"You okay? Is Ray getting heavy?" Klaus taunts as we hike up the mountain towards his pack. Stefan is carrying Ray over his shoulders since he is still dead from me snapping his neck. Poor Stef, always getting the shitty job.
"I'm fine." Stefan replies stiffly.
"You sure about that, I mean we've been walking for some time now...if you need some water, or a little sit down." Klaus teases, a small smirk on his face.
"You know I get that we are stuck together, but if we could maybe just skip the chit chat. That would be great." Stefan gives him a tight smile, trying not to glare at the hybrid douche.
"Oh quit your brooding Stefan. I can practically smell your self loathing." I sigh, walking backwards now to face the boys that I was ahead of. HAHA, I was ahead of them. Beat that.
"Maybe I'm just tired of hunting werewolves, we've been at it all summer." Stefan glares, Klaus and I both sharing the end of it. Ouch.
"Well, thanks to Ray, we've found ourselves a pack." I say, stopping and looking at all the werewolves in the clearing. They are all chatting and packing away there tents and shit.
Klaus walks right into the clearing, gaining everyone's attention. The werewolves gather together, glaring at us suspiciously. Stefan throws Ray to the ground.
"Ray!" a girl cries, running over to him. She lifts his head in her lap, feeling for a pulse. "What's going on?" she whispers, another guy joining the girl now. The girl glares at us, "Who are you?"
"The important question is, who am I?" Klaus smirks, always wanting to be the center of attention. "Sorry for the intrusion, my name is Klaus."
Fear instantly takes over all there faces, the girl slowly standing up, taking a few steps away from us. "You're the hybrid." she states.
"You've heard of me." Klaus grins, "Fantastic."
"God, you have such a big ego." I sigh, going over and taking a seat on a large boulder. I flip my hair away from my face, catching the eye of one of the werewolf guys. I wink at him, giving him a small smirk. He's cute enough to flirt with.
"Stop flirting Aria." Stefan commands, taking a seat next to me. Klaus takes a seat on the other side of me, stretching out.
"I'm just having fun." I mutter, causing Stefan to give me a disapproving look. Jesus, he's supposed to be fun these days.
"It's fascinating actually, a werewolf who isn't a slave to the moon, a vampire who doesn't burn in the sun. A true hybrid." Klaus smirks, bringing the subject back to hybrids. Ray gasps, his body convulsing, before he opens his eyes. "Excellent timing Ray, very dramatic."
"What's happing to me?" Ray demands. God, we already explained it dumbass, you're becoming a hybrid.
"Aria?" Klaus asks, nodding at me.
I stand up, looking around the pack of werewolves. "Are any of you human?" When no one makes a move, I sigh. "Your friend here needs human blood, he's in transition to become a vampire. If he doesn't get it, he will die." I warn, hoping some miserable person cares enough about him to save him.
"It doesn't take much, just a sip." Klaus points out, that smirk still glued to his handsome face. I mean ugly face. Right...? "Anyone? A boyfriend, a girlfriend? Just along for the ride?" Klaus questions, his head snapping towards the guy next to the girl. "You." he speeds over to the guy, biting into the humans wrist.
Klaus throws the guy to me and I easily take him down to the ground, my hand pinned around the guys throat. I force his arm out, holding it in front of Ray. "Either you drink, or I drink. Problem is, I don't give a shit about this guy so I will kill him." I threaten, hearing Klaus restraining his girlfriend by the sounds of it. Stefan is just watching amused like he does all the time.
Ray looks at the guys arm before taking it and digging his teeth into the guys arm. I let go of the guy, looking up at Klaus who is forcing his blood down the girl's throat.
"She'll thank me later." he laughs, before snapping her neck. He drops her to the ground, looking around at all the other werewolves. He licks some of the blood off his hands, which is kind of disgusting since it's his blood. "Now, who's next?" Klaus grins, his fangs out and veins appearing under his eyes.
This is going to be a long night people...
âââââââââââââââââââ-
Stefan snaps the last werewolves neck, throwing him down to the ground. Ugh it smells so bad right now, it smells like dead dog. It's disturbing.
Klaus feeds the human guy his blood, healing the wound Ray gave him. "Good as new." Klaus mumbles, "Now relax mate, the others are going to need you when they wake up." Klaus compels him, the guy giving him a small nod in return.
I frown, looking back over at Ray who is shivering, his arms wrapped around himself. He looks terrible. He sure as hell doesn't look like he is transiting to a vampire...
"They're dead. They're all dead." Ray whispers, looking around horrified at all his dead pack members. It's hard for him to even talk since he is shivering and shaking so much.
"He doesn't seem right Klaus." I state the obvious, causing Klaus to stand up, looking our way.
"He's going through his transition, he should be feeling better soon." Klaus replies, but not even he looks sure about that. Klaus has never done this before. This is something that Klaus and I are equally experienced at.
"So is this your master plan?" Stefan demands, gesturing to the scene around him, "To build an army of hybrid slaves?"
"No, not slaves." Klaus sighs, "Soldiers. Comrades."
"For what war?" Stefan questions, his tone harsh. "Might I ask." he adds, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
"You don't arm yourself after a war has been declared Stefan. You build your army so big, that no one ever dares to pick a fight." Klaus smirks.
"What makes you so sure they will be loyal? You're not the easiest guy to be around." I point out.
"It's not difficult to be loyal when you're on the winning team." Klaus glares at me, not liking my comment. What? It's true. "That's something you both will learn once you shake those horribly, depressive chips off your shoulders." Klaus grins, causing Stefan to laugh slightly. Aw, they're getting along. How un-cute of them.
"That's why you keep us around? To witness our attitude adjustment?" Stefan laughs again, this time without humor. Maybe the time before he was just scoffing or something.
Klaus sits down next to Ray, making Ray face him. "You'll know why I keep you two around, when I want you two to know." Klaus answers, studying Ray. "Something is wrong." he frowns, causing Stefan and and I to take a look. I gasp when I see tears of blood coming down Ray's eyes. That's scary.
"Huh, that shouldn't be happening, should it?" Stefan almost smirks, happy Klaus' plan is failing. I'm not because it's just going to make him more grumpy and murderous.
"Well obviously." Klaus glares. See, I told you he gets super grumpy and shit.
âââââââââââââââââââââ
"You said it was going to feel better. Why doesn't it feel better?" Ray asks, still shivering like a mad man. I think he is a mad man. He sure as hell looks like one right now.
Klaus crosses his arms, frowning at his failed hybrid. He's not too good at this.
I lean up against the tree, crossing my arms also. "Some master race." I mock.
"Loose the attitude." Klaus snaps, right as the girl gasps awake. I look over at her amused, knowing she's going to be another failure. "Derek, come feed your girlfriend." Klaus commands, talking to the human guy. Derek stands up, walking over to Klaus.
Ray snarls his eyes turning yellow. I jump away, right as he jumps up, speeding away. Stefan and I watch him run away, Ray jumping over boulders and shit. We turn around, giving Klaus stunned expressions.
"Go after him." Klaus sighs, looking done with the world. Poor Klaus, he's in a bad mood.
Stefan and I speed away, Stefan getting to Ray first. Stefan tackles him, trying to pin him down to the ground. Ray unfortunately is stronger than Stefan and grabs Stefan's arm, biting it. I gasp and pull Ray away from Stefan throwing him into a tree.
Stefan groans in pain, holding his arm. Eew, that's a nasty looking bite. "Aria!" Stefan warns, and I spin around in time to see Ray coming at me. I try to doge him but he grabs ahold of my hair. I cry out, trying to avoid his teeth. Before Stefan can help me, Ray lets go of my hair, throwing me into a rock. Hard.
I groan, just lying there for a second. Ow, that hurt. I sit up, rubbing my head, the wound already healing. Stefan offers his hand, and I take it, getting up slowly. I'm about to comment on the bite on his arm but familiar voice stop me.
I look at Stefan, making sure I'm not crazy and imaging things. I run over to the side of the cliff, looking over at the people hiking there way up. Oh God....what are they doing here?
"You know I can help you." Damon sighs.
"No thanks." Elena replies, almost falling over her feet.
"One little whoosh." Damon makes a hand gesture like he's flying up. He looks so hot right now...shut up Aria.
"With my luck, you'd drop me." Elena shrugs, her backpack falling off her shoulders. She bends over, throwing it back over her shoulder.
"What are you guys? 12?" Ric demands, listening to there bickering. Why are they up here? It's a full moon tonight, they could get eaten. Plus Klaus can not know that Elena is alive.
Stefan and I spin around when we hear tree branches rustling behind us. "Where did he go?" Klaus questions.
"Yeah, he got away. Forget him lets go." Stefan says quickly, trying to walk away. We can't let Klaus notice them.
Klaus grabs Stefan's arm, stopping him. He looks at the bite on Stefan's arm, an almost amused look on his face. Ass "Fatal werewolf bite...ouch." he smirks.
"Yeah, I'm going to need your blood to heal." Stefan says.
"Well, I'll tell you what. You and Aria find Ray, then I'll heal you." Klaus shrugs, a small smirk still pleasant on his annoying face.
Stefan lets out a disbelieved laugh, "You can't be serious."
"You better hurry...that bite looks nasty." Klaus says, before walking off into the forest.
Stefan lets out an astonished sigh, looking over me. I shrug, not that surprised by Klaus' answer.
It's time to hunt a werewolf.....While trying to avoid my boyfriend, who is Stefan's brother, and trying to avoid Stefan's girlfriend, who is my twin... Not complicated or anything, right?
ââââââââââââââââââââââ
I hear fighting coming from right, deciding if I should go or not. Stefan went the complete opposite direction, so that means it's Damon probably. I really shouldn't see him. I'm trying to let him go right now. I can't let him die though.
"Damn you Damon Salvatore." I mutter, speeding over to where the fighting is. I stop, seeing Ray trying to bite Damon while Damon is pinned against a tree, trying to keep Ray away from him.
I stick my hand into Ray's back, wincing at the digesting feel of it, before pulling out his heart. Klaus is going to kill me for that...I just killed his hybrid thing.
I drop his heart on the ground, my nose scrunching up in disgust and wiping my hand off on my pants. Great, going to need to change now.
"Ari?" I look up at Damon, mustering the best glare I can.
"What did you not understand that Stefan told you and that I told you? Huh!? He told you to stop following us, just in case you forgot." I seethe, hating how cruel I sound. Damon needs to stop caring about me. It'll be better for him.
"Tell your sister that not me, she wanted to come up here. She won't give up on Stefan." Damon replies, calmly. An emotion in his eyes I've never seen before shines.
"Don't act like you didn't want to Damon. You haven't given up on me, have you?" I question, actually kind of hoping he says he hasn't. Ugh, I'm so bipolar. I want him to, and I don't want him to. Jesus, Aria. Get your shit together women.
"Of course I haven't given up on you Aria, I never will. If you want me to though, stop with the phone calls then." he glares.
"That was a mistake. You have to give up on me Damon, I've given up on you. I am never going to come back. Mystic Falls isn't the place for me anymore." I say, only lying slightly. I haven't been able to bring myself to let him go.
"It's your home, it will always be your home Aria. You act like you're such a monster now, but I know you're not. I can see it in your eyes. You're still the same girl I fell in love with." he insists, hope gleaming in his.
I use my strength, pushing him back up against the tree. "I am not your Aria anymore." I take out the stake I always carry with me, stabbing it into his abdomen. He groans out in pain, causing me to scream out on the inside. "Get my sister, and leave. Let go of Stefan and I, both of you. If we ever see you two following us again, we won't give you another chance to leave." I pull the stake out, causing him to fall to his knees. I turn around before I can see the hatred and betrayal in his eyes.
"It's not that easy to get rid of me Ari." I spin around but he is already gone. I put my hand over my mouth, trying to not scream. What the hell am I doing with my life? I'm pushing away the most important person in my life. But Damon didn't sound like he was giving up...
He sounded like he was just getting started.
âââââââââââââââââââ-
Stefan and I trudge back to camp, Ray's dead body slung over his shoulders. Klaus is gonna be pissed when he sees that Ray is dead...well maybe not....
Klaus is sitting down on the log, looking depressed as hell. All around him, are dead, failed hybrids. Looks like Ray wasn't the only one who didn't get made exactly as planned. Serves Klaus right.
Stefan throws Ray's body on the ground, bending over, and holding his bite in pain. Crap, Klaus needs to heal him. Like now.
"They all went rabid...some I killed...the other ones, bled out." Klaus whispers, standing up off the log. "In the end, they're all dead." Klaus states, his grip on the beer bottle in his hand tightening. Klaus throws the bottle into a tree, yelling out in frustration. I wince when he yells louder, sounding like it physically hurt him to see his hybrids die. "I did everything I was told!" he screams, pointing at Stefan and I. "I should be able to turn them, I broke the curse. I killed a werewolf, I killed a vampire...I killed the doppleganger that mattered." Wow thanks...
Wait...it's not working because Elena is alive! Oh shit...oh shit. If he finds out...he'll kill her. For real this time.
Klaus suddenly looks up off the floor and at Stefan and I. I hold his stare worried that if I don't he'll know that something is up. Stefan has the same game face I do right now. We can't let him find out about Elena. If he does...I can't even think about that right now, even though I have been a lot...again, I'm freaking bipolar. Maybe that's a side effect of a vampire?
"You look like hell." Klaus comments, his eyes on Stefan.
"Last I checked, I'm dying. You don't want to heal me." Stefan glares, that new found sass showing.
Klaus' eyes travel over to Ray's dead body. "I had to take him out, I had no other choice. I know we failed you Klaus, and I'm sorry. I really am." I apologize, taking a few steps closer to him. "Do whatever you have to do to us." I say, willing to accept whatever he wants to do to me, or Stefan for the matter.
"It should have worked." Klaus sighs, walking back over to the log he was sitting on. He reaches down, grabbing an empty beer bottle. He turns back around, facing Stefan and I. Great, he's going to kill me with a beer bottle...
Klaus' eyes turn yellow and he bites into his hand, squeezing the blood into the bottle. He holds it out to Stefan, "Bottoms up." Stefan walks forward cautiously, taking the bottle from him. "We're leaving." Klaus announces, looking around at all the dead hybrids. "It appears you two are the only comrades I have left."
Klaus turns around, walking away from us.
"You mean friends, I think." I say, causing him to stop in his tracks. I see him tense up, and actually think he is going to turn around and say something nice back. Of course, he doesn't though, and he just keeps walking. Typical Klaus...
Stefan drinks Klaus' blood, throwing the beer bottle to the ground. I look at him, thinking things over before I take his hand in mine, a small smile on my face. "We should get going now. We're still Klaus' bitches."
