"It's me, Evan. I brought you guys fresh towels," I open the door and grab the towels.
"Is everything going okay in there?"
"Oh, yes. Thank you for asking. Can you give us some privacy, please? I know it's a lot to ask, especially since we're using your restroom, but I don't want anyone to paparazzi over Mr. Winters cutting himself at a party," I see Evan nod.
"Oh, I understand. Take all the time you need," I hug Evan.
"Thanks, you're the best. I'll see you later, okay?" I see Evan nod, and I close the door and lock it.
"So, Mr. Knight and Shining Armor show up again to save the day?"
"What the hell is your problem? I'm my own person, and so are you. You don't own me," I see him roll his eyes.
"I'm not trying to own you. If I'm my own person, why did I see you jealous when that girl at the coffee house gave me her number?" I roll my eyes.
"I wasn't jealous. Why did you call me darling when you handed me my drink? Were you jealous when Evan was dancing with me? Is that why you're acting this way?" He looks at me silently.
"Oh my- You're fucking jealous. That's why," I lean in close to Mr. Winters.
"You want me all to yourself, huh? You're used to getting your way. Well, too bad. You can't have me. You have plenty of women to satisfy your needs. Do you think I didn't see all the women sitting next to you when you broke the glass? You had a crowd of women begging for your attention."
"Yet, you're mad at me for dancing with one man while you had women all over your lap. What a bitch that is," I wet a towel and put it on his wound and press pressure on it. I see him flinch, and I take a deep breath.
"You're your own person, and so am I. There should be no reason why any of us should be getting mad. We're both single, well hopefully you are. I don't know anything about your relationship status. Whatever you do with your life and relationship is your own thing. You do your thing, and I'll do mine," I dig in the kit and pull out a thread and needle.
"This should hold until you see a Dr. about it," I take the towel off. I gently put two stitches in the cut. I tie it off the thread and cut off the extra.
"How do you know how to do this?"
"Oh, now you want to talk? Well, Mr. Winty, I was taught by my sister. My sister's a Dr. She taught me a little doctoring up, so it could save a life when the time comes. It saved yours," I hear him chuckle.
"What's so funny? I yell at you, save your life, and all you do is laugh."
"You're still calling me Mr. Winty," I roll my eyes.
"Well, duh. It fits you. You never said anything against it, so I called you the name. You act like you've never had a nickname before."
"I haven't," I look at Mr. Winters, confused as hell.
"Really? It's because you don't have many friends. I can be your friend if you want," I smile.
"That sounds good, but I do have friends. I was meeting a friend here at his party to make a business offer," I look at him confused.
"Evan's your friend?"
"I would call recently friend, but yes."
"So you're only here to make a business offer? What business offer," I hear Mr. Winters chuckle.
"Now, that I can't tell you. It's private and upcoming matters which can't be discussed," I roll my eyes.
"Whatever. Oh, one more thing," I clean up Mr. Winters's hand, grab a dinosaur bandaid from the kit, and put it on his stitches. I kiss the bandaid.
"There. All finished. Your boo-boo should heal in no time. It's not my best of work, but I had a drink or two. You should see a Dr about getting it checked out, but it should be good to go," I see Mr. Winters look at the bandaid.
"I have a boo-boo you can kiss somewhere else," I roll my eyes.
"There you go again with your dirty mind," I hear Mr. Winters chuckle.
"You know, last night when we were in the room, I saw your smile. It's too bad you hide under that mask, but don't worry. I won't tell anyone," I see him look me in the eyes and say nothing. The pain in his eyes says a lot. I start putting the kit in my bag.
"You ran back with the first aid kit awfully quick," I chuckle.
"Yeah. I live in the apartment across the hall. It also helps that I'm wearing red sneakers," I hear Mr. Winters laugh.
"Sneakers?"
"Hell yeah. From being a stripper, I hate high heels. If I had to, I would choose sneakers over anything instead," I hear him chuckle.
"At least you're in a better mood now," I pull my phone out of my purse and check the time.
"Shit. I'm going to be late for my flight."
"Your flight?"
"Yes. I have to catch my flight to Toronto in thirty minutes, or I'll miss it."
"I could take you there," I look at him like he's crazy.
"You, take me to Toronto? You realize it's in another country, and the drive would take up major gas."
"Well, of course. Every vehicle and jet takes gas," I roll my eyes.
"Did you say jet?"
"Of course. It's the least I could do since you helped me."
"Are you sure? I wouldn't want to use you. Plus, I have to bring Charlotte, too."
"Just bring her along. The plain ride could always use another person."
"What about our tickets? I'd have to refund them."
"Just give it to me, and I'll take care of it. Go get your things ready and meet me in the parking lot," I jump on him to hug Mr. Winters tightly. I see his hand hovering over my back as he doesn't know how to react.
"Thank you so much. I'll get ready. I'll meet you in the parking lot," I run out of the bathroom.
I pace down the stairs and run into someone knocking me down. I look up and see Eric. Shit.
"Mrs. Stone. What a pleasure seeing you here."
"Hey, Eric. How are you doing?"
"I'm doing well, thank you for asking. We have some business to talk about. Maybe in another room?"
"Actually, now isn't a good time to talk. I have to leave soon. I don't have time to chat now."
"Whatever it is can wait," He pushes me into a corner and leans close.
"Don't make me cause a scene in here over this shit because I will. It's your fault that you're in this situation."
"What the hell are you talking about, Eric?" I gag at the smell of alcohol on his breath.
"Don't play stupid with me, Evangeline," I roll my eyes.
"I'm not playing stupid. I have no fucking idea what you're talking about. Now get your hand off me, or I'll make you."
"Is everything okay over here?" I look over at Mr. Winters with his hands in his pockets. I see Eric doesn't look back to see who it is.
"Yes. We're fine over here. Why don't you mind your business," I swallow the lump in my throat at Eric's comment.
"Oh, my business is this party. You showing up uninvited and threatening my friend is a sensible way to get kicked out," I see Eric roll his eyes.
"Listen, dude. I don't care who the hell you are, but this is my building. I can show up to a party anytime I want," Eric turns around and looks at Mr. Winters. Eric's face turns white.
"You were saying, Eric?"
"Mr. Winters. I... I didn't know," I see Mr. Winters walk close to Eric.
"I want you out of here now, or I will personally handle you out," His deep voice sends shivers down my spine as I see Eric panicking. I see Mr. Winters back up and straighten his suit.
"You know, Eric. I thought you were a respectful gentleman, and maybe we could have worked a business deal about your building. Considering the smell of alcohol abuse on your breath, I would throw that offer off the table to never reconsider. I'm sure the board will be surprised to hear you don't respect homeowner's privacy. You may leave now," I watch Eric scatter away, tripping and falling as he leaves.
"Thanks, but you didn't have to do that. I had it covered," I hear Mr. Winters chuckle.
"Sure you did, darling," I smile at him. I see Charlotte run up to me.
"There you are. I've been looking all over for you. What happened to your dress? I just bought it, and you've already torn it. You could at least wait a day," I see Charlotte look at Mr. Winters and me.
"Oh, hey, Mr. Winters. Nice to see you again," I see her smile at him.
"Nice to see you too, Charlotte."
"Oh, so you do know my name?"
"Of course, I know your name. Evangeline has told me so much about you, and you are my employee."
"Oh, yeah. Of course, because you and Eva talked so much about me since you two were mostly-" I punch her arm and clear my throat.
"Well, Charlotte. Mr. Winters has been nice and offered to take us to Seattle since we've already missed our flight."
"Really? That's so cool!"
"I'll meet you two in the parking lot."
"Okay. We'll see you there," I watch as Mr. Winters leaves the apartment.
"So, did you have to fuck him to get us a ride to Seattle?" I roll my eyes.
"No, I didn't," I start walking towards the door, and Charlotte follows me.
"So, what did you have to do?"
"He actually offered it to me," I see Evan, and he walks towards me.
"Going so soon?"
"Yeah, sorry. We have to catch our flight. It leaves in thirty minutes."
"It's okay. There's no need to apologize. Did everything go okay with Mr. Winters?"
"Yeah. It went okay. We better get going before we miss our flight."
"Okay. I'll see you two when you get back. I hope you guys enjoyed the party," Me and Charlotte walk out of Evan's apartment and into mine.
I change into sweatpants and a baggy shirt.
"Charlotte, are you ready?" I see her walk out of the bedroom wearing a pink dress.
"What the hell are you wearing?"
"I could ask you the same thing. We're going on a flight. People are going to see us," I roll my eyes.
"Well, duh. That's why I'm wearing something comfortable. We're going to be on a flight for hours. Why the hell are you wearing a dress."
"To be pretty, duh," I roll my eyes.
I grab my suitcase, head out the door, and towards the elevator. I see Charlotte enter the elevator after me, and the door closes.
"Did you see Mr. Winters rip a new one on Eric? He was so scared."
"Mr. Winters ripped someone, and I wasn't there? Damn, I've only heard rumors about it. Well, it's about time someone rips a new one in Eric. He deserves it," I laugh.
The elevator doors open, and we walk out.
"So, where is he?"
"I don't know. Maybe Mr. Winters's late," I look at my phone for the time.
"Is that him," I see Charlotte pointing at a blue sports car driving towards us. I see Mr. Winters rolling down the window.
"You ready to go?" I roll my eyes, and I open the door for Charlotte.
Mr. Winters folds the passenger seat, and I push Charlotte in the back. I grab her suitcase and hand it to her. I fix the seat to normal and sit down, cuddling with my suitcase. I close the door, and Mr. Winters speeds off.
