(Look ignore the fact that the last chapter ended in the living room, no it didn't .__.)
Colby paused. Before Sam could speak again the car was jerked off (jerked off!!!)the road with a rushed skerrttttt, sending both of the boys abruptly forward. Colby put the car in park and unbuckled his seatbelt, pausing for air, resting his head on the wheel.
"So you seem... to wanna talk about it." Sam paused, exhaling softly.
"Mhm." Colby hummed in a high pitch tone.
Sam nodded, awkwardly looking out the window. He tried to focus on the cars passing by, memorizing the colors or license plates as if that would make Colby disappear and he could take back his question.
"What about it?" The brunette whispered out under his breath.
Sam's heart sped up. "Well... just... why, or I dunno... sorry I didn't expect to actually have this conversation."
Colby nodded, lightly tapping his fingers repeatedly over the steering wheel, continuously inhaling, near the point of hyperventilation. But he finally exhaled looking up slightly.
"I wanted too." He swallowed, his mouth feeling as though he had just coughed up a mouthful of sand. He wanted to choke it all down at this point.
Sam didn't expect that answer, he didn't expect any answer from him. So of course he didn't have a response to Colby's admission. He wanted to kiss him, make him understand how he felt. He wanted to show him how much he loved him, at least how much he cared about him. But he didn't know how to, and he didn't want to jump the gum and end up rejected. (Boy stfu)
"I liked it... fuck that sounds weird," Sam mumbled quietly. He shook his head out of shame and embarrassment.
"What did you say?" Colby asked, in a tone that have undertones of a smirk but a questioning tone that was undeniable.
Sam sighed, "Don't make me say it again, it was stupid." He looked slightly up to Colby whose head was once again on the wheel, a small smile playing at his lips. "Bitch." Sam scoffed, making Colby turn his head abruptly.
"Excuse me! Who you out here calling' a bitch!" He scowled, half jokingly. Sam rolled his eyes, smiling again.
"I said I liked it!" He spoke. "I fucking loved it!" He shouted, "YOU HEAR THAT WORLD, I FUCKING LOVE THAT KISS!"
Colby placed his hand over Sam's mouth his eyes big and the smirk a bit smaller than seconds earlier, before it turned into an endearing grin.
"Wow, I made you say it again." Colby laughed, expressing his love for the control he had over Sam.
"Oh fuck you, I will." Sam scoffed, knowing that would twist Colby's mind. Colby looked up at him, a fearful shocked expression on his face, but eyes that squinted and rolled in a knowing way.
"I see what you're doing Golbach, it isn't going to work." Colby smirked.
"We'll see." Sam returned, winking.
The two settled down, before realizing they hadn't actually addressed the elephant in the room. (Can we name the elephant Fred?) Their feelings for each other.
Maybe they had just addressed it, addressed it without addressing it. But they knew that if they all weren't on the same page, their relationship, whatever it was, wouldn't progress. They'd just stay in this awkward best friends-not friends-kinda lovers situation. They'd both knew they'd regret that in the future.
"Hey Sam." Colby spoke, filling the silence. Sam looked up, his normally pale face flushed with pink. He felt uncertain about the way this would go.
'I meant it, I really did." He smiled sheepishly, not daring to look the blonde in the eye. It was weird. The entire scene felt like it was out of some movie, a rom-com, maybe a teen drama, where the guy finally confesses to the girl after messing with other girls the entire movie.
Sam didn't know what to do. He didn't truly understand what he was feeling for Colby until two months ago and now he was forced to grapple with that and the fact that Colby reciprocated the feelings towards him. It was a lot for him to handle in one moment.
"Oh."
While obviously not the best way to respond, it was something right. He got words out. Well a word.
Colby rolled his eyes and set his head on the steering wheel. Imagine how he felt, in the movie he was just that guy who liked the girl, but never thought she would like him; so he ignored her. Likely an idiot move, but not an inaccurate statement.
He truly didn't know what 'Oh.' meant.
"Oh?" He asked, his eyes looking up at Sam with sadness but confusion.
"Not like bad 'oh'! Like... good 'oh'!" Sam hurriedly explained, realizing how that must have sounded for someone on the others side of the conversation.
"Is there really such a thing as a good 'oh'?" Colby laughed, trying to lighten the mood, but just resulting in more awkwardness between the best friends. "What does good 'oh' mean? Just asking for a friend."
This time Sam laughed, "Oh yeah? For a friend? What cause you are 'all knowing'?"
"Well obviously, I just need your intake so I can correct your mistakes, dumbass!" Colby giggled back, smiling at him softly, it was an intense state, not lustful or aggressive, just harsh endearment.
The shorter sighed, "It means, that I feel you. And I feel the same way. If that's correct, all knowing god."
"Hmm, it might be correct."
Sam smiled, "Wow, the love is real. I can't believe I didn't embarrass myself."
"I said 'might'!" Colby warned with a laugh on his lips. He wished it could be like this forever, but he also wanted so much more. He wanted to be able to love Sam, not worries about what Sam felt towards him. No worries of what others could think. But it was such a hard decision to make. It could change the course of there lives. And scarily Colby would gladly let it.
He would let it fuck up his life if it meant he could be with Sam, if it meant his old high school crush, turned best friend, turned partner in life, turned situation-ship, would love him back. And maybe Sam truly did.
"Colby, I love you." Sam let out, a weight lifting from his cheats, before being replaced by the weight of his words. "I mean, I only really figured that out a few months ago, I've been struggling to understand."
Colby nodded, encouraging Sam to continue. So he did, "I mean I really liked the kiss, it was just too much at one time. I really liked you and I couldn't truly fathom my feelings, or yours. And the whole Gabi thing too. It just felt wrong."
Colby smiled sadly, waiting for Sam to let him down easy or at least finish his thought. "But my gosh was it the best kiss, and it was everything I needed. I'm willing to try anything with you. If that's correct means possibly fucking up our job, our friendship, maybe..."
The brunette was on the edge of his seat, waiting for the next words.
"Maybe I'm ready for that." Sam finished, swallowing the built up lump in his throat. Coughing slightly to relive his vocal cords from the stress of talking.
Colby didn't know what else to say, so he didn't speak. He reached dforward and pulled Sam closer. He was just inches away from the other lips. But he promised himself not to do anything unless Sam initiated it. He didn't want to take that power from him, not again.
It wasn't long before Dam gave in and they kissed, for the third time.
It was much better than the other times. The times when it was forced on Sam, when Colby moved with his heart and not his head. He felt everything, the love, the length of time they spent ignoring their ever growing feelings. He felt the weight of the world lift off of his shoulders. He felt all the butterflies flighting up his spinal cord, into his lungs, around his heart, and up his throat before descending down into ever lasting sublime.
(Jeez that was a lot)
It was everything the two had ever dreamed of and more. It was their teenage love and their long lasting friendship, and their failed relationships. It was pure love. It was also only about five seconds. All that, over in a blink.
The two parted, faces flushed, hearts pounding in synchrony, soft gasps escaping their lips that were just entwined.
"I need to see your lips again please, to inspect them with my own. I have to know for sure about them." Sam stumbled, and soft smile on his lips.
"Right right, for sure."
So they kissed, the fourth time in their lives, the second meaningful one, the first truly perfect kiss. It was just how they need it to be, just how it was meant too be.
Nothing crazy happened that night, they mad it home in one piece, with blushing faces and little to no conversation. They sat down together that night and talked about their relationship, their family and their content and fans.
They knew their families would be fine about it, they'd survive the gay-ification of their sons. The knew if they were to get together they'd have to tell their fans, it wasn't something they;d be able to keep forever, not matter how hard the tried.
So they decided. They were going to try out a relationship, the cuddles, the kisses, the lovey-dovey stuff. They would be themselves and love each other all they wanted, and if it went well after a few months they would talk about it and then most likely tell their family and fans.
It was a plan that they deemed flawless.
So that night the went to bed, cuddle together, their first night as boyfriends.
