I bang on his door as loud as I can, not in the mood to stand outside. He better not make me wait one damn second longer or I'm going to get more aggravated than I already am.
After a few moments of loud banging, he finally opens up the door. His eyes trail down to the bags in my hands, before he smirks. "I didn't know we were in that stage of our relationship."
I roll my eyes and push past him, walking to the living room. I toss my bags down on the sofa and pour myself a drink. I have not drank in so long, I think I may be going through withdraws. "I had to get to away from Elena, she is literally going to drive me crazy. Last night I was breaking things and... I just needed to get away." I shrug, drowning the glass easily.
"You need a distraction then?" Damon does the ET thing, speeding over in front of me.
I raise my eyebrows, smirking slightly. "I need a very good distraction."
"Well, I think I can help you." he smirks back and starts to lean in but I step away.
"Maybe later." I shrug sending him an innocent smile.
"Tonight, later?" he questions, trying to be all seductive. Let me tell you, he's very good at it.
"Possibly, I do need somewhere to sleep after all." I grin, finishing off my second drink. "I saw your text about Jenna's barbecue, why did you plan it?" I ask changing the mood a little.
"Well, Jenna went to high school with our boy Mason Lockwood so I figured it would be a great chance to get to know him. So I asked Ric and he asked Jenna..." Damon trails off knowing I got the idea.
"Does Jenna know your going to be there? She kind of hates you." I tease, while Damon just shrugs.
"I bought a pie, pie always equals peace." I can't help it, I burst out laughing. It's just too funny. Imagine Damon saying that and try not to laugh.
See, you can't.
After a few seconds, I try to compose myself. When I look back at Damon, he's frowning. He doesn't like people laughing at him. It's an ego issue. "How is going to dinner with Mason going to help you?" I question trying to change the subject, again.
"I'm going to stick some silver into Mason Lockwood and prove he's a werewolf." Damon answers with a slight grin. Why killing people makes him so happy, I will never know.
"Damon... what if it doesn't...you know, kill him? Then you will have a werewolf hunting your ass. I would prefer if maybe you didn't try to kill Mason." I glare, not wanting Damon to get hurt. Yes, okay! I'm worried.
"Ah, your worrying is cute Ari but there is no need to. Even if I don't kill him, I know I could take him. He's only strong on a full moon. I'm badass 24/7." Damon smirks starting to head towards the front door. He turns back to me, giving me a questioning glance. "You want a ride or not?"
I sigh but grab my jacket anyway, running to catch up to him. I'm pretty sure this is the weirdest barbecue I've ever gone to. Let's see there will be two dopplegangers, a werwolf, a vampire, a vampire hunter, and a human.
This should be good.
--------------
I take a deep breath and raise my hand to knock on the door but I just hold my fist in the air. I just can't bring myself to do it...I know it's really stupid. Damon watches me for a few moments before ringing the doorbell. I glare at him but keep my mouth shut, I'm actually thankful he did that.
Elena opens up the door and her eyes widen when she sees me. "Aria?" she questions, stunned. I look at her for a few moments before I push past her and into the house. I hear Elena and Damon whispering to each other, do I even want to know what there talking about? Probably about me and that I'm unstable right now. Yeah, that sounds just right.
When I walk into the kitchen, I see Jenna pouring some chips and brace myself. She is not going to be happy. "Hey, Aria. Feels like I haven't seen you in forever." Jenna smiles, turning around to face me.
I stare at her for a few seconds completely dumbfounded, "Hey?"
"Why does it sound like you're shy? Aria, I've known you all your life, you have never been shy." Jenna laughs and I think the world might be ending. Why is she not yelling at me yet?
"No, I'm still not shy, I never will be. Being shy is just too...boring." I smirk, forgetting about the topic for a second. I quickly shake my head and wipe the smirk off my face. "Why aren't you yelling at me? I figured you would be furious."
"What? By the fact that you moved in with your 24 year old boyfriend and you're only 16?" Jenna questions, smiling slightly. Well, he technically is 147ish. Okay, not making it sound any less creepy Aria.
"Why don't you sound mad?"
"I know you and Elena are having a lot of problems, I've heard you two yelling at each other. I get it, you need space. I'm okay with you living with Damon for a while but only a short while. You need to make up with Elena soon, like very soon." Jenna shrugs like she couldn't care less.
I can't help the grin that comes across my face. "Wow, you are like the best parental figure ever."
Jenna laughs and shakes her head, "Don't try to suck up, Aria."
"Thanks for letting me invite Caroline today, she really needed something to get her mind off things. You're the nicest Aunt ever!" I yell the last part in a high, girly voice. "Wait...is that sucking up?" I smirk, while Jenna just rolls her eyes and continues to pour chips.
"Haha, good news! Found the shot glasses!" Mason grins coming into the room. My jaw almost drops open when I see him, he is really good looking. He is a good looking guy with alcohol, how can it get better? Well, I guess Damon is a good looking guy with alcohol.
"That is my cue, to leave. See ya guys." I smile and awkwardly scoot past Mason and out into the living room. Normally I would stay and have some shots but it's weird hanging with Mason knowing Damon is going to most kill him. It's just weird...
On my way out Damon walks in and gives me a wink. I roll my eyes and mutter under my breath, "Be careful, asshole." I'm pretty sure I hear Damon laugh slightly but I keep on walking. If Mason finds out Damon is up to anything...I'm pretty sure we would be completely and utterly screwed.
------------
I walk out of the bathroom and run straight into Caroline. Like literally. I groan and rub my head since it hit hers. "Ugh, does being a vampire give you a harder head?"
Caroline frowns and looks around, paranoid. "Shhh, don't just yell it out to the world. Mason is here. Plus Jenna."
I roll my eyes, "They're in the other room Care, don't be so paranoid."
Caroline glares at me, "No one can find out about me Aria, or I'll be deader than I already am!"
"Calm your vampire emotions down, Caroline." I sigh, "Damon and Stefan have been living here for months, nobody discovered them unless they wanted somebody to. You have no reason to worry Caroline...well, maybe a slight one." I smile as innocently as I can.
Caroline shakes her head. "Sorry, I guess you're right. It's just my emotions are so screwed up, I yelled at a plant yesterday Aria. A plant." Caroline emphasizes the last part obviously not liking the heightened emotions.
"Poor plant, it must have suffered." Ric teases coming up behind us, "Food's done girls."
"Yes! I'm starving!" I yell practically sprinting towards the kitchen, nothing is better than food. Nothing.
I run into the kitchen and look at all the food on the counter, grinning like a maniac. Mason, Jenna, Elena, and Damon all look at me weirdly but decide to not stop me from getting my precious food. Very wise decision.
While I try to stuff more food on my plate, Mason walks up behind me. I try not to tense up but I do a little. "Are you sure you can eat all that?" Mason teases causing me to laugh a little.
"You would be very surprised at how much I can eat. Just ask any person in this room, they'll tell you." I grin, eating a spoonful of Jello. Lime Jello. Yummy.
"You and Tyler were a thing right?" he asks changing the subject abruptly. I frown and turn towards him.
"Yeah, were. It didn't end well." I say tensely, I haven't thought about Tyler and I's break up since I forgave him. I would prefer for those images not to come back in my head.
"What happened? The way he talks about you, you can tell he's still in love. So you obviously broke things off. Why? For that Damon guy? He's a little old, isn't he?" Mason presses, and for some reason I feel threatened. How does he know that Damon and I are dating. He has never seen us together and I highly doubt anyone told him. And why the hell is he being so persistent about Tyler?!
"You really want to know?" I question, looking down at the ground. He nods his head. I take a step closer to him, "It's none of your damn business, so leave me the hell alone and stop digging in things that are long buried." I glare at him, taking my plate of food and heading over to Damon who's talking with Jenna. When I walk up he smirks at me but it fades when he sees my angry expression.
"You so have my permission to put some silver in Mason Lockwood." I whisper in his ear so Jenna can't hear. When I pull away the smirk is back on his face.
"Whatever you say baby."
---------------
"Dress? Ballerina?" Jenna yells out trying to guess what Damon is drawing. It looks like a dog with a tutu but all the other ones have been wolves. Damon is not being real subtle with Mason, is he?
"Puppy? Puppy with a tutu?" Caroline guesses thinking the exact same thing as me.
"No." Damon groans, continuing to draw his terrible drawing. I mean, I'm a bad drawer but I think I could draw better. You would think for a 147 some year old guy, he would know how to draw.
"Ah...Hound dog!" Jenna tries and Damon gives a little nod telling her she's getting close.
"The answer is a wolf." Mason sighs, looking bored on the sofa.
"Mason wins...again." Damon smirks looking at Mason.
"How is that a wolf?" Jenna demands slightly tipsy. Jenna would never be this friendly with Damon if she wasn't. I roll my eyes, and stand up heading to the kitchen. I'm so very done with that game. Damon is making it so boring and repetitive.
I walk into the kitchen and see Elena is taking out the pie Damon bought for Jenna. He really thought a pie could make peace with her. A pie. Elena looks up at me but quickly looks down. "Jenna is slightly tipsy." I say.
"Well maybe if Damon would stop supplying her with alcohol..." Elena trails off.
"He wants her to like him." I laugh rolling my eyes. Elena smiles a little and I think were making baby steps towards forgiveness.
"So... how's operation Lockwood going?" Elena asks, a teasing tone in her voice.
"They're practically BFF's but I think they want to kill each other inside." I shrug, Damon wants to kill a lot of people. It's almost kind of normal.
Jenna comes over to us, grinning like a mad women, "There you guys are, isn't this fun?"
"Yes because you let Damon come, so thank you." I smile, actually meaning it. This party would already suck worse than it does without Damon here.
"Did I have a choice?" Jenna glares, her grin disappearing. So my sister AND Aunt hate Damon. Life just keeps getting better. "Speak of the devil." I hear Jenna mumble and look up to see Damon entering the kitchen. He smiles at Jenna but she glares at him.
Damon ignores her glare and walks over to the silverware set on the counter. "Ooo these are fancy." Damon comments, examining the silverware.
"Thanks, my Mother's silver set." Jenna says almost sarcastically. I look at Damon over Jenna's shoulder and see him taking out a large knife. A silver knife... I give Damon a warning look but he just grins at me. He's going to get himself killed, if he's not more careful.
----------------
I lounge on the couch, taking a nice, long sip of the beer I stole from the kitchen. Jenna hates it when I drink so I'm trying to hide it, but it's not going to stop me from drinking. Don't judge... it's a good stress reliever, alright?
"Would I be a terrible person if I abandon you two and went to Stefan's?" Elena questions with a guilty look in her eyes.
"I could care less where you go Elena." I shrug, finishing off the bottle in my hands. Elena glares at me and just turns towards Caroline.
"You want to leave?" Caroline questions looking a little shocked.
"It's just that Stefan hasn't gotten back to me and I'm starting to get this bad feeling." Elena explains. What is she some physic now?
"Ah, I don't think that's a good idea, Elena." Caroline argues, sounding a little panicked. I frown at Caroline, not knowing what game she is playing. If she even is playing one.
"Damon has everything under control here." Elena says, shooting Caroline a weird look.
"Take it from me, there is nothing worse than a clingy girlfriend." Caroline responds, her voice getting more nervous.
"I'm not being clingy, I'm just concerned. You understand right?" Elena asks.
Caroline looks down at the ground for a few moments before a phony smile comes across her face. "How about I drive you?"
"Yeah, sure. Sounds great, let me grab my stuff." Elena smiles back not noticing how nervous Caroline is. Once Elena is out of the room, Caroline's smile drops. A look of guilt flashes across her face. She starts to head after Elena, but I jump up, blocking her path.
"What are you up to Caroline?" I demand, knowing she's not volunteering to drive Elena out of the kindness of her heart.
"I'm not up to anything." Caroline lies, damn, she's a bad liar. Or maybe I just know her pretty well.
"You're lying Care. Why don't you want Elena to visit Stefan?" I question, glaring at her. How Elena doesn't pick up on this stuff, who knows.
"You're imaging things Aria, maybe you have had too many beers? So, why don't you get out of my way." Caroline commands, glaring right back at me.
"What are you going to do if I don't?" I challenge, seeing just how far Caroline will go right now. Caroline looks away from me for a second and I see more guilt flash across her face. She shoves me away from her, hard enough to make me fall on my ass. I stare up at her shocked. What the hell is wrong with her?!
"I'm sorry, Aria. I really am." she whispers before grabbing her bag and hurrying off to Elena. Something is really not right with her. I pull out my phone and send a quick text to Elena telling her to watch out for Caroline.
Damon walks into the room and frowns when he sees me on the ground. "How much did you drink today?" he asks, helping me up off the ground.
I roll my eyes, "I didn't drink anything, Caroline pushed me...something is up with her."
"Woah, hold up. Blondie shoved you down? Isn't she like your best friend?" Damon questions, raising his eyebrows.
"Yeah... I thought so."
----------------
I walk out of the Grill, having got my share of drinks for the day. Today has been quite a sucky day. I don't think anything productive happened. Don't worry I'm not drunk, I could only flirt myself so many drinks. It would have been nice to have Damon's compulsion but he's too busy trying to kill Mason Lockwood.
When I turn the corner of the street, I come face to face with someone I hoped never to see again. We both look each other up and down before a smirk comes over my face. "I may not like you but if I do look exactly like you, I'm pretty damn sexy."
Katherine smirks back at me. "I like you so much better than that bore Elena. She was all scared and stuff when she saw me, no fun at all."
"Yeah, Elena's not one for fun." I shrug.
"I can see, but you on the other hand are quite wild. I've asked a few people about you and from what I've heard, your the town's party girl. If you're dating Damon, you must be pretty reckless." Katherine comments, now standing right in front of me.
"You've been asking people about me? Don't worry, that's not creepy or anything." I say, taking a few steps away from her. It's a little weird with her all in my face. "You didn't bother to ask Caroline about me did you? Oh wait, you were to busy killing her to ask." I laugh coldly and shoot a glare at Katherine.
Katherine sighs, "It had to be done Arianna, I needed to get my message across."
"Oh? And what is your message Katerina?" I demand using her real name since she used my full one.
"That Stefan is mine and Elena needs to find a new boyfriend, or she'll end up dead. But this time instead of turning anyone, I'm just going to kill her. Plain and simple." Katherine shrugs.
"That's my sister your talking about killing bitch!" I seethe, Elena and I may have our rough spots but she's still my sister. Katherine is not going to lay a finger on her.
"Oh calm down, I'm not going to kill her yet. She has a purpose to me." Katherine says.
"What purpose?" I question slightly intrigued.
"You'll have to wait and see, you have a purpose also Arianna." she adds, a cruel glint in her eye.
"Wonderful, that's great. No can you go screw with someone else? I'm getting a little bored." I say nonchalantly.
Katherine laughs, "What? You want to go run back to Damon? You know he may fancy you now but how long is that going to last? You're just a human copy of me. He's been in love with me for almost 150 years, you think that he's just going to stop loving me for some...human look alike?"
"Shut up!" I growl, not wanting to hear this from her.
"You know I'm right Arianna, it's only a matter of time. You should leave him before he leaves you. Wouldn't want another person to leave poor, old you on your own, would we?" Katherine smirks, knowing she's getting under my skin. I'm not going to let her win this battle. Katherine thinks she has something over everybody, that's she is the queen. She's not, like she said, I'm her human copy. I'm not just going to fall down at her knees. It looks like I've inherited her stubbornness.
"But I will always have more people than you, won't I Katherine? I have family, friends, people who I can rely on and trust. You? Well, you don't have anybody. You're alone, and you always will be. You think you're the queen? Well, news flash bitch, a queen must have followers." Now I smirk because I see hers fade off her face. She looks almost a little shocked.
Before I even know what is happening, she has slammed me down on the ground, holding me by my throat. "You better watch yourself, Arianna. I may like you but if you piss me off enough, I will kill you. Remember who is the stronger one here." she growls before disappearing.
I groan and sit up slowly, rubbing the back of my head. Ow, I was kind of asking for that one.
"Aria?" I hear someone ask and I turn around squinting in the dark.
"Depends on who's asking." I groan, my voice sounding kind of sluggish.
"Your boyfriend, who is a little worried about you right now." Damon says suddenly in front of me, helping me up. I lean against him, seeing some stars. Guess I hit my head harder than I thought. Damon frowns and reaches around touching the back of my head. It comes away wet with blood. "What happened?" he demands.
"I kind of pissed off Katherine..." I wince knowing it was idiotic to do.
"Seriously Aria? That is one girl you don't want to piss off." he murmurs, bitting into his wrist. He holds it up to my mouth but I shake my head.
"No, I don't want your blood. Can you just take me to your house, I just need some rest." I sigh, laying my head on his shoulder.
Damon looks at me conflicted, "You really should take some of my blood, you don't know how bad you hit your head."
"It's cute how much you're worrying but I'm fine. Please, let's just go." I smile. He looks at me for a second before picking me up bridal style. I laugh and snuggle up to him, loving how safe he makes me feel.
"Alright you won but I'm not going to take my eye off you, you could have a concussion." Damon points out starting to walk in the direction of his house.
I roll my eyes, "I don't have a concussion Damon."
"You could, so just let me be a little worried, alright?" Damon asks and it makes my heart melt. He's just too cute when he worries.
"Alright." I whisper and feel wind rush past me. Damon is using his damn vampire speed to get home. I close my eyes and think about what Katherine said. I'm not going to let it get to me, I'm not going to let her scare me that easily. I will not let her win.
If Katherine wants to play a game well, game on Katherine.
