Tiffany's POV:
The next morning I wake up early, get dressed into my training clothes and head out into the backyard to train. These days I feel like my powers are getting stronger, but in a sense where I can control them.
I go to my spot by the pond and do what I did the first time I came here. I lift the water. I repeat the words in my head like I always do and the water rises, mixing together they make a large water ball. I feel hands on my waist making me drop the water and making it splash everywhere, including all over me. Kinda feels like deja vu I close my eyes and turn around, glaring at the person standing beside me.
"Kyle." I ground out, "What the hell!"
"Woah, chill out Tiffany." He smirks and I shake my head. "Well it worked."
"What worked?" I ask confused and still mad that he made me splash water everywhere.
"I scared you and to top it off you got soaked in the process." He's still smirking.
"Run." I whisper.
"Wha-"
"I said run." I say through gritted teeth and a smirk of my own.
I use my powers to make the light breeze increase so now it is blowing faster, making the branches on the trees shake and the leaves on the ground move about.
"You want to play a game. We can." I say innocently with a small smile.
"I'd like to see you try Tiff." He winks and runs off.
I don't really need to go after him because I use my transportation powers to move me right in front of him.
"Did you really think you could get away from me Kyle?" I ask him with a sweet innocent tone. He laughs lightly and I shake my head. I nod my head up, making some water from the pond rise and use my eyes to swirl it around. Kyle didn't realise what I was doing and that he was walking backwards until I dropped the swirling water over his head.
"How'd you do that?" He asks me with surprise and I grin.
"I taught myself that. Pretty cool aye." I say, using my eyes again to make the wind blow around us in circles.
"Your eyes are glowing." He whispers. "It didn't consume you."
"The Elementaret is helping me out through all of this, I guess I just got the hang of it after a while." I tell him, playing with a loose strand of hair. "I kind have covered three elements. Earth, Water and Air. I still have yet to figure out how to use my fire powers." I tell him and he smiles.
"I'm proud of you. I really am Tiff."
"Ohh! Watch this!" I tell him. Pointing to a spot in the garden, I say a few words in my head and watch as a orchid plant sprouts out of the ground. A new trick I learn't somehow last week.
Moving my finger around in a circle making a vine grow out of the plant and using the end of the vine to touch Kyle's neck, making him start laughing. He is most definitely ticklish.
"S-stop it!" He giggles, I tickle his neck with the vine again making him giggle even louder. "Please, st-op it!"
His giggle makes the butterflies in my stomach awaken. I listen to him, making the vine return back to normal height of the orchid plant.
"It's cool isn't it. I love the Elementaret and I'm sure I can use this power for good." I tell him with a smile.
"I'm sure you can Tiff." Kyle tells me and then I hear a few yells from the back door.
"What's happening out here?" Skylar calls out and I wave at her. "Breakfast is ready by the way!"
I look to Kyle, to see he is already looking at me. "Go have a shower before you catch a cold... again."
"I'm sure you would just enjoy another day of just watching TV shows or movies." I say with a playful grin. "I'll race you to the back doors? On three." I say and start counting down before taking off running my hardest to the back doors.
"I beat you!" He cheers. I shake my head smiling.
"Next time Kyle. Next time." I tell him, walking in the open back door. As soon as I step through the door a delicious smell hits my sense of smell. I walk in to find Skylar in her usual attire of just a long t-shirt. "Hey Sky! I'm just going to have a quick shower."
"Okay Tee." I can hear the smile in her voice. As I'm leaving I hear her whisper cute couple.
I shake my head in amusement and continue my way up the stairs. There is no way me and Kyle will end up together. Especially after all the stuff that has happened here.
I go in the bathroom, turning the hot water on first, then adjusting the cold water to make it warm. I strip off my clothes and hop in the shower letting it drench me from head to toe.
The smell of pancakes hit my nose making me hurry towards the kitchen. When I reach the kitchen I instantly take a seat at the breakfast bar and find Skylar flipping a pancake over. So no Tyler then? I guess this was what was suppose to happen though, right? Skylar places a plate in front of me and snaps her fingers in front of my face.
"Huh? What?"
"You spaced out Tee. What's on your mind?" Skylar asks me and I shrug.
"Nothing much. I'm just wondering about Tyler actually." I tell her and she nods giving me a sad smile, putting her hand to her hair scratching it nervously.
"Give him some time. He'll eventually start talking to you again. It's probably just weird for him, you know." I nod.
"I just hope he understands why I did it." I say, stuffing my mouth with a slice of pancake,with syrup and banana slices. Mmm, this is good. "Are all the Conaway's good cooks?" I ask randomly, changing the topic and she smiles.
"It's talent lovely. Although I only learn from the best." She shrugs, and turns back to the stove, pouring some mixture onto the fry pan.
"I'm sure mom enjoyed the time when you blew the microwave up by putting foil in it." Kyle says with a smirk, leaning on the kitchen door frame.
Skylar's cheeks turns bright red as she glares at Kyle. "I was ten, okay? I didn't know not to put foil in the microwave." She explains.
"Good memories." Kyle says.
Silence takes over the kitchen and I finish my food, soon Skylar places a new plate piled with pancakes on it.
"I miss her." Skylar whispers, making Kyle walk over to her and gives her a tight hug.
"Me too." He whispers.
I slowly slip out of the kitchen letting them have their moment. I wasn't going to pry, it was none of my business.
As I move myself to the living room, which doesn't seem to be used much- well not that I know of anyway, I take my time to look at the pictures in the frames on my way. There wasn't many, but one did stand out from the others, it was a family portrait. Tyler, Kyle and Skylar standing next to a young woman and a man. His parents I suppose, seeming the couple was laughing together, happiness and love filled their eyes. Tyler,Kyle and Skylar were smiling. When I look closer I see that Kyle looks a lot like his mother. Like for instants, Kyle has his mother's blue eyes, and her brown hair. She looked in her mid thirties. His father has brown eyes and dark almost black hair. He didn't look much older than the woman, I'd say he would be in his mid thirties as well.
"That was just before she died." A voice says behind me, making me jump. I turn around and face Kyle who shows no emotion at all. His mother died. I just stay silent, letting him talk. "I'm guessing you want to know how she died." It wasn't a question, more like a statement.
"I don't want to pry." I say quietly and he shakes his head, taking my hand.
"Come on." He says, pulling me out the door and into the back yard, down to the bench by the pond. "Let's sit. I'll tell you what happened, only because it sort of relates to you." Relates to me how? Once we're both seated, he stares out into the garden and talks. "This is my mother's garden by the way. She wanted to make it look beautiful and colourful. Her favourite place was the botanical gardens and wanted her backyard to look the same." He tells me. I actually thought that it looked like the botanical gardens. "Anyways, this garden is where my mother trained." Trained? "My mother was born with the Elementaret just like you. She didn't know how to handle it properly, although she trained and trained, it worked for a while but as she grew it didn't work as effectively. The Elementaret consumed her and took over her body. Remember those times you had pains in your chest and random stuff happened? Well yeah that also happened to her, but when the Elementaret consumes you the pain is heaps worse. The last time I saw her was when I was eleven. Sky, Ty and I were all with her in the backyard, she was telling us a story... until the pain started in her. I panicked, Skylar was crying and Tyler was trying to help mom, she told him to get our father. After a while things started happening around us. The wind was out of control, a fire started- everything was just wrong. My mother was a good person, why did it have to happen to her. My father soon came outside and my mother yelled at him to get something from inside the house, he ran back inside only to come back out with a gun or what I thought was a gun. It was specially made for the Elementaret. If it consumed anyone, the person had to be killed so the Elementaret will be destroyed." He didn't have to say anymore. I understand now. Why he was so persistent on helping me. "At first my father refused, telling her that she can get through this. But she told him the only way everyone would be safe was to kill her and the power." A tear falls from Kyle's eye but he continues. "My mother died because of the Elementaret. And when I heard that another person was born with it, you could imagine my reaction.
"Kyle, it's okay. You don't have to continue." I tell him and give him a hug, he hugs me back.
"I needed to make sure it didn't happen again Tiff. I didn't want another person to die because of the Elementaret."
"How does the bad organisation come in to this though?" I ask him. He pulls back and leans back on the bench.
"They figured out a way to preserve it. They kill the victim and take the Elementaret out of you, by cutting the victim open." A shiver travels down my spine when he says that. "That's the reason why you're staying here. You need to be safe and you need to know how to control the Elementaret. But if they ever get their hands on the Elementaret, things could go bad. Really bad."
"I guess I understand a bit more now." I say quietly. "So what happened with your dad?" I ask him and he shakes his head.
"Yeah, well after he killed my mother he wasn't himself. And after about a year later he said he needed to get away for a bit. Tyler came home one afternoon and told us something had happened and that our father killed himself, by hanging himself off a bridge." I gasp. He killed himself. "He loved our mother, you could see the love they had just by looking at them when they were together. Mom only ever wanted to protect us, and dad only wanted the same. I guess it got to him, he didn't want to kill her, mom only asked so she could save us all. And in the end, we lost them both. To the stupid Elementaret."
I hug him again, this time he hugs me back tighter. I don't know how they could have handled this on their own, especially since Kyle was only young.
"Well, anyways that's all you really need to know." He tells me and stands up.
"Wait!" I say, "Can I ask a question?"
He gave me a small smile and says, "As long as it doesn't involve any pity towards what I just told you."
"It doesn't."
"Then go on." He tells me, looking me in the eye. Looking at him, I can see his eyes are glossy.
"If your mother had the Elementaret in her, and your father had some sort of gun to kill it, does that mean it's been in your family through generations or was the organisation just was passed down."
"Tiff, the organisation wasn't started by my family. They were started by the first people who discovered the Elementaret existed and decided they needed to protect the person that had the power in them. My family somehow got involved, I'm guessing cause my mother was one of them. Although I'm pretty sure my father was part of the organisation, explains why he had that gun. Tyler, Skylar and I just ended up being apart of the organisation from the aftermath." He tells me with a shrug and starts walking back to the house.
Kyle has had a hard life. Well now I feel like the biggest bitch for being rude to him from the beginning when all he was trying to do was help me.
"Tiffany!" A voice sings up the stairs and soon my door swings open, Callum looks... well different, he's more energetic than usual. "Oh there you are!"
"What's up?" I ask him, placing my phone on the bed.
"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out with me and Sky. She really wants to go out somewhere and asked if I wanted to come, so of course I said yes." He tells me.
"Sure. Where are we going?"
"The beach. It's nice and warm outside, so wear a bikini." He smiles and walks out of my room.
Typical males.
The cold weather is starting to wear off as spring starts to get closer, which I'm happy about cause it's warmer and I just love spring. I go into my drawer and look for one of the bikinis I brought when I went with Tyler to the mall. I grab my favourite set. It was yellow with white poka dots on it. Sorta vintage looking. The bottoms were high waisted that reached just under my belly button. The top was a push up and a halter neck.
I put my black summer jumpsuit over the top, matching it with a pair of sandals. I also grab a towel, some sun screen, a floppy beach hat and some sunglasses that I found in my room. I also make sure to bring my phone.
When I walk out the door Kyle was walking past and looks at me with a small smile. It's been a few days since what he told me, I guess it just made us a tiny bit closer.
"Going somewhere?" He asks me.
"Yeah, Skylar and Cal invited me to the beach." Then an idea pops up in my head. "Do you want to come? It'll be fun." I say, trying to convince him and he smiles.
"Why not? Give me a few minutes and I'll meet you guys downstairs." He tells me, turning back towards his room.
I skip my way down the stairs, and out to the car to find Cal and Tyler packing the boot with stuff.
"Hey Ty." I say quietly.
He gives me a small hug and whispers a sorry before saying. "Hey little-T!"
"So you're coming with us?" I ask him and he nods. "Kyle's coming too, he's just getting a few things and he'll meet us down here." I tell him and the others.
"Will we all fit in the car?" Skylar asks, I turn to her and she looks like she's up to something.
"I don't think we will, looks like someone's going to have to stay." Cal joins in. They are most definitely up to something.
Kyle walks out just as Cal says that. "We can take two cars." He suggests.
Skylar grins at Cal and nods at Kyle. "Good idea. Tee, you should go with Ky, keep him company on the way. It is a fair drive."
So that's what she was planning. I feel my heart race faster. Me and Kyle in a car. Alone. Not like it's any different when he's lying next to me on the bed watching TV series and movies. No, but my heart racing faster is the same though.
"Okay." I say quietly, just as Kyle tells me I don't have to but, I shake my head. "Nah, it's okay. Let's go to the beach." I say with a bit more enthusiasm.
"Let's go to the beach!" Callum and Skylar repeat with a grin.
Tyler gives me a small smile before hopping in the driver's seat of his car, and Kyle does the same in his. I hop in the passenger seat after placing my things in the backseat, except for my phone. After closing the door, Kyle starts up the ignition.
"Ready?" He asks me and I nod silently with a small smile.
I can feel my racing heart inside my chest. Even with the music playing in the background, my thoughts are too busy thinking about why my heart is beating faster than it should.
