Chapter 18: Hell Week

Just a Ship - SolbyWords: 10084

I know the name of this chapter doesn't really work with the rest, but I don't care. So I have kinda lost motivation and took a break, but my fingers are pretty much healed so that's something. Anyways, since they filmed hell week in July, and in the book they are in like April-may, I thought I'd just do hell week.

Anyways, hope you like this, it's gonna be long, also Hell week was crazy, the fear in both Sam and Colby in the last video scared me.

This will be angst but we're finishing up the story so we'll get to the fluff <3

Also this won't be all of Hell Week as I encourage you to go watch it on your own. (ALSO IVE BEEN WATCHING ARCANE, AHHHH KILL ME NOW AHHHHH) sorry-

Enjoyyyyy

Colby had been ignoring him, at least that's what Sam thought. Colby was always with Gabi, at her house, hanging with her, on call with her. He wasn't often home, and when he was he was avoiding Sam at all costs.

Maybe it was Sam's fault for not reaching out, but after nearly two months he gave up attempting to try and talk to Colby. But they had to film hell week, they planed to fly out to the school they had purchased and visited before they had started ignoring each other.

Today they had a flight at three pm to go to the haunted elementary school they had bought. Sam was not excited, but they couldn't cancel on Josh who they were filming with the next day. So Sam picked himself up off of his bed and trudged his way over to Colby's room, praying her was home that day.

"Colby!" Sam called, not wanting to barge in on a make out session, or worse.

"What?" He heard a deep voice coming from his friend's room. He took that as a 'welcome in', not caring about his friend's obvious annoyance.

Colby's room was a mess, well it normally was, but a contained mess, this time not so much. There were soda cans and leftover containers everywhere, clothes that had probably been there forever and he looked like he had come out of a hurricane.

"What the hell Sam!" Colby scoffed, hiding into the safety of his bed covers.

"Dude," Sam looked up solemnly, getting increasingly concerned for the dark haired friend in front of him. "You good? You look like you haven't slept in days!"

"I'm fine, what do you want!" Colby replied bitterly, making Sam flinch slightly, before frowning and continuing.

"We kind of have to film Hell (I'm going there- get it... cause I'm gay-) Week with Josh tomorrow and our flight is in a few hours." Sam rushed out, knowing Colby was about to blow up.

"Shit, shit, shit, I need to pack, get out!" Colby rushed Sam out, grabbing random clothes on his way.

Sam just let him do such, knowing that if he intervened it would just cause more trouble. He instead walked outside of his 'best-friend's' bedroom, grabbing his luggage on his way downstairs.

He would have eaten, 2 months prior at least, but he never really had an appetite anymore, just grabbing a coffee for him and Colby. Always remembering how his brunette liked it. He also grabbed so leftovers from the fridge and shoved some cash in his pocket; for when he didn't want to look for his wallet at the airport.

Colby came hustling down the stairs, still looking disheveled, but in clean clothes and with his hair a little bit less psych-patient-esque. "C'mon Sam! We're going to be late!"

Sam just shook his head, not caring to fight with the tired man-child right then. He grabbed his luggage again and carefully held both drinks and the leftovers in the other hand. It was a struggle.

~sexy time skip~

They had finally landed, and both Sam and Colby were just completely overjoyed. (Sarcasm, can you tell?) They felt gross and could barely exchange bitter words anymore. Sam being more level headed, he led them to the uber he had ordered; and they made their way to a little town in the middle of nowhere where, New York state.

Their producer had already arrived the day before to set up things, so they weren't completely alone. But they were exhausted, having to put on their filming persona's as if not to worry anyone. They decided to film a bit that night, but they would finish up most of it the next morning, they didn't have the energy to do much more.

"What's up guys! It's Sam and Colby!" Colby exclaimed, earning a small grin from the joy-deprived Sam.

'AND WELCOME TO HELL WEEK!"

Who knew filming a bit of content could make the two so happy.

After filming quite a bit they prepared their cots, sharing some lighthearted laughs and jokes that they had so very much missed. They struggled to admit that as they slipped into their make-shift beds. But as they basked in the science, just enjoying each other's presence, Sam spoke up.

"I missed you."

For a few moments he got no response, having presumed Colby was already asleep by his soft breathing. But then he heard the slight hiss of a breath being caught.

"Me too."

The next day was, it was eventful. They met up with Josh in the morning, bickered with each other a LOT. Having to be broken up by their producer once. (I'm ngl I completely forgot his name, sorry I'm to lazy to check so he's just 'producer' rn)

But they survived, and continued their investigation, Colby exploring the graveyard, while Sam and Josh explored the school itself. Sam ended ip getting so worried about Colby, he trudged his way out to the graves just to make sure he was okay.

Colby chalked it up to Sam just being scared, but it made him feel happy. More than he would like to admit.

And then, before they knew it, it was the end of that day's investigation, and the said their goodbyes to Josh, who gladly wen back to his hotel.

So there they were sitting in the 'safe-room', in silence.

"I feel like we should talk." Sam spoke up, his voice dry and thick, but also quite soft in the silent room.

"'Bout what?" His counterpart asked, not looking up from his hands, where they rested on his knees. Sam didn't answer right away, he instead reached forward and lightly brushed his hand to Colby's. Colby still didn't look fully up, but he briefly met Sam's pleading eyes.

"What's going on. What happed between us." Sam asked, hesitating before asking what he really wanted to know, "What did I do wrong?"

This shocked Colby, he never really realized that Sam probably thought that he had done something wrong. Which to more Colby thought about it, Sam had done absolutely nothing wrong.

"I-... you didn't do anything Sam." Colby spoke, resting his other hand on top of Sam's, looking up slightly.

This caught Sam off guard, first he experienced shock, then it all came crashing down. "So you're saying that for two months you ignored me and favored your girlfriend, avoiding me, and yelling at me. For NO REASON?"

Colby was shocked at Sam's reaction, not that it wasn't a fair reaction, just it wasn't a Sam type of reaction. But Sam didn't stop. (Blonde boy has stared yapping - smh)

"What the actual fuck Colby. I tried! I really fucking tried to reach out, but you shut me out. You practically live with Gabi now! I thought I had done something wrong for so long! Why the hell would you do that!"

Sam continued to yell for quite a bit, before Colby got so fed up. "I'M SORRY! I'm so fucking sorry. I missed you so god damn much. I left you cause I needed you. My feelings were too much, I thought avoiding you would help, but it obviously just made me feel worse!"

Well, he didn't mean to say all that.

"What-..." Sam was still processing every little word that came out of Colby's mouth. Which was hard, because Colby had just said a lot of words.

"What do you mean. I mean-... what feelings-?" Sam asked, looking at his feet sheepishly.

"Oh you fucking idiot." Colby scoffed, lifting up Sam's chin till their eyes met. A pleading, begging look played at the blonde's face, this was enough for Colby.

Their first kiss, since well high school.

It was too much, but not enough. Fresh as can be. Claiming and sweet. Like drinking ice water on a hot day. It was everything I needed to be.

Colby pressed his lips lightly against the shorter, shocking Sam, but he leaned into it. There was a short comfort in it at they hadn't felt for a long time. They both felt at peace. Complete serenity, sublime.

But it ended all to fast, only a fraction of a second, a whiplash of time, and everything shattered. Sam had pushed away. (Idiot 😒) He didn't even speak his facial expressions were enough.

It was a mix of fear and disgust, but if you looked hard enough a longing, a sense of need. But alll Colby saw was the first. Sam wiped his lips, walking out of the room to take a breather. And Colby collapsed on his cot, accepting his defeat.

He rolled over making sure he was facing away from Sam's bed, praying that he could just disintegrate into thin air forevermore. Not wanting to face the next morning.

~

Colby's worst nightmare happened the next day.

Absolutely nothing.

No mention of what had happened, Sam was acting like he had previously before the fight, neither of them brought it up, or planed on bringing it up. And that is how that stayed.

They filmed with the triplets and Kris and Celina, and they pretended. Through every gay joke, every 'solby' moment, every conversation, they braced themselves for something to be brought up, that never was.

And so it stayed like that.

Ik ik that was on the shorter side, but I just wanted to get something out! Sorry I've been so busy, everything has been a roller coaster in my life recently. If you care, I got diagnosed with long covid and have been in and out of the hospital. Finally got semi-over that, but I still have many draining symptoms. My mental health sucked. But I'm Bette now and I plan on posting more frequently.
