Taehyung took a deep breath, his expression softening as he prepared to reveal the last piece of the truth.
"Jungkook," he said quietly, "I kidnapped you to save you from my brother. He's been planning to kill you for weeks now, and I knew if I didn't get you out of there, you wouldn't survive. It was the only way I could protect you."
Jungkook's heart pounded in his chest, the realization hitting him like a wave. He had spent days feeling betrayed, angry, and confused, only to find out that Taehyung had been trying to protect him all along. His head spun with the weight of it all.
"Save me?" Jungkook whispered, his voice raw with emotion. "You... kidnapped me to save me?"
Taehyung nodded, his eyes full of sincerity. "Yes. I had no other choice. My brother has eyes everywhere, and I couldn't risk him finding out that I was trying to help you. If he did, he would have killed us both."
As Taehyung stood there, the tension in the air thick, he could feel Jungkookâs eyes burning with questions. He knew he had to come clean about everything. Taking a step closer, he exhaled deeply, his gaze dropping for a moment before meeting Jungkook's eyes again.
"I know you're confused," Taehyung began, his voice low but steady. "About why I disappeared for a week, why I took you. It wasnât just about saving you. It was also about keeping my brother off my trail."
Jungkookâs brow furrowed. "What do you mean?"
"I had to make him believe I was on his side," Taehyung explained. "For the past week, Iâve been laying low, creating a diversion. I made it seem like I was distancing myself from you, so he wouldn't suspect I was planning anything. It was the only way I could distract him long enough to get you out."
Jungkook shook his head, still trying to piece it all together. "So... this was all part of your plan? To disappear, act like you didnât care, then kidnap me to keep me safe?"
Taehyung nodded. "Exactly. I needed him to believe I was still loyal to him. If he even got a hint that I was planning to help you, he wouldâve killed us both before I had a chance to act. That's why I stayed away. I had to play my role perfectly."
Jungkook's mind raced, the emotions swirling inside him. "But why didnât you tell me any of this?"
"If I told you, you'd be in more danger," Taehyung replied softly. "I needed to protect you without putting you at risk. My brother has ears everywhere. I couldnât trust anyone, not even myself sometimes."
Jungkook stared at him, his chest tight with the weight of everything Taehyung had just revealed. He had been living in fear, anger, and confusion, only to find out it had all been part of Taehyungâs desperate attempt to keep him alive.
"You risked everything," Jungkook whispered, his voice catching. "For me."
"I had to," Taehyung said simply. "I couldnât lose you."
Jungkook felt a strange mix of relief and guilt wash over him. He had been so angry with Taehyung, but now he realized that everything Taehyung had done was to protect him.
Just as Jungkook was about to respond, the atmosphere in the room shifted. The door creaked open, and a slow, mocking laugh echoed through the space.
Jungkook's blood ran cold as he turned to see none other than Kang Min-ho standing in the doorway, his eyes gleaming with malice.
"Well, well, well," Min-ho drawled, stepping into the room with a menacing grin. "Isn't this a touching scene? My little brother and the mighty Jeon Jungkook, all cozy together."
Taehyung stiffened, his body tensing as he instinctively moved closer to Jungkook, positioning himself between his brother and the man he was trying to protect.
"Min-ho," Taehyung said, his voice low and dangerous. "What are you doing here?"
Min-ho chuckled darkly, his gaze flicking between Taehyung and Jungkook with amusement. "Oh, come now, Taehyung. Did you really think I wouldn't find you? Did you really think you could betray me and get away with it?"
Jungkook's jaw clenched, his anger rising as he glared at Min-ho. "So this is your plan? You send your brother to spy on me, only for him to turn against you? You really thought you could manipulate us like this?"
Min-ho's smile widened, his eyes glinting with malice. "Oh, Jungkook, you don't get it, do you? This has always been part of the plan. Taehyung was never supposed to get close to you. But he did. And now, it seems, he's made things so much easier for me."
Taehyung's fists clenched at his sides. "You're insane, Min-ho."
Min-ho's laugh filled the room, a cold
and chilling sound. "Maybe. But I'm also the one holding all the cards. You see, little brother, you've made a fatal mistake. You think you can protect Jungkook from me? You think you can save him? You're wrong."
Jungkook's eyes narrowed, his mind racing as he tried to anticipate Min-ho's next move. But before he could say anything, Min-ho reached into his jacket and pulled out a gun, pointing it directly at Taehyung.
"Now." Min-ho said, his voice calm but deadly, "step aside, Taehyung. Or I'll kill you both."
Jungkook's heart thundered in his chest as the tension in the room escalated. He looked at Taehyung, whose face had gone pale, but there was no fear in his eyes-only determination.
"No," Taehyung said firmly, his voice unwavering. "You'll have to go through me first."
Min-ho's grin faltered for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure. "You always were the stubborn one, Taehyung. But fine. If that's how you want it..."
Before Min-ho could make his next move, the sound of gunshots rang out, but it wasn't from his gun. Jungkook acted in a split second, disarming a hidden weapon he had kept all along, firing it at Min-ho's hand. The gun in Min-ho's grip flew across the room, clattering to the floor.
Min-ho snarled in pain, clutching his hand as blood trickled down his wrist. His eyes were wide with rage, but before he could react further, Jungkook moved forward, his calm, deadly aura returning. The fearsome mafia boss was back.
"This ends now, Min-ho," Jungkook said in a low, threatening voice. "I'm done playing your games."
Min-ho glared at him, but there was a flicker of fear in his eyes now. He glanced between Jungkook and Taehyung. realizing that he was outmatched.
"You think you've won, Jungkook?" Min-ho spat, his voice trembling with anger. "This isn't over. Not by a long shot."
Jungkook didn't respond. He simply stared Min-ho down, his expression cold and unyielding.
Taehyung, still standing beside Jungkook, let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. For the first time in days, the weight of the situation began to lift, though the danger still lingered.
Min-ho backed away slowly, clutching his injured hand. "You'll regret this, Taehyung," he hissed. "Both of you will."
And with that, he turned and disappeared into the shadows, leaving Jungkook and Taehyung alone in the aftermath of the confrontation.
Jungkook's shoulders slumped as the tension left his body, his emotions overwhelming him once again. He turned to Taehyung, his voice soft but filled with relief.
"You saved me, Tae."
Taehyung shook his head, stepping closer to Jungkook. "No, Jungkook. We saved each other."
Taehyung wrapped his arms around Jungkook, pulling him into a tight hug. Jungkook stiffened at first, unused to the warmth and comfort Taehyung always seemed to bring into his world. It had been an exhausting day, emotions running high and the threat of betrayal still looming over them. But in that moment, as Taehyung held him close, Jungkook let himself breatheâif only for a second.
"Weâll figure this out," Taehyung whispered softly into Jungkookâs ear, his voice steady despite everything that had happened. "We always do."
Jungkook nodded, leaning into the embrace for a brief moment, feeling the comfort Taehyung offered without realizing how much he needed it. As Taehyung slowly pulled back, he placed a reassuring hand on Jungkook's shoulder, their eyes locking for a second longer than usual.
"Letâs go," Taehyung said, his voice now all business. "We need to come up with something before Min-ho strikes again."
Jungkook straightened up, wiping away the lingering tension from his face. "Youâre right. We need a perfect plan, something he wonât see coming."
They both left the dingy hideout where Taehyung had brought him, quickly making their way back to the safety of Jungkookâs mansion. It wasnât just about survival anymore. Min-ho had gone too far, and they both knew he wouldnât stop until one of them was dead.
Inside the sprawling mansion, the two of them sat in Jungkookâs office, the air heavy with unspoken tension. The room was filled with thick mahogany furniture, low lighting, and a wall of screens monitoring different parts of the cityâa silent reminder of the world Jungkook controlled.
Taehyung leaned against Jungkookâs desk, arms crossed, already thinking ahead. "Min-ho is unpredictable, but his ego is his weakness. Heâll try to make a statement. Heâs reckless, especially now that he knows weâre not playing by his rules anymore."
Jungkook nodded, pacing the room, his mind working through possible scenarios. "Heâll come at us hard, trying to make a scene. We need to outsmart him, make sure he walks right into a trap of his own making."
Taehyung smirked. "Thatâs exactly what weâll do. We know how he operates, and I know his moves better than anyone. If we lay the groundwork right, we can control the situation before he even realizes it."
Jungkook stopped pacing and faced Taehyung, his eyes full of determination. "What do you suggest?"
Taehyungâs gaze sharpened. "We let him think heâs winning. We create a false lead, something that looks like youâre on the defensive. Heâll get overconfident, and thatâs when we strike."
Jungkook considered the plan, nodding slowly. "We can leak false intel through his contacts. Make it seem like Iâm weakened after his attack. Heâll think he has an opening."
Taehyungâs lips curled into a sly smile. "Exactly. And when he walks into that opening, weâll be waiting for him."
Jungkook felt a flicker of hope. The betrayal still stung, but Taehyung's loyalty and brilliance were undeniable. Together, they could outmaneuver Min-ho.
As they worked through the finer details of their plan, the bond between them felt stronger than ever. Every move, every decision, was calculated with precision, the trust between them building with each step. They had been through too much to lose now, and neither of them was willing to let Min-ho win.
After hours of plotting, Taehyung leaned back in his chair, stretching his arms above his head. "Weâve got it," he said, a satisfied smile on his face. "This plan... itâs going to be a masterpiece."
Jungkook couldnât help but smile back, feeling a strange sense of pride in their teamwork. "Yeah. Itâs perfect."
But underneath that shared victory, Jungkookâs heart still ached. He still hadnât told Taehyung how he felt. Now, more than ever, the fear of losing him felt suffocating. But for now, they had bigger problems to deal with.
"Get some rest," Taehyung said, standing up and heading toward the door. "Weâre going to need all the energy we can get for whatâs coming."
Jungkook watched him leave, his chest tightening with unspoken words. He wanted to stop him, to ask him to stay, but the words wouldnât come. Instead, he nodded, silently cursing his own shyness.
As the door closed, Jungkook leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling. His mind raced with thoughts of their plan, but his heart was consumed by the man who had just left the room. He knew he couldnât keep this up forever.
But for now, revenge came first.

Jungkook lay on his bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep as the events of the past week played over and over in his mind. The reveal that Taehyung was his rivalâs brother had shaken him to his core. For a brief, terrifying moment, he had thought he had lost Taehyung foreverâlost his first love to the enemy. But when Taehyung revealed he was trying to protect him, the relief Jungkook felt was overwhelming. Taehyung had stayed, and that was all that mattered.
But it had been a week since Taehyung had been around him like before. Sure, they had planned together and worked out their strategy, but it wasnât the same. Taehyung had been distant, keeping busy with other members of the organization, and Jungkook could feel the aching void growing inside him. He sighed deeply, rolling onto his side as he replayed the moment Taehyung hugged him tightly, the warmth of his touch still lingering in his mind. He missed him. He wanted to see Taehyung, to be close to him, to feel that connection again.
Unable to take the restless feeling anymore, Jungkook got out of bed and quietly padded down the hallway, deciding to get some fresh air in the living room. As he stepped into the room, his heart sank.
There, on the couch, was Taehyung, laughing softly with his head leaning on Jinâs shoulder. Jin, his older brother, was talking animatedly, and Taehyung seemed completely absorbed in whatever he was saying, a bright smile lighting up his face.
Jungkook froze in the doorway, his stomach twisting with jealousy. He watched them from the shadows, feeling small and forgotten. His pout deepened as he noticed how comfortable and close they seemed. Taehyungâs laughter, which usually made his heart flutter, now felt like a painful reminder of the distance between them.
He wanted to be the one making Taehyung laugh like that. He wanted to be the one Taehyung leaned onânot Jin, not anyone else.
Jungkook's mind raced with insecurity. Does Taehyung like Jin more? Is that why he's been so distant? He bit his lip, feeling tears sting his eyes as his emotions spiraled. He felt ridiculous, like a child wanting attention, but he couldnât help it. Taehyung had become everything to him, and seeing him so happy with someone else, even his brother, made him feel like he was losing him all over again.
He turned quickly, heading back to his room before they could notice him standing there. His chest felt heavy, his throat tight with unshed tears. He slumped against his door, his back sliding down until he was sitting on the floor, knees pulled up to his chest.
Why canât I just tell him how I feel? he thought, resting his head on his knees. He knew why. His shyness, his fear of rejection, his insecuritiesâthey all held him back. The thought of losing Taehyung because of his feelings terrified him.
But watching Taehyung with Jin like that, seeing him so close to someone else, made it hurt even more to stay silent.
For now, though, all Jungkook could do was sit there, alone with his thoughts, hoping that Taehyung would come find him.
But deep down, he feared that maybeâjust maybeâTaehyung didnât need him as much as he needed Taehyung.
