Chapter 58: Epilogue

Forever Raine ✔️Words: 31881

As he looked into the future, a boy so young, the only thing he thought would ever matter was the brand of his shoes or the price of the watch that would rest on his wrist or even the value of his bank account. But little did he know, that the only thing that would ever matter to him was the girl that lay between his arms, her hair spread out across his chest and her heart pressed against his own.

Raine was where his days began and where his nights ended. She was the smile that was always painted on his lips and she was the sparkle the appeared in his eyes. She was the thought that always consumed his mind and she was the beating heart the resided in his chest.

She was everything.

Her arms were wrapped around his body and her body moved softly with each breath she took, sleeping completely cluelessly while the morning sun slowly peaked above the horizon and shined light across the city.

Although he didn't want to, Xavier carefully unraveled her arms, making sure that he didn't awaken her in the process, and lifting her body off of his own, settled her on the bed. She snuggled into the pillow, hugging it as if she was hugging him, causing Xavier to smile.

Shaking his head, he pulled the blankets around her, pressing a kiss to her forehead before slipping out of the room.

Today was the day and there was a lot that needed to be done.

It was the first time he would be celebrating anyone's birthday in years, and it was the most important one he'd ever celebrate.

Raine's birthday.

He had been prepping for the day for weeks now, making sure that it would be perfect for her. She deserved nothing less because she was perfection herself.

* * *

Petals of red roses were showered on Raine as soon as her eyes opened for the first time that morning.

Her lips tingling, knowing well that Xavier has savored them only a few moments before she had awoken. A bright smile was plastered on her face at the sight of red petals and the rosy fragrance that surrounded her.

Wrapping the sheets around her body, Raine got up looking around for Xavier whose ocean blue eyes were nowhere in sight. But despite that, she knew he was near because of the warm spice scent of his body wash in the air, that she had fallen in love with.

A blush covered her cheeks and a soft frown itched her forehead at the sight of the candlelit path that trailed from the tip of the bed and led out of the bedroom, adorned with rose petals sprinkled on the ground.

Shaking her head at Xavier's romantic ways, she bunched the sheet around her body and followed the roses down the hall, her eyes eagerly waiting to meet Xavier's ocean blue ones.

And just as she walked towards the top of the grand staircase, her eyes fell upon them. The eyes that searched for her at every moment in the day. The eyes in which she saw herself, her future, her life.

He stood there, waiting in a crisp black suit, a white dress shirt, and a blue tie. The same outfit that he had been wearing the first time they had met. When Raine had slipped into his arms and he had caught her, along with his own breath. When he had realized that life could be more than just surviving. When she realized that maybe happiness was just around the corner.

When they realized that magic was real. Magic was real because, at that moment, both of them felt it. The magical tingle that united their souls together in that one meeting. At that moment, they have been bound together in a bond no one would understand but them.

Raine didn't even know how or when but her feet carried her to her destination, that would always be Xavier's arms. They stood in front of each other, a comfortable silence surrounding them until one made the move.

Raine smiled up at him, thinking to herself how on earth did she had gotten so lucky before Xavier broke the spell and engulfed her into a hug.

"Happy birthday Little Rose." He said, pressing his lips on the top of her head and savoring the warmth that she brought to him.

"Thank you," She whispered, giggling softly before looking around the foyer that was decorated with candles and flowers, not to mention the hundreds of balloons that covered the high ceilings. "This is so pretty!"

"It's just begun Baby," Xavier grinned, pulling her out of his chest and cupping her face. "The day is still quite young."

Raine shook her head and smiled, pulling the sheets closer to her body, only for Xavier to tug on them.

"Xavier!" She whined, pulling them closer to her body. "Stop it!"

"You're all mine though." Xavier pouted.

"Nope! Not right now." She glared playfully.

"Ok, fine." Xavier rolled his eyes jokingly. "Go get ready, I've already spared you the task of finding something to wear." He added with a wink causing Raine to blush.

* * *

The cool summer breeze was the perfect way to lose the slumber that was once in her eyes. Sleeping was what people did when they wished to run away from the real world and dream. But what use was sleep now that her life was nothing less than a dream.

Xavier was her midnight moon, his touch the stars in her sky.

True to his word, Xavier had spared Raine the difficult task of finding something to wear.

When she came out of the shower, a gorgeous pastel blue dress was waiting for her on the bed.

It was a lace dress whose color matched that of his tie. Fitting well at to top, the dress flowed freely from the waist all the way down below her knees, perfect for the spring weather.

She paired the dress with simple strappy sandals and natural makeup before making her way down to meet Xavier who had been busy preparing his breakfast surprise.

"You look stunning." He complimented, as soon as his eyes fell on the angel that walked into the room.

His angel.

"Please, you're a walking Greek God yourself." Raine playful hit his shoulders to which he chuckled.

"Shall we start with some breakfast at the gazebo?" Xavier grinned, looking down at her perfect face.

With Raine's nod of approval, Xavier led her outside, through the garden.

Like the path that had brought Raine from her room down to Xavier, the entire path leading through the garden, past the pond and to the gazebo was dotted with thousands of rose petals and adorned with small lanterns that hung from the low branches of the trees.

The garden had been their favorite spot for as long as they could remember. They had talked and kissed and fell in love together amongst the flowers that bloomed to celebrate their love.

"This is so cute!" Raine gushed, taking in the beautiful table that was set for them. It reminded her of their first official date. Everything was just the same but unlike before, their feelings for each other were stronger than ever. There were no secrets, no lies, no demons. All there was, was them and the love they had for each other.

"How about some pancakes with extra maple syrup?" Xavier asked, adding a wink to remind Raine of the morning they had spent at the cabin. "I know my girl loves that, right?"

"Lots and lots of it." She giggled, taking a strawberry off of the fruit bowl and taking a bite out of it, before stuffing it into Xavier's mouth and laughing.

"So..." She began, after completing the stack full of pancakes.

"So?" Xavier smiled, taking his last bite.

"What's the plan for today?"

"It's extravagant," He smirked. "That's all I'll say.

"Everything you do is extravagant." Raine rolled her eyes. "At least give me a clue."

"All I'll say is that you'll be having some friends over to visit you in a few." He informed smugly. "I'll share you with them for a short amount of time but then you're all mine for the rest of the day." He notified. "And night."

"You're impossible!" Raine laughed, just as Jordon walked into the gazebo with a smile on his face and a present in his hands.

"Hey, Jordon." Raine greeted.

"Happy birthday, Raine." He smiled, handing her the small present.

"Thank you!" She said, hugging him before accepting the gift.

"You've given me my first present." She teased, sticking her tongue out at Xavier.

"Hey!" Xavier whined. "What about my breakfast surprise?'

"This is an official present!" Raine laughed, waving the box in her hands.

"It isn't much," Jordon spoke up. "But I hope you like it, Raine."

"Can I open it now?" She asked with big brown eyes that were simply impossible to say no to.

"Sure." He laughed.

Excited, Raine tore the wrapping paper off of the box before removing the lid and as soon as her eyes fell upon the gift, a smile graced her lips.

"This is so sweet!" Raine said, pulling the snowglobe out of the box.

It had a mini Eiffel Tower on the inside and small buildings that were covered with gold glitter causing it to sparkle against the sunlight.

"I saw your parents' snowglobe collection and thought you might want to continue it," Jordon responded.

"It's perfect!" Raine smiled. "I wanted one from Paris but I forgot to get one. Thank you so much, Jordon! This is really special and sweet of you."

"You're welcome." Jordon grinned. "I came here to inform you that Ms. Daisy and Mr. Mike have arrived. They're waiting in the living room."

"Ah, perfect," Xavier said, standing up and wiping his hands. "Shall we, Raine?"

"Yeah." Raine nodded, excited to see her friends.

Over the past few weeks, Mike and Daisy had visited Raine a numerous amount of times. And even though Mike and Xavier had their differences, they decided to put them aside for the sake of Raine. She only had a few friends and Xavier didn't want to put her in a compromising position because of his issues with Mike.

It had been a few days since Raine had met them and she was excited to see them. Although she didn't have much of a family left besides Xavier, she knew that she could always count on her friends.

"Raine!" The two exclaimed as soon as Raine entered the room. They rushed to her and pulled her into a giant hug.

"Happy birthday!" They cheered, handing her presents and flowers.

"Guys!" She laughed. "Thank you so much!"

"Hello, Xavier!" Daisy greeted.

"Hey, Daisy. It's nice to see you." Xavier responded. "You too, Mike."

"Thanks for squeezing us into your plans," Mike said. "We really wanted to meet Raine today but we knew you probably had a lot of stuff planned.

"That I do." Xavier nodded with a giant grin on his face. "But Raine would have loved to meet you guys, so who am I to say no? "

The group laughed and chatted some more about random things before Daisy cleared her throat gaining the attention of the others.

"Ok, so actually the reason we came here wasn't just to say happy birthday to Raine." Daisy began.

"Umm..." Mike also started, looking at Daisy. "As you guys know, we've been dating for a while and..."

"The thing is that..." Daisy trailed off.

"What happened guys?" Raine asked in confusion. The last thing she wanted was to hear some bad news.

"Did something happen at the cafe?" Xavier asked.

"No." Daisy shook her head before a huge smile crawled onto her face. "Babe?" She asked, turning to Mike.

"We're getting married!" They both burst out, catching Xavier and Raine by surprise.

"What?!" Raine yelled out, shocked.

"Yes!" Daisy gush, pushing her left hand forward to show off her ring.

It was a simple one with a single diamond as the center stone and a gold band.

"That is so pretty! I love it!" Raine let out. "Oh my god! Congratulations!" She said, jumping out of her seat and hugging her.

"Congratulations Mike!" Xavier said, smiling and shaking his hand before pulling him in a bro-hug, while Raine and Daisy were attacking each other with hugs of their own.

"I'm so happy for you!" Raine gushed, admiring the ring and rushing to Mike, pulling him into a hug while Xavier congratulated Daisy.

"Thank you!" The newly engaged couple replied.

"How did you pop the question?" Raine asked. "What did you say?! Where did you go!?"

Xavier and Mike laughed at Raine's excitement while Daisy began her story.

"It was at the cafe!" Daisy said bashfully. "I was cleaning the tables before getting ready to lock everything up and Mike was supposed to be getting the keys from the kitchen. When he didn't come out after a while, I went in and the whole kitchen was filled with red balloons and there were candles and OMG he was on one knee!"

"That is so cute!" Raine cheered. "Awe!"

"Well, I am quite amazing," Mike said, praising himself. "But on a serious note, the most amazing person is this girl next to me. I love you so much, Daisy."

"Love you too Babe!" She said, kissing his cheeks.

"So when's the wedding?" Xavier asked.

"Oh yeah!" Raine exclaimed. "Have you started planning anything?"

"Well..." Daisy said looking towards Mike. "We were thinking of a destination wedding. Something by the beach, maybe."

"Yes." Mike agreed. "Something away from the city."

"Awe! I cannot wait!" Raine said.

"Well of course!" Daisy said. "Since you will be the Maid of Honor!"

"What?!" Raine exclaimed with shock. "Are you serious?!"

"Yes!" Daisy nodded. "Come on, Raine! No one else would make a better Maid of Honor then you!"

"Thank you!" She said with tears in her eyes. "I'm so honored! And I'm so happy for you guys!"

"We're happy for you too Raine," Mike said. "I am so happy that you finally are happy. You deserve all the happiness in the world."

"Yes." Daisy agreed. "I'm really happy for both of you. Xavier, you're a great man and I'm so glad you found Raine. You guys are meant to be and our role models for love." She laughed.

"Thank you, Daisy." Xavier smiled before glancing at Raine. "But I do have to say, you get a lot of the credit. Thanks to your cafe, and a wet floor, I met Raine, and for that, I will be forever grateful."

"Awe!" Daisy cooed. "You guys are the cutest!"

"And now that we've made our announcement, we shall take your leave and let you get back to your birthday celebrations," Mike said.

"Yes! Mr. Hot Shot here has planned a crazy romantic day for you Raine!" Daisy teased. "Have lots of fun and don't forget to use protection!" She shouted out causing Raine to blush.

* * *

"Well, that was quite eventful," Xavier said as soon as they walked back into the house from dropping Mike and Daisy outside.

"I can't believe they're engaged!" Raine said once more. "I'm so happy for them. Mike had been chasing Daisy for such a long time!"

"Like I've been chasing you?" Xavier winked.

"You don't have to chase me cause I'm all yours."

"That is true Ms. Woods," Xavier said, pulling her into his arms. "But I can't wait to make you Mrs. Thorn." He whispered in her ears, causing Raine to blush intensely.

"Xavier.." She whispered, unable to say anything else.

"But for now," He continued. "I've got a special surprise planned."

"Of course." Raine chuckled. "You're the king of surprises, after all."

"The only king I want to be is your king." He flirted.

"Oh gosh." Riane giggled. "Let's go Xavier, or we'll be here all day long."

"Come, my Queen." Xavier led the way, causing another round of laughter from Raine as she followed him wherever he took her.

Even though there was a limitless amount of possibilities, it didn't matter. As long as they were together, there was nothing that couldn't be better.

* * *

After driving a short distance, Raine found herself at the steps of Thorn Inc. Xavier brought the car to a stop and rushed out to open the door for her, guiding her out and up the steps of the company.

"You brought me to the company?" Raine asked in confusion. This was definitely not what she was expecting but surprised, she certainly was.

"Just wait and watch, Little Rose." He smirked, walking her through the lobby where employees stood in a standstill to admire the CEO and his girl.

Unlike before, Xavier only came to the company for pressing matters and Raine's presence was rare. So when they did make an entry, employees found themselves straightening up for their tempered boss.

And with Xavier's romantic expression of his love towards Raine on live television, which was on YouTube's most viewed list, they were an admirable couple that everyone looked up to.

"Mr. Thorn, Ms. Woods, it's a pleasure to see you at the company today." Cole greeted upon spotting the duo in the lobby of the building. "The chopper has arrived and is waiting at the top for your arrival."

"Chopper?" Raine asked, confused as ever.

"Thank you, Cole." Xavier smiled, ignoring Raine's question. "Let's go, Love." He said, guiding her into the elevator and pressing the button to the highest floor.

Like Cole had mentioned, there was indeed a helicopter waiting at the top of the building, ready to take off.

Raine looked up at Xavier who only smirked.

"Ready to take off?" He asked.

"Hell yeah!" Raine cheered. "I've always wanted to go in one of these!"

"Well, your wish is my command." He bowed down to her, before scooping her into his arms and helping her into the chopper

It didn't take long for the helicopter to take off of the ground a soar through the sky.

From above, New York looked even prettier. The views of Central Park and all of the high-rises that Raine passed on a daily basis were stunning, taking her breath away. But what took Xavier's breath away wasn't some view that he could only see from above. It was his view for every moment of the day and every second of the night.

She was like the sea, owning his heart yet setting him free.

Free from all of the sorrow, he was now.

A little bit lost, yet fully in love.

She was like the wind, a wind that blew away all of the pain that he held so deeply in his heart.

Although just a feeling, she was finer then exquisite art.

A masterpiece.

His masterpiece.

And as they glided through the air, looking below at the land that was so small now, he could see his future with her.

A future so bright, that even the sun would be jealous.

"We should be landing soon." Xavier notified her, smiling as he saw the look of awe on her face.

And as soon as the chopper began to descend to the ground, Raine found herself clutching onto Xavier's arms.

"I've got you," Xavier assured her without a moment of hesitation and she believed him without a hint of doubt.

"This is so scary." Raine pouted. "I can't believe I'm in a helicopter."

Xavier chuckled. "Babe, this thing has been lying around for so long. I would've taken you in it sooner, had I known you'd be this fascinated."

"You own this thing?!"

"Yeah, this helicopter and then two jets." Xavier shrugged.

"You're insane." Raine shook her head.

"Then you're insane too," Xavier said. "Cause you love me."

"We're here!" The pilot announced. "Welcome to Washington DC, your carriage awaits just outside."

Xavier walked Raine out of the helicopter while she got a chance to process the words.

"A carriage?" She asked, overwhelmed by the cutest white carriage that stood in front of her as soon as she stepped out of the helicopter. At the front, the carriage was attached to two beautiful white horses while the intricately decorated carriage was adorned with pink flowers of all kinds.

"Well, you are my princess." Xavier shrugged. "It's my duty to serve you right."

"Oh my gosh, Xavier!" Raine gushed. "You should've been a prince!  I don't know what the heck you are doing in this business world. You clearly don't belong."

"Shall we?" Xavier asked, taking her hand in his own and helping her up the carriage.

"Where are we heading now?" Raine asked glancing around as she settled in.

"I'll let you see that for yourself." Xavier grinned.

Soon enough, the colors of the trees that they passed by, changed from green to pink and Raine found herself in a state of pure blissfulness.

No words left her mouth as the carriage came to a halt and Xavier helped her down. He watched her eyes take in the landscape that lay effortlessly in front of them, taking her breath away.

The pink color painted the premise where they stood. The fresh fragrance blew through the air, making everything sweeter, just like their love. Soft petals flew from some of the trees, landing gracefully on top of them as they walked speechlessly through the garden.

"I told you I'd bring you here one day, didn't I?" Xavier asked, watching Raine's expression.

Her eyes were wider than ever and her mouth slightly ajar.

"Oh my god..." she breathed out. "This is... it's stunning."

"It is," Xavier said, staring intently at her.

She was stunning.

She was breathtaking.

She was everything that made him speechless.

"The Cherry Blossom Festival," Raine whispered. "They are so pretty, Xavier. I've always wanted to come here. Ever since Dad came, it was my dream to come to visit."

"I know." Xavier smiled. "And luckily your birthday happens to fall during the same time that these cherry blossoms bloom."

"This is the best thing that could've happened today, Xavier," Raine admitted. "This is literally the best day ever."

"Hold your horses, Love," Xavier winked. "There are so many more hours left in the day for me to shower you with surprise."

"You're crazy." Raine giggled. "Wanna walk around?"

"Of course." Xavier agreed.

The spring breeze soared through her hair and tickled her cheeks as Xavier wrapped his arm around the small of her waist, guiding her through the numerous rows of the cherry blossoms that lined the path. Pink petals painted the lush green grass that lined the ground like a soft blanket. And the rich, fresh fragrance transpiring in the air, flowing through the vast landscape and creeping through their noses and covering their souls with the gift of spring's finest perfume.

Ahead, underneath the perfect cherry blossom, there was a pinic basket set up under a soft blanket awaiting their presence.

"You Mister, seriously need to reconsider your occupation." Raine laughed. "More and more romantic with every passing second, I swear. Xavier, you're something else." She asked as they sat down on the blanket. "When did you get all of this setup?"

"I have my sources." He grinned.

Just as they sat down, a gust of wind came blowing, showering pink petals onto them. They looked up laughing, but just as Xavier's eyes fell upon Raine's, he frowned with the presence of tears in her eyes.

"Raine..." He uttered. "You're crying."

"No." She shook her head, wiping away the tears. "These are happy tears, silly!"

"I hate tears in your eyes."

"Xavier all of this." She said, looking around. "I never imaged a life where I'd have anything, let alone a man like you. A man that would understand me so well. A man that would know all of my dreams. Even the itty-bitty ones that I never tell anyone. Someone who'd just know me and love me the way that you do."

"Your perfection, Raine." Xavier shrugged. "How can I not love you? How can I not make your dreams come true? You're the reason I want to wake up every morning. You're the reason that I want to live another day."

"You know, the media is so wrong about you," Raine said, staring into his ocean blue eyes.

"What do you mean?" Xavier asked, spreading out the contents of the picnic basket across the soft cloth.

"You aren't selfish, coldhearted, a playboy." Raine said, "You're nice and kind and caring. You respect women. You're loving and thoughtful. You're not like all of those guys that only care for sex. You care for people. Your heart is so big."

"You say these things to me, Raine," Xavier said, holding her hand in his own. "Yet you've never seen what I was before you."

"I say what I see and my eyes can't lie." She replied back honestly. "You put yourself so low Xavier... And if we are talking about pasts, then you don't know who I was before you, either. I was weak, scared, struggling to stand on my feet. You gave me confidence, strength, and so much more."

"I want to give you the world," Xavier said before capturing her lips with his own.

The magic from their first kiss was still there. Her lips were still just as soft and her touch was still just as warm, causing fireworks to burst in his world. She was like chocolate that melted her way into his heart. Past all of the walls that he had built up for so long ago. She had seeped her way into his heart, into his soul, into every part of him and there was no way that she'd never leave.

The was no way that he'd ever let her leave.

"I wish I could stay here forever," Raine whispered softly, afraid that their voice might break the spell of tranquility that had settled between them as they pulled out of the kiss, their lips tingling.

"Well, considering the fact that it is government property, it would be utterly impossible to purchase it," Xavier replied.

"Xavier..." Raine giggled, "I was just joking."

"No" Xavier shook his head. "You were dreaming."

"Dreaming is limitless," Raine said. "Life isn't."

"It's my job to make all of your dreams come true," Xavier said

"No." She shook her head. "Your job is to love me."

"Raine, your dreams are my goals."

"Then you should know that the biggest dream in my life is you." She confessed, kissing his nose. "So just be you and I'll be the happiest person alive."

"But what if I could make a few of your dreams come true? The ones that seem unreachable? The ones you dreamt of long ago but never fulfilled?"

"What are you talking about Xavier?" Raine asked with confusion.

"Happy birthday Raine," Xavier said, before taking both of her hands in his own and kissing them.

Raine's eyes scrunched up as seriousness overcame Xavier's body. There was love in his eyes and truth in his voice as he began to speak and Raine could feel her heart warm up with every syllable that left his mouth.

"Raine, I never knew what happiness was until I met you." He began. "I was going about life, not caring about the world or even myself. I didn't know what love was and I didn't even care. I had cut everyone out of my life. Thought I could live alone forever because that was the only way to protect my heart."

"But then came along. You were beautiful and you were innocent and you didn't care about my money or reputation. You were pure and perfect and everything that I ever dreamt off. You made my heart beat faster and that freaked me out but I still came close to you, loving the rush. Loving the warmth you had. Loving you."

"I used to think that the strongest people were those that never got hurt but you changed that. You made me realized that the strongest people weren't those that never got hurt but those that got hurt, but still had the courage to stand back up and fight."

"You made me realize that life didn't have to be an empty desert, that it could be a beautiful garden and that I could be happy."

"You gave me something that no one ever could. You gave me something that no amount of money could buy." He breathed out. "You dealt with my shit. The stupid press and reports that never seemed to leave us alone and my temper that always got the best of me. You stayed when you didn't have to and calmed me down when it wasn't ever your responsibility."

"You showed me what living meant and you showed me that true love existed. That even though the world we live in was a horrible dark place, that I could still find the light... And I found that light. I found it in you."

"Today's your birthday, Raine. And I know that there's nothing that I could ever do to repay you for what you have given me, but I hope this helps." He said, pulling out a yellow envelope.

"I know you don't like celebrating your birthday. Not when it holds so many bad memories and I understand. But we both vowed that we'd start fresh again, Raine. And I want to start again with you." Xavier proclaimed. "I love you, Raine. I am so in love with you and I know for a fact that it is impossible to not love you. So, if you love me, and I know you do, please accept this." He handed the envelop over to her.

Raine took the envelope into her hands, wiping a tear off her face from Xavier's words. "What is this Xavier?" She asked.

"A birthday present." He smiled softly.

"You don't need to give me anything, Xavier." She shook her head. "The only thing I've ever wanted was you."

"But I want forever, Raine," Xavier said. "I want forever, and I want it with you."

Raine chuckled, tears welling up in her eyes.

"I want forever too." She whispered.

Xavier gained, leaning down and kissing her cheek. "Open it."

Raine nodded. Tearing the top of the envelop off and tilting to find a stack of papers fall out.

A frown covered her face at the sight and she looked up at Xavier who was looking at her nervously.

"What is this?" She asked.

"Read it."

Raine did as she was told, flipping through the papers and taking all of the information in. A look of shock covered her face and she didn't know what she could possibly say.

"Xavier, what is all of this?" She asked in shock.

"These, my love, are the papers to the new Thorn Inc headquarters, located in San Francisco," Xavier announced.

"New headquarters?"

"Yes. Thorn Inc is transferring to California where we will be having a new headquarters, even bigger than the one we have here. The first floor of our new building will have a new cafe, which will be all yours. You can bake as much as your heart desires and do what you are passionate about, not just work for money."

"Xavier this... I...." She began but stopped when words wouldn't come out of her mouth.

"Baby." He said, putting both of his hands on her shoulders. "Relax."

"You want to move to California?"

"Yes. We all deserve a fresh start Raine, and I want one with you." Xavier explained. "I've never really loved New York, and now I've got nothing here worth staying for. We can go to California, Raie and start a new life together."

"I don't know what to say..."

"The building will have a private section at the top five floors which will be reserved for our penthouse where we will live." He continued. "I'll work at the new company and you can work at your cafe. You don't have to work for me anymore, you're the boss now. Wasn't this your dream?"

"And what are these?" She asked, a sob escaping her mouth at all of this sudden knowledge.

Xavier glances at the papers, knowing well that they would cause such a reaction.

"I had a conversation with Dan Striker and his wife, at the end of it, we all thought that no one deserves to have that house more than you." He declared. "It's your's Raine. Your parents' house is now yours.

"How can I accept this Xavier?" She sobbed. "This is too much, Xavier. I... I love you, but this..."

"You deserve this Raine. That house was meant to be yours. And as for the company, that's my choice. I did it for us. I want to leave the past behind but we'll never be able to if we stay here. Our demons will always find a way to tarnish our happiness." He professed. "We can't choose to change our past but we can change our future."

"I love you."

"I love you more," Xavier said before kissing her tears away. "I love you so damn much."

"You're the best thing in the whole wide world." Raine smiled. "I love you more than I love maple syrup."

Xavier chuckled, pulling away from and cupped her face. Her eyes were big and brown and in them, he could see a world where he was happy. A world where he was loved.

Life wasn't perfect. They weren't perfect.

But that moment? It was.

It was perfection.

"So Raine, will you spend forever with me?"

Raine nodded, crying and throwing herself into his arms. There was nothing for in the world that she was more certain about.

"Ah, ah, ah." Xavier teased. "I need answers, Baby."

"Yes." She answered.

"Forever, Raine?"

"Forever."
