hope that he would eventually see your worth. But as you sat there, the harsh truth dawned on you: your feelings were a solo journey, unreciprocated and unseen.

Sitting there not too long after you hear a car screeching, you turn to it, stand up, and find out that he has come back. He came back, his car skidding into the lot with such haste that after stepping out of the car, he left the door swinging open. As he strode towards you, every step was charged with urgency. His eyes, wide and determined, never left yours. The evening breeze tousled his hair, but he seemed oblivious to everything but you.

As he walked towards you, there you were, tipsy and vulnerable, an obvious contrast to his seemingly unfeeling exterior. Despite his harsh demeanor, he knew he couldn't leave you there alone, especially not in your current state and certainly not after the cruel words he had said.

He approached you, his expression unreadable, yet his actions betrayed him. He grabbed your wrist, ready to take you with him. "I can't leave you here," he said, his voice lacking warmth, yet there was an underlying urgency, a hint of something more.

You looked up at him. Matching your eyes with his, your jaw trembles with sheer anger, reminding you of your heart aching from the pain of his earlier words, but also from the complexity of your feelings for him. It was clear he still felt something, even if he couldn't express it. He was the epitome of contradiction - cold, yet unable to truly walk away from you. "So?" you talk back.

He didn't offer apologies or sweet words, only a stark offer. "I'm taking you home. You're in no state to be left alone," he stated more as a command than a request.

As he led you to his car, his grip was firm but careful, as if he was afraid to cause you more harm. Inside, you were a whirlwind of emotions. His heartless demeanor hurt, but the fact that he came back for you, that he couldn't leave you in such a state, meant something. It was a confusing, painful kind of care, one that left you wondering what place you truly held in his life.

As he led you away, you recoiled, your voice laced with a newfound strength. "I'm not going anywhere with you," you declared, the alcohol in your system fueling your defense. "Not after what you said."

He paused, his expression hardening. "You're not thinking straight. I'm not asking you, I'm telling you," he retorted, his tone brooking no argument.

"Well, that's your outlook. I'm leaving on my own" You turn towards your car leaving the ball in his court.

"Y/N" he called you out, his voice hinged with a stern warning.

Despite his stern warning, you continue walking, undeterred. His frustration escalates, and he screams, "Y/N" his voice echoing with the intensity of his emotions as you keep walking away.

Finally, his patience snapped. In one swift motion, he grabbed your arm, smoothly and swiftly turned you towards him, and hoisted you over his shoulder, ignoring your protests.

"Jungkook!" "What are you doing?" "Let me down right now!" You were shocked by his actions and started pounding on his back, demanding to be let down, but he was more stubborn than you were. He carried you to his car, his grip unyielding, and with a rough gesture, he placed you in the passenger seat, securing the seatbelt around you.

The drive was tense, filled with your muffled sobs and his stony silence. You were a mix of anger, hurt, and confusion, while he seemed to be battling his own demons. The night air was thick with the unsaid, a heavyweight that sat between you, leaving you both isolated in your own turmoil. Despite the physical closeness, the emotional distance was palpable.

As the car sped through the quiet streets, the silence between you two was deafening. The tension was getting stronger. Finally, unable to bear the silence any longer, you turned to him, your voice steady despite the turmoil inside.

"I'm leaving for Seoul first thing in the morning," you announced, the decision carrying the weight of finality. "This... whatever this is between us, it ends here."

He kept his eyes on the road, but you noticed a subtle tightening of his jaw, a flicker of something — pain, regret, maybe both — crossing his features before he masked it with his usual stoicism. "Is that what you really want?" he asked, his voice betraying a hint of vulnerability that he rarely showed.

"Yes," you replied, the simplicity of the word belying the complexity of emotions behind it. "I need a fresh start, away from everything... away from you."

You watched as he processed your words. His grip on the steering wheel tightened, and for a moment, you saw a glimmer of the turmoil he kept hidden beneath his composed exterior. The man who had always been stone cold, now seemed to be struggling with a storm of emotions, a stark contrast to his usual detached demeanor.

The rest of the drive passed in silence, each of you lost in your own thoughts. You were resolute in your decision, feeling a mix of relief and sorrow at the thought of leaving everything behind, especially him. He, on the other hand, maintained his thoughts and feelings as concealed as ever.

As you and Jungkook approach his house, the presence of everyone else's cars, along with a few unfamiliar ones, immediately catches your attention. The oddity of the situation is taking over you two; this was supposed to be a night of celebration for Jimin and HyeYeon's engagement, yet here everyone was, gathered at Jungkook's place unexpectedly.

Jungkook casts a glance towards you, his eyes reflecting the same confusion and concern that you feel. "Something's not right," he mutters, more to himself than to you. The usually unreadable expression on his face is replaced with a hint of worry.

He steps out of the car briskly, his movements sharp and decisive. "Follow me, Y/N" he urges, his voice low but firm. Despite the tension between you two, there's an unspoken agreement that whatever is happening inside is more pressing.

You follow him, your own apprehension growing with each step. The sound of muffled voices becomes clearer as you ascend the stairs. Jungkook reaches the door first, pausing momentarily as if to brace himself for whatever lies beyond it.

As he opens the door, the scene inside takes you by surprise. The living room is filled with everyone you know addition to a couple of unfamiliar faces, their expressions a mix of concern, confusion, and in some cases, barely concealed panic. Jimin and HyeYeon are there too, looking nothing like a couple who should be celebrating their engagement.

The atmosphere is thick with an unspoken tension, the air charged with a sense of urgency that you can't quite place. Your gaze meets Jungkook's, and in that brief exchange, you both understand that something significant, perhaps even alarming, has occurred.

Jungkook steps forward, his usual confidence somewhat subdued by the uncertainty of the situation. "What's going on? Why are you all here?" "Namjoon Hyung? What's wrong?" he asks, his voice cutting through the murmurs of the room.

The room falls silent as everyone's attention shifts to Jungkook, and by extension, to you. The gravity of the situation is evident, and you brace yourself for the revelation that's about to come.

Namjoon's voice cuts through the tension in the room as he stands up. The attention shifts to him, and a hush falls over everyone. "Ahn Bo Hyun," he says, and the reaction is immediate. You turn to Jungkook and notice a visible change in him. The mention of that name brings a wave of rage to his face, an emotion so raw and palpable that it seems to momentarily change the very air around him.

"He's back, and this time he's prepared," "Jin Hyung-" He glances at you briefly before continuing "He called me earlier telling me the reason why he couldn't make it to the dinner" Namjoon continues, his voice laced with a deep concern that seems to resonate with everyone in the room. It's clear that Namjoon's worry is not just for the situation itself but for the safety of his loved ones, a sentiment that everyone present shares. "He is trying to get as much information as possible to avoid something we all have never imagined" he adds.

Taehyung, usually the more light-hearted among the group, speaks up, adding to the gravity of the situation. "Ahn Bo Hyun, he wants to take over again. He has threatened us. But it's not us he's going after this time," Taehyung says, his voice tinged with an edge of seriousness. "He's targeting our people, those who are innocent, who have nothing to do with our conflicts. He's planning to hunt everyone down... and you know what that means."

The implications of Taehyung's words hang heavily in the room. The threat posed by Ahn Bo Hyun is no longer just a confrontation; it's more sinister, targeting the most vulnerable and uninvolved. This tactic is not just an attack but a cruel form of manipulation, leveraging your weakest points - your loved ones and innocent associates.

Jungkook's hands ball into fists at his sides, his jaw clenched tight. The anger in him is palpable, a storm brewing beneath the surface. The realization that the threat extends beyond their immediate circle, endangering those they care about, adds a new level of urgency to the situation.

The group exchanges looks of determination and understanding of the stakes. It's not just about defending themselves anymore; it's about protecting those who are unwittingly caught in the vendetta. A silent agreement passes between them that they will do whatever it takes to shield their people from harm. The battle lines have been drawn, and the fight ahead promises to be as much about safeguarding the innocent as it is about confronting the enemy.
