Lizzie finally started to gain control, it began with her having Rae over for small visits and her keeping herself fed as much as she needs it. She could feel herself getting stronger as the weeks went by.
She felt strong enough to get back into town and hangout with Rae. Which she did, she told her to meet her at the Grill around midnight like old times.
Lizzie came in she was greeted by the usual waitress, she noticed Rae sitting at their booth waiting for her. She smiled as she walked over and sat down.
"Hey," Lizzie greeted.
"Hello," Rae greeted smiling at her, "you doing better?"
Lizzie nodded confidently, "definitely, I'm gaining control."
"I would suspect the control freak would conquer this obstacle too," Rae said winking at her.
Lizzie laughed, "well I do always win," she grabbed her hand just to hold it.
"What's it like? Being immortal?" Rae asked.
Lizzie paused, "it's weird. I feel like everything's heightened, like I can crush the world, I feel everything so differently," she pursed her lips, "I can hear things far away, I can see things normal human eyes can't, and I have strange urges."
"It sounds amazing."
"Not really," she laughs, "you just adapt to it."
Rae nodded, she seemed troubled, Lizzie was interested in why, "you okay?"
"My dad still hasn't come back," Rae told her, "the things he talked about were true all along, he wasn't crazy- actually I think he was but not with that. Mom has given up on him. She has started packing up his stuff."
"Thats stupid," Lizzie commented.
"I know," Rae shook her head tears welling in her eyes, "I wish I could be at the school with you."
"So do I," Lizzie agreed, "but it is not safe for humans."
"Are you protective of me, Lizzie Saltzman?" Rae teased.
Lizzie smiled, "more than you know."
Rae just giggled as Lizzie's smile grew because of her.
Because she loved her and it only was heightened as a vampire and she didn't care, she loved her.
