Damn. Almost 275,000 words.
Iâve never written and finished anything that long.
Actually this is the first long story I can say Iâve ever finished. Feels good.
All that being said, I made a lot of mistakes.
Iâm very glad you all enjoyed this story, but I can do a lot better.
I learned a lot just by writing and posting here on RR and Patreon. About the craft of long form storytelling, and the business of it. Iâve met a bunch of cool authors who have offered their expertise.
Most importantly. I met you guys.
Your comments on every chapter kept me going strong. Even the critical ones. Seeing engagement on my work was and is an awesome feeling, I think Iâm hooked on it.
Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit.
One thing is for certain. This is what Iâm doing now. Telling stories is the coolest job Iâll ever get to do, so Iâm stickin with it.
Unfortunately that means I have to go dark for a little while. One lesson I learned the hard way about writing for RoyalRoad and Patreon is that one should be over-prepared.
Dear readers, when I dropped this story in mid October I was barely prepared.
I feel like I stumbled across the finish line on this one.
But I did make it to the top three on RS (All).
The numbers are real good all around, especially for a rookie. Especially for a first story.
So the next oneâs gonna be even better right? Right!
Expect it in mid to late April. Beginning of May at the latest.
The tone and subject matter will probably have some similarities with Lord of Hunger. The System stuff will be a lot more structurally sound. There might be a bit of worldbuilding overlap.
One thing I can promise about it is that I will be WAAAY more prepared for a release in every single way.
At some point I will stub Lord of Hunger and put it on Amazon, but not immediately.
I might even give it a thorough edit if I have time.
Or think about sequels, if yâall want them.
Anything is doable. All I know for sure right now is that I like writing for you guys and Iâm gonna keep doing it.
So thanks for dropping in. Itâs been a pleasure to meet you. Iâll see yâall soon with the next one. :)
