"It wasn't you who shot me that night?" You tug onto Jungkook's jacket and turn him towards you, face to face, being devastated knowing the truth.
He clenches his teeth to hide his guilty expressions and rolls his eyes away from you.
"Jungkook, I am asking you something" you hold him from his collar and pull him close to you, wanting him to look at you and tell you the truth.
"What?" "You thought he was the one who shot you?" Jimin, who was still standing there, watches you question Jungkook.
"Of course I did. I never turned back and saw who shot me. I only knew that he was the only person standing behind me and even he never denied shooting me when I kept taunting him. He also agreed once to that" you complain madly to Jimin, almost on the verge of tearing up realizing how you have been blaming Jungkook for your condition whereas he was the one taking care of you and making sure you are safe and sound.
"Why would you lie to her, kook?" Jimin asks, confused and steps close to him.
"I had my reasons, hyung" , answering to him, Jungkook holds your hands and harshly gets them off his clothes. "Listen Y/N, I am not bound to answer each and every question of yours and now if you irritate me with one more of it, I swear to God I'll forget about saving you and leave you on your own-"
"I'll be glad if you do that. In fact I am dying to get rid of you. Rather than being alive at the cost of your torture, I'd would prefer to fight my battles on my own and die knowing I wasn't dependent on a fucking murderer for my life" you push him away and retrieve your hand.
Witnessing you talk like that to Jungkook, Jimin seems a bit taken aback after watching how Jungkook hadn't lost his temper yet. He watches Jungkook just looking at you, clenching his teeth and his fist. He knew if someone else would have talked like that to him, he would have faced a tight punch.
"You are going too far with your words, Y/N. Too far"
Jungkook was just about to walk towards you to grab you and God knows do what to you but right before he could get you, you three heard chattering from outside and just in the next second, you heard the door unlock.
"That has to be Namjoon hyung, Taehyung and Hoseok hyung" Jimin immediately gets alerted after informing Jungkook.
As soon as Jungkook hears that, he grabs your wrist and pulls you towards him.
"Y/N, no matter what happens, I want you to stay quiet. Please" he says the last word with all seriousness which was glazed with a little bit of fear for you, looking in your eyes. Saying that he pushes you behind himself.
"I am so fucking tired today" you hear someone walk inside the apartment, followed by other pairs of footsteps.
"Ah! It was a long day, I know" another voice comes from the entrance, this one sounded merrier.
"Did Jungkook take care of those men who were chasing him? He must have been so brutal with them. He hates being followed" third voice, different from first two is audible to you more louder as they keep walking in.
"Hyung....." Jimin hesitates telling the truth.
"Jungkook!" "You are home already? Did you take care of the bodies-" one of those three guys with dark brown hair enters the living room, registering Jungkook's presence but suddenly stops noticing you behind him.
The other two, one with blonde highlights and another one, the tallest walk in, having their eyes on you and a frown on their forehead.
"This girl?" The guy with blonde highlights speaks and stops a bit away from you and Jungkook, trying to understand what's happening.
"Jungkook, didn't you call early in the morning today and tell us that you took care of her? Why am I seeing her in our house, alive?" The tall guy starts walking close to you both slowly and questions in an intimidating way, even making Jungkook afraid a little.
After you take a few seconds to clearly look at those three people's faces, you realize that the dark haired guy and this tall guy were the ones who were following you that night before Jungkook kidnapped you.
"Did you just lie to us, Jungkook?" The dark haired guy squints his eyes towards Jungkook, suspiciously.
"Jungkook, we have known you for years. I can tell that you are hiding something from us" blonde highlights guy speak, being the most patient one amongst those 3.
"Oh! You guys are home already?" Yoongi walks in with a smirk on his face holding his phone in his hands. "I was about to give you a call, Namjoon," he talks to the tall guy.
Seeing how the situation had gotten worse and more intimidating, you unknowingly tug onto Jungkook's jacket from behind. Feeling that, Jungkook takes a glance at you, turning his face to the side. He then slides his hand behind his back and takes your hand into him to console you.
Watching Jungkook do that, the expression on everyone's faces changes to slightly being taken aback.
"Hyung" Jungkook looks at Namjoon. "Taehyung hyung is right. I lied to you guys and also as Hoseok hyung said, I am hiding something from you" Jungkook confessed.
"Did one of us just break the rules?" Namjoon suddenly clenches his jaw tightly and looks around at everyone, not believing what he just heard. "Jeon Jungkook!" He groans. "What the hell is going on?"
"Hyung I-"
"Hyung I'll tell you what happened and I know you will understand" Jimin suddenly steps in as a savior of the two of you.
"It's okay, Hyung. I'll handle this'' Jungkook takes back hold of the conversation. "Namjoon hyung, remember two years ago when I suddenly disappeared for a week? I disappeared because I was extremely depressed and wanted to kill myself. One night I decided to end it all at once by ending myself so I stood on a footpath, waiting for someone driving their car fast. After I spotted one, I was ready to jump in front of it but just when I was about to do that, Y/N pulled me back, saving me from collision. I don't know what I was trying to do but the second I fell on the road with Y/N and realized that I just dodged death, I felt relieved after knowing I was alive and knew that I would have regretted what I was going to do. Y/N saved my life that day and this time it was my chance to return her the favour. I am sorry for breaking the rules but I just couldn't let her die after what she did for me"
You heard that, everybody heard that. Taking a solid minute to register everything he said, it then hits you. Now you remember why Jungkook's eyes were familiar. That day he was wearing a mask over his mouth and his hood on. That day when you were waiting at the signal to cross the road and for it to turn green, you noticed a guy standing near you in all black, his face barely visible. It was only you and him on that side of the road. After a sudden rush of vehicles started arriving fast from the release of another signal, the guy out of nowhere walked into the road and stood before the cars.
You don't know what happened to you but it was also like a reflex when you ran to him, held him tightly and pulled the heck out of him back to the footpath before the car could hit him not being able to have sudden controls over the brakes. You both fell on the ground and as soon as that happened, you started crying and yelling at him for what he attempted to do. You were so shocked and frightened by his actions that you couldn't stop crying. You hugged him the moment you guys got stable. You were crying for legit minutes and scolded him. You even told him about how you would help him get better and that he shouldn't attempt to do this ever again. After you released him from the tight hug, he matched his eyes with you, being shook from your selfless reaction. The second he came into his senses after watching the crowd gather, he pushed you away and dashed off, never showing his face ever again.
"Jungkook....." you mumble with your grip on his shirt tightening and look at him not believing that he was the same person you met 2 years ago and that this was the favour he was talking about the whole time. You couldn't measure how startled you are.
"Hyung, you wouldn't know but Jungkook looked for her for a whole year before he finally found her. It's obvious for him to do this knowing she was about to get killed," Jimin adds. "I know he would never let anything happen to her after that"
"You knew about this?" Taehyung questions being surprised.
"Of course I did. I was the only one who would understand him. You all are too heartless to understand and accept a thing like this. We guys only know how to kill but there are some who know how to save lives and that deed of theirs is remembered by the savior for their whole life. I don't think you guys can do anything about him protecting her. He won't stop at any cost and this is why he had to go against all of us" Jimin speaks disappointingly, looking at those 4 one by one.
"Well that was intense and unexpected" Yoongi twists his face a bit and seems intrigued.
Noticing Namjoon's and Hoseok's silence, Jungkook proceeds to apologize. "Hyung, I am sorry that I had to break the rules to save her but I promise it's the first and last time of me doing that. You guys are my everything but she is important to me. You guys gave me a life after what happened to me but she saved my life. I don't know what to say anymore but I am sincerely apologetic to all of you. I promise not to jeopardize us 7 ever in the future again" saying that Jungkook hardens his grip around your hand.
"I heard you all, Jungkook. Now you have to listen to me" Namjoon finally breaks his silence.
"I now understand what she means to you but you need to keep in mind that other than your savior, she is also a witness to a murder we committed and it's another rule of ours to never let the witness live even if they innocent for our own safety. That's how it works. Considering your story, I am going to give you 2 options for us to work and be together here after. I want two promises from you and only then you can be a part of us" after saying this, he examines Jungkook's expressions.
"Namjoon" Hoseok interferes, not wanting to lose Jungkook and therefore not being satisfied with Namjoon wanting to keep terms and conditions. He was soon overruled by Namjoon showing him his hand telling to not intervene.
"Yes, Hyung. I'll do anything to be here" Jungkook replies with full determination.
Yoongi smirks at the discussion going and casually takes a seat on the couch.
"Alright. We will see about that. The first promise I want you to keep is; I want you to take care that if there's ever any police case involved regarding the murder she witnessed or anything related to us, she won't open her mouth. She has now seen everyone of us except Jin Hyung and it's enough for her to sabotage us. If she ever fails to do that, I will personally go and end her for our security. Second one would be....." Namjoon takes a look at you before continuing.
"After tomorrow, you will never ever meet her. She is the sole reason why today one of us broke the rules for the first time in all these years after following them strictly. I don't want any of us to break it again. I am only letting it go this time because of the history between you two and because we are more than grateful for her to save someone of ours but this is it. You have to end it here, Jungkook. In future if you ever fail to keep the promise, you are out. Never show us your face again" Namjoon ends his terms and stands there waiting for Jungkook to respond.
Rest of them exchange glances being intimidated after listening to such harsh conditions. Yoongi was the only one enjoying the discussion going on.
No. This can't be happening. He can't keep the 2nd promise. There is no way he can do that. You walk closer to him and hold his hand with another of yours, being afraid of him saying yes to Namjoon's conditions and promise him all that. After a few seconds of Jungkook contemplating, his grip around your hand loosens. Your heart immediately starts pounding in your chest for an unknown reason.
"I promise you, hyung. I promise all of you. You all are more important to me" he ends everything then and there saying those words and lets go of your hand.
Your heart drops in your stomach listening to that and losing touch with him.
"As I expected" Namjoon being satisfied with Jungkook's response, he then passes him a small smile and takes a cold glance at you before starting to leave. Everyone else starts to disperse too. Jimin passes a nod at Jungkook before leaving you two alone.
After everyone leaves, Jungkook turns towards you, holds your wrist and starts taking him with you. Opening a room door, he takes you in and locks the door close behind him.
After turning at you, standing close to you, he lays his eyes on you and then you notice tears pooling in his eyes.
"Y/N, I....." he had no words.
"There is no way we are seeing each other for the last time, Jungkook. No way" you start shaking your head in denial and take a step away from him, jerking his hand off you. Even your eyes tear up seeing him and realizing what happened outside.
"Why do you even want to see me again? I thought you were dying to get rid of me" he speaks slowly and in a low voice, calmly for the first time.
"That was before I discovered about the favour you kept talking about. Also, you never hurt me, Jungkook. How can I hate you anymore? You don't even know what's going on in my heart and my head since I've met you. I have much of a safer and simpler life without you but from the second I've been with you, it was like being with you felt more alive. I don't know how that is even possible after how many times I almost died being with you but that's how it is now. I don't want you to get rid of you. I want you to make me a part of your life" you slowly walk close to him and tug onto his sleeve, near his palm, softly.
You look at him with hopefulness but he looks at you being helpless. He just keeps looking at you as if filling up your image in his mind for the last time.
"Say something.....please" tears roll down your eyes and you feel like your world is tearing apart.
Seeing you like that, he looks away in a random direction, not being able to look at you crying.
"You should get some sleep. I'll drop you at your house in the morning" he suddenly speaks in a cold way, stealing his eyes and leaves, not letting you speak anything anymore.
He was hiding his feelings by hiding the tears in his eyes. Why is he like that? He needs to know that he deserves to be happy and does not have to live like this.
You sit on the bed and slowly burst into tears. Palming your face you try and quietly cry out.
Jungkook, he is not a good person ethically. He kills people and even innocent ones sometimes. He has anger issues, he tortured you verbally and even physically at times but at the same time he went against his own people and saved your life by playing on his own. He never let anyone cause you any harm the whole time you were with him. He stood before like a guard, ready to fight the world just for you to be alright. You weren't sure how he felt about you but you sure have started caring about him irrationally. You know nothing about him but you knew that by heart, he is the type of person who would kill or get killed just to save someone he cares about. Maybe he has that signature cold attitude of his because of the way he was raised in this dirty world.
No one ever did something like this for you, even the ones who were supposed to but a stranger did. It was all selfless.
For unknown reasons, you have attached yourself to him in a very short period of time. You hate fights, you hate yelling, you hate the negativity, you hate the verbal violence but suddenly you know you were going to miss all this coming from Jungkook. It was toxic but at the same time comforting. You were going to miss him being rude to you but then being caring as hell in the next moment. You were going to miss him. A lot.
