"Elijah, Veronica, David, and Courtney, you guys will work in kitchen one for the semester. As you all know, today we are making basic chocolate chip cookies and you must work together to get the task completed before the end of class," Mrs. Winston said.

I sighed dramatically as I stood up to go over to the first kitchen with my group trailing behind me. We faced each other, standing in a circle in the middle of the small kitchen. David wore a shirt with cut off sleeves, displaying muscular arms with a tattoo taking up one of his forearms. His hair was short and his eyes were a plain brown. Courtney, on the other hand, had bright, orange curly hair and freckles with glasses that made her green eyes look huge.

I clasped my hands together and said, "Alright. Let's do this."

No one else looked as enthusiastic as me. Don't get me wrong, I was in no way excited about this either, but really? They could at least fake it for a little while.

The four of us stared at the recipe for a few minutes before we started gathering the equipment and ingredients. We called Mrs. Winston over when we had everything laid out and ready to go.

"Who's going to be the two cooks and who's going to be the two dishwashers?" She asked.

We looked back and forth at each other until David and Courtney raised their hands.

"Dishwasher," they said at the same time. I shot a look at Elijah who couldn't be more thrilled to work with me.

Not.

He glared at me as Mrs. Winston dismissed us to begin making the cookies. I went over to the counter and started combining the first ingredients on the list, ignoring Elijah.

As I was beating the egg in a bowl, Elijah shouldered his way into my work area. I stumbled a bit and had to scramble to catch the egg that I almost dropped.

"What's your problem?" I hissed at Elijah.

He stepped into my personal bubble and trapped me against the counter with his arms. He lifted a hand to my face and said, "You have something right here..."

I froze with the bowl containing the beaten egg in between us. Elijah swiped his finger down my cheek and stepped back with a huge smirk on his face.

"Elijah!" I yelled, dropping the bowl on the counter while I tore off a piece of paper towel. I furiously scrubbed my cheek to take off the butter Elijah had smeared across my face. "I'm gonna get pimples now!"

"Kinda late for that. You already have-"

Before either of us saw it coming, the entire bowl of flour was sailing right for Elijah from my outstretched arms. His green eyes widened as the bowl slammed into his chest, flour billowing out all around him. Courtney gasped and David looked bored as they were boiling the dishwater.

Elijah ran his hands through his hair and shook his head. He was absolutely furious as he tried to get the flour off of his black t-shirt by smacking it off with a dry paper towel. It didn't do much to remove any of the flour.

You may be wondering what I was doing this entire time, watching him suffer as flour went in his eyes, hair, clothes, and just about everywhere else. So what was I doing, you ask?

Well, I stood there with my hands on my knees, laughing hysterically as I completely forgot about the butter still on my face. I clutched my stomach, feeling the abs coming in.

"Is there something funny, Ronnie?" Elijah growled as he stared icily at me. I shut my mouth, locking my lips together. My cheeks started to puff out as I kept staring at him with the flour covering every inch of his body.

I couldn't help it, I exploded in fits of giggles again, pointing at Elijah as he grew more and more angry. But what can I say? I never knew when to stop and apparently I had taken it too far.

"Guess who's not going to the concert anymore tonight?" He asked, narrowing his eyes on me.

I stopped laughing to frown at him, pretending to be disappointed. "Aw, I made poor Eli sad so now he's not going to the concert anymore. Boo-hoo."

"Oh, I'm going to the concert."

"But-"

"You're not," he said just as Mrs. Winston came over.

"What happened here?" She demanded as I just gawked at Elijah. He couldn't possibly mean he was taking my ticket back. He couldn't do that! Right?

"Oh, sorry, Miss. I accidentally bumped into the flour bowl when I wasn't looking," Elijah apologized. What the hell? Did he just cover up for me?

She turned to me, raising her eyebrows. "What about you?" She asked, gesturing at the butter on my face.

"Oh, um, well I forgot there was butter on my finger when I went to itch my nose," I lied, right on the spot. I guessed since Elijah had covered up for me, the only thing I could do was do the same for him.

Mrs. Winston looked back and forth at us, suspiciously. Then she turned to our other group members. "Is that what really happened?" She questioned them.

I held my breath. This was it. We were going to get caught and have to go to detention and then neither of us would make it to the concert.

David just shrugged and poured the boiling hot water into a bin in the sink. Courtney darted her eyes all around as she nodded a bunch of times. I breathed a sigh of relief when Mrs. Winston said, "Okay...just make sure you get the cookies in the oven soon because class is almost over." Then she walked away.

"You owe me," Elijah said when she was out of ear shot.

"No way! It's your fault we got in this situation in the first place!" I yelled.

"Then I guess you wouldn't mind if I took your ticket back."

"Hell yes, I'd mind-"

Elijah leaned forward until his lips rested just above my ear. "Then tell Mae that it's over between the two of us." He took a step back, gauging my reaction.

"What!"

"I wanted to see if something would happen when I was dating her. You were right to question me about my motives in the beginning. But now, I realized that I couldn't make you..." He abruptly cut off.

"Make me what?" I shouted, exasperated.

"Forget it. Bottom line is that I never felt anything for Mae. She was just a simple girl and that's about it. Now you can keep your ticket if you tell her I'm breaking things off between us."

I held up my hands. "No way. You have to do that." I jabbed a finger at him. "And you're such an asshole. You used Mae for some sick reason that you won't tell me and now you want me to tell her that you're breaking up with her. You know what? You don't deserve Mae anyway. I'm glad you guys aren't together anymore."

"Why? So you can have me all to yourself?"

I gaped at him. Did he honestly just say that? Please tell me he didn't because I was about two seconds away from throwing a punch. Or two.

"Elijah," I warned, "Take that back right now."

He made up for the step he had taken back just a few minutes ago. He walked right up to me, stopping just inches from my face.

"What if I told you that I did it to make you jealous?"

I sucked in a breath. That was so not what I had been expecting him to say.

"W-What..."

The bell rang and we hadn't even gotten our cookies in the oven. I stared after Elijah's retreating back as he left the classroom. I stayed behind with Courtney to finish the cookies and showed up late for lunch. I couldn't concentrate on anything for the rest of the day besides what Elijah had said to me.

*********

When I got home, I guarded the ticket with my life. I was not going to let Elijah take it from me no matter what he had said during school. I also didn't forget about the fact that he wanted me to tell Mae that he was breaking up with her and the only reason he had dated her in the first place was to make me jealous.

He was completely wack if you asked me. How could I be jealous of him when I had Uriah...?

Anyway, I was watching TV on the couch with the ticket in my hand when my parents walked in the door.

"Honey?" My mom called from the entranceway. I paused Supernatural as I answered, "Yes, Mom?"

She walked hand in hand with my father into the living room where I was sprawled across one of the couches. She frowned an apologetic look as she said, "I know you were supposed to go to that concert tonight, but..."

"Uh oh. But what?"

"I have a meeting at the town hall tonight and your father has the night shift for work. We're going to have to use both of the cars, including yours. Is there any way Elijah can take you since you won the tickets together?" She prompted with a hopeful look on her face.

I groaned. "Ugh, but Moooom," I whined, "Then that means I'll have to stay by him the entire time so he can drive me back home as well."

My parents nodded. "That's actually a good idea. I'll be content to know someone's looking out for you."

If it meant I could go see Pierce the Veil in concert, then I'd just have to suck it up and ask Elijah for a ride. When my parents left the house for the night with the cars, I dashed upstairs to find some clothes I could wear.

I found a tight, black tank top that hugged my body in all the right places along with a pair of skinny jeans that could have been considered leggings. I threw on a pair of boots and applied some makeup and I was good to go after I curled my blonde hair. I looked in the mirror and thought that I didn't look that bad. I looked decent, I guess you could say.

When I had called Elijah for a ride, his answer had just been a simple, "Whatever." So when his car horn beeped from outside, I sprinted outside because I knew he'd leave me behind if I was late. I hopped in his car, buckled my seat belt, and felt his eyes on me so I looked up.

His eyes darkened as they roamed down the length of my body. I squirmed under his intense stare at my chest. "Hey! My eyes are up here, dumbass!" I yelled, crossing my arms over my chest.

His heated gaze lazily met mine. "You look-"

"Sexy, I know. So let's get this show on the road, shall we?" I interrupted him. I honestly did not want to hear what he had to say. He was just going to make fun of me like he always did and I wasn't in the mood.

This was going to be the best night of my life and nothing could get in the way.

"Ugh, I can't see," I complained, trying to stand on my tippy toes. I glanced over at Elijah who stood a good head taller than the crowd. He had no problem seeing over everyone as Pierce the Veil belted out their music and rocked out on stage.

A pair of hands swooped underneath my armpits and lifted me off the ground. I squirmed as I was dropped on someone's shoulders. I looked down to see a head of thick, black hair as I held on for dear life.

"Shit, you're heavier than you look," Elijah grunted, locking his arms around my thighs. I smacked his head, messing up his hair. "Jerk," I spat.

Then I became completely conscious of his hands gripping my thighs. I felt my face burn a thousand shades of red as he held me up. From this height, I could see everything. I forgot about being embarrassed as I sat on Elijah's shoulders and started singing along to the music. I had the biggest smile on my face as I bobbed my head up and down, fist bumping along with the rest of the crowd.

I glanced down to see Elijah already looking at me. I had expected to either see a smirk in his face or a cold glare. What I hadn't expected was the small smile that he was giving me.

All at once, his smile fled and his usual glare replaced it as he turned his attention back to the stage.

I pulled his hair. He moved his hand to swat me away, but I grabbed his wrist.

"Hey, what do you have against me?" I asked, squeezing his wrist.

He continued to glare at me as he growled, "Nothing."

"Oh, bullshit-"

Elijah silenced me by sliding his wrist out of my grasp and instead pressed his hand to the back of my neck. My eyes widened as he twisted his neck and crushed his lips against mine, holding my head in place so I couldn't move.

"I thought," he murmured against my lips, "I told you I was going to take all your first times. And from what I'm hearing from my brother, he asked you to be his girlfriend, did he not?"

I broke away and shoved his head away from me. "Are you serious!" I yelled, incredulously.

"From now on, you're my girlfriend. Uriah doesn't have to know and neither does Mae. I'll continue dating her so it isn't suspicious. However, we will make it public when I make you fall in love with me, Ronnie," he said.

I stared at him in shock. I couldn't process what he was saying. "There's no way I'd ever love you. And how could I know what love is if I've never loved anyone in that way before?" I finally spit out.

"Exactly. I'll be your first love."
