Chapter 1: Full Moon✔

I am a Hale ~ S.M [1]Words: 11117

Chapter 1

I should have never come back. I should have stayed in South America. I was happy there... of course, I had the occasional fights and issues but I was safe. I can't say the same about where I am now. The walls of this dingy bank vault offer no protection whatsoever.

Ironic isn't it?

It's been three months at this point. Three bloody months stuck in this confined room held captive with two other teenagers. It's been hell, to say the least. I've even started forgetting what the outside feels like. To feel the soft breeze against my skin, grass between my toes, sunlight beating on my skin.... the moonlight.

But that's not even the worst part. It's the waiting that really gets you. I never know when one of the Alphas will come and rip us to shreds. Every knock, every creak puts me on edge. Whenever one of them enters, I never know if one of us will leave. If it will be our last day alive. When we first got captured I didn't think they would actually kill any of us. I thought they only wanted to use us as bait to get to Derek, my older brother. But I was wrong. So very wrong...

They killed Erica. She killed Erica.

Erica was one of the girls in this vault. She and Boyd, another one in here, were close friends. The only crime they committed was wanting to get a better life. To leave Beacon Hills behind and never look back.

I never knew her very well. I wasn't in a very sociable mood then. Getting thrown in a bank vault by a bunch of Alphas does that to you. But from what I've heard from Boyd, she was a good person. She struggled a lot growing up, but when Derek gave her the gift she overcame her weaknesses and was better for it. Boyd was in Derek's pack. He said that although Derek was a tough, demanding alpha, they knew he meant well.

I pace up and down the vault for what must be the hundredth time today, pondering the same thought over again: Was it really worth it? Coming back to Beacon Hills, to the town where my entire family was murdered, to be thrown into a bank vault. For what? For Derek? For redemption? For a fresh start?

What a fresh start this is...

I look down to my left and see Boyd sitting against the bank pillar. Cora, my sister, is resting a comforting hand on his shoulder. Cora lifts her head up towards me and motions towards Boyd. 'Your turn' she mouths. I shake my head slightly and walk away.

It's not like I'm heartless or anything. I just don't do well with helping people. I never know what to say. How can you put yourself into someone else's shoes when you have no idea what they're going through? You haven't experienced their life so how can you help them? Death is something that happens to everyone. You can't escape it, you can't change it so why spend your time mourning when there are people you love still living?

Maybe I am just heartless...

Maybe I haven't learned how to feel properly, to show real, true emotion. After losing my family I was forced to grow up fast. There was no time for grieving. No time for dwelling on the past. The past is gone and I can't get it back. There was only time for surviving...

Survival at any cost

Bang

I lift my hands from over my face and try to locate the sound of the noise.

Is it the alphas? Is this it? Is another one of us fated to be ripped to shreds?

Bang

I stand up from my spot against the pillar with furrowed brows. That's definitely not the alphas. They wouldn't break down a wall to get inside.

Bang

The wall cracks open as a fist appears. Moonlight shines into the dingy room for the first time in months. Lighting up the marble walls and metal bars.

My heart drops as I feel it

It's not just any moonlight... It's the full moon. The full moon I haven't felt in three months.

My body feels like it's on fire. It's like all the emotions I've felt these past few months have been brought to the surface. My mind swirls with so many sensations making me feel dizzy.

A body tumbles through the hole and lands on its feet. Another steps through afterward. Their faces are obscured by the darkness but judging from their body shapes, they look male.

Two heartbeats...

Their heartbeats pound in my ears like a drum. Two heartbeats with two warm bodies...I feel my fingertips start to ache.

No no no... control it.

"Boyd?" The first voice asks. Definitely male but...

Where have I heard that voice before?

I try to focus on the voice. To distract myself from the light entering the room and taking over my body. My mind swirls. I know I know it. It's right there but I can't reach it. I hear footsteps to my left. I glance over and see Boyd taking slow steps towards the figures.

"Boyd?" The same voice asks again less confident. The man stands up cautiously as Boyd begins to growl.

This isn't good.

I trudge over to Cora and nudge her side. She's looking at the ground with her hands curled into fists. She was always better at controlling it than me. Her eyes then lift up to me. Sweat coats her forehead as her eyes flicker from brown to gold.

"Fight it...okay?" She manages to get out in labored breathes.

"Hello?" The other voice asks. The figure takes a step closer to where Cora and I are.

no, don't come closer...don't

His heartbeat becomes louder in my ears. I can almost feel the warm blood following through his body...

"It's me." The first voice says taking slow steps towards Boyd. "It's Derek."

Derek?

Derek as in my brother Derek? What is doing here? How did he know where we were?

I growl as a loud noise suddenly hits my ears making me recoil. The man in front of us reaches into his pocket and pulls out his phone.

"Stiles now's not the best time." He rushes out.

Everything suddenly starts to become more vivid. The darkness in the room fades as my eyes adjust. All the smells in the room enter my nostrils. Fear, anger...

"What does that mean?" He asks into the phone quickly.

I close my fists as I feel my claws growing. They dig into my palms as blood begins to drip down my hands.

Come on...

"We're here to get you out, okay." Derek takes a cautious step closer to Boyd.

"Don't..." I mutter, barely audible.

I can't breathe. I can't think straight. My mind swirls with desires. Blood, flesh...

stop...no

alpha beta omega

"Derek, we got a problem. A really big problem." He rushes out, with wide eyes. Cora begins to walk away from me, keeping her fists closed. She stumbles for a bit before standing next to Boyd. Derek furrows his brows as he looks at her. He takes a step closer, squinting his eyes.

"Cora?" He breathes.

"Who?" The man furrows his brows, glancing from Derek to Cora.

"Cora?" Derek's eyes soften as he stares at her.

"Derek, get out," Cora growls out. "Get out now!"

My lips begin to bleed as my fangs pierce into them. I shut my eyes as hard as I can, focusing on my breathing.

I can do this... I'm stronger than this

Do it for Derek...

I growl out as another loud noise enters my sensitive ears. The doors to the bank vault open with a screech, adding more light to the dingy room. The man in front of me perks his head up and looks in my direction. He squints his eyes for a moment before they widen.

"Ah, Derek." He mutters, taking a step back. He turns his vision to the side as a woman enters the vault. She looks around the room for a second before emotionlessly bending down with black powder in her hands...

mountain ash

I move my eyes around the room to see a circle of mountain ash surrounding us.

It's a trap

"What? No, Wait!" The other guy rushes towards the door but it's too late.

She completes the circle as all hell breaks loose.

Boyd roars as his eyes glow their menacing amber. He lunges forward and begins slashing at Derek. Cora soon follows going after him as well. The sound of heartbeats echo in my ears until it becomes all that I can hear. Heartbeats that are pumping the blood flowing through their veins. Veins that are in their fleshy bodies...

stop it

It's Derek, your brother Derek

...Bodies that can be ripped open with sharp teeth and torn apart by piercing claws...

come on... fight it

I roar

I release my fists and rush towards the figure in front of me. He jumps back and narrowly avoids my claws. I kick him in the stomach causing him to lose balance. I growl in his face before slashing at him again. My claws meet his skin and graze his cheek.

Blood coats my claws in a beautiful crimson color. I stare at it before turning back to the man in front of me. I charge at him again with a pang of newfound hunger. I slash at his body multiple times until he manages to grab my arms. I push him backward until he hits the wall behind him. I bare my teeth at him while trying to free my arms.

I'll admit for a beta, he's pretty strong... at least I think he's a beta, I've never seen the color of his eyes.

I growl at him, trying desperately to claw his arms away, his face away, his eyes away...

His brown eyes...

Something grabs me from behind and tosses me to the side. I scramble to my feet and growl at the assailant. Derek looks at me with wide eyes, his mouth opening slowly.

"Nina?" He says out of breath. I run at him and slash at his face. He manages to grab my waist and throws me into Cora. We tumble to the ground.

"You know them?" The guy rushes out as he and Derek take a break by the wall.

"They're my sisters. My younger sisters." Derek replies quickly while looking around.

"What the hell are they doing here?"

"Like I have a clue!" Derek exclaims. "I thought they were dead." I scramble back to my feet and set my eyes on my prey.

"Look out!" A voice sounds from behind me. My vision stays on the two of them as I charge in their direction. Boyd charges at the other guy while I slash at Derek. Derek steps back and avoids all my slashes until Cora comes up behind him and slashes his back. He cries out before turning around and pushing Cora to the side. I take my chance and go to slash his side but he manages to grab my arm, twist it behind my back and push me to the floor. Derek puts a foot onto my chest to hold me down while Cora advances on him again.

"No! don't break the seal!" Derek yells out.

I continue clawing at Derek's leg. I tear away the fabric of his jeans until my claws sink into his skin. He cries out and lifts his leg from my chest. I move out of the way and scramble to my feet.

"Boyd!" The voice from the door yells. Boyd doesn't hesitate. He immediately gets his claws out of Scott and runs out of the bank vault. I see my chance and run after him into the cold air.

Freedom

Three months of being trapped in there with the same three people not being able to do anything but count the days. Now I can finally run free. Feel the fresh air against my cheeks, the natural light on my skin,

blood on my claws...

I roar out as I charge my way forward.

I am on a mission to kill anything and everything with a heartbeat...
