Chapter 74: Never Change

A Warehouse Full of Memories || BTS x ReaderWords: 22049

Jung Hoseok

It's been about a month since Hoseok has proposed to you. The two of you were extremely lovey dovey after it happened. It would have made Hyosung unnie sick if she were still single. She luckily has her own boyfriend, Hyungseong, so she can't get too disturbed! She was extremely happy for you though and your parents were ecstatic to bring Hoseok into the family. He could finally have one of his own that felt right. Hoseok didn't want parents who would spend money like no tomorrow to keep up a reputation built on lies. The only person he truly liked of his family were Haeun and his aunt. His little sister was definitely coming over to the wedding! You don't care if she lives in the next town over, you'll drive her here if you have to. Anything for Hoseok.

He easily became your entire world. It was still embarrassing when you looked back. Namjoon did his best to help you get Hoseok, but then it just ended with you shouting you loved Hoseok in the salon he works at. Well, that worked! So you can't hate it too much. You're just so glad that this relationship was going successfully. That was more than you could have ever asked for. You never thought that you would be meeting your future husband when entering SuChin. Then alongside with him, you gained life long friends. A family. They all meant so much to you and because of that, they were all the first to hear about the engagement!

Namjoon was the only one aware that Hoseok was planning to propose. He hugged the both of you but was proud of his friend for getting the courage to go down on one knee. Apparently Hoseok had been pretty anxious about it. Everything leading up to the trip was Hoseok asking Namjoon what to do if something goes wrong. He was so worried that you would say no or that your parents wouldn't accept him. That or he would forget the box or somehow have the box, but the ring vanished. Namjoon admitted that he's never seen Hoseok that nervous before. That automatically got you to shower Hoseok in affection. Of course, you would say yes no matter what. He can relax. You're his and only his.

The others all had their own reactions to it. Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook were rooting for you so much. The moment they heard you were engaged, all three of them rushed to pick you up and lift you in the air. It was mainly Taehyung and Jungkook. After a while, Jimin told them to put you down carefully since you looked a little scared. It's a good thing he noticed because your eyes were so wide from fear of getting dropped. Either way, those three were happy for you as always. Your lovely friends who you had the closest bond to from being the same grade as them.

Then there was Yoongi who didn't say much. He only patted both of your shoulders, giving the two of you a small smile. He was happy for the two of you as well. Lastly, Seokjin had quite the reaction. He was the loudest one to your surprise. It took him a while to calm down after you guys told him. He then outright demanded to be Hoseok's best man. You couldn't say were surprised by how bold he was being, but Namjoon was having none of it. Right away he told the eldest that it was never going to happen and that Hoseok already planned for him to be the best man anyway. There was a lot more shouting than you anticipated that day.

It was alright though. You're used to how loud and crazy those boys can get. The only thing that you were worrying yourself with was wedding preparations. You really thought it was going to be an exciting process to figure it all out with Hoseok except the two of you can't seem to agree on anything. That was irritating you more than you would have liked. It felt like the both of you were settling for a lot of things rather than enjoying your wedding to the fullest. Hoseok took another day off from the salon just to finally hash things out about the wedding for once and for all. The two of you were equally getting tired about it together.

"I think a big wedding would be cute. I'm not saying expensive and showy, but with everyone like our family, friends—" You said your part as Hoseok sighed, placing a hand on his light brown hair.

"But that's the thing, (F/n). If there's a lot of people then it'll be expensive." Hoseok frowned. "I really feel cautious around money...I know I got a lot saved up, but I think a small wedding would be better. The immediate family we like and the gang."

"So you really won't even invite Ms. Moon to your wedding? Ms. Kim!" You raised a brow as he looked to the side nervously. Slowly, Hoseok brought his hand down to the collar of his shirt to air himself out. He was sweating just at the thought of telling Ms. Moon that she wasn't invited to the wedding. His boss could still be pretty terrifying and his close relationship with Namjoon's mom was also something to take into consideration.

"Ms. Moon...well, I guess those two will fall under the family category. The only family I want there are my sister and Imo plus the guys." Hoseok shrugged.

"Are you sure you want a small wedding? Or is that you just don't have a lot of people you want to invite?" You asked to see him sigh.

"I also think we should be careful about our budget." Hoseok leaned back in his seat, watching you stare down at the list of things to take care of. It genuinely felt like nothing would get done at all today. Anytime you would make an effort, Hoseok would shut you down. You'll settle for less people at the wedding though you don't believe Hoseok in letting himself relax with this. Hoseok has always been stressed about money. It's something he's had to grow up fighting for. Now that you knew about Hoseok's past and how it made him into who he is today, you understand that it's hard for him to spend a lot of money. He's extremely careful about it, but you want him to let go of that fear. It's okay to spend money for his own wedding! You really felt like Hoseok would make the wedding feel like a cheap celebration.

Hoseok saw the look on your face and knew right away that you weren't too pleased with him. Another sigh left his lips as he looked at the wall across from him. He was currently sitting on the couch while you were at the kitchen table. The two of you lived together in the cramped apartment that you used to share with unnie. Getting privacy could be a little hard and that was a struggle when the two of you needed a minute to recollect your thoughts. You didn't want Hoseok to get upset and he didn't want the same for you. Planning weddings in general were just frustrating. This wasn't as exciting or as fun as you had hoped. That was just wishful thinking.

"We can talk about this later." Hoseok got up from his seat. Your brows jumped at his words, looking at him in worry. He walked over to you to place his hand on your back. He rubbed it gently before pecking your lips. "Let's take some more time to think about it."

"But this is the second day you've told Ms. Moon you can't come into work. That's not right, Hoseok." You frowned as he gave you another peck on the lips.

"Don't worry about it. We'll have time when I get a day off," Hoseok said as you opened your mouth to say something else. Hoseok only ended up pressing his lips against yours again. He chuckled at your surprise before pulling away to wink at you. "I'll get going."

"Where are you going?" You watched him turn around to put on a jacket. He went to the door, putting on his shoes as he looked at you over his shoulder.

"For some fresh air."

That was all he said as he left the apartment. The door shut, leaving you in complete silence. This wasn't exactly sitting well with you. Fresh air? Where was he going? Did you make him mad? A groan left you as you kicked your head back. You wanted to know where he was going, but it was best for you to focus on yourself for a moment. This is all just about the wedding in the first place. Hoseok loves you and you love him so much too. You certainly did not chase after him for years for nothing. This wedding was going to happen and work itself out. After all, you believed in your relationship with Hoseok. The two of you have had disagreements like now, but never full on fights. It was a healthy relationship that could last a lifetime. You wanted that with him and you knew you could get that with him.

The only thing was that you needed to figure out your wedding. Maybe you don't need to invite every person who's been nice to you. That was reasonable. Only close family and friends for you then. Though you knew the wedding could be beautiful even if Hoseok didn't want to spend too much. He just needs to give you a reasonable budget to work around because almost nothing was cheap when it came to weddings. Standing up from your chair, you rushed to grab your phone and call the few people you knew would help sort things out. If you couldn't yourself then these people knew it all. Sort of. Sometimes no work would get done at all...like now.

"Do you want me to just beat him up?" Jungkook suggested.

"Seriously, Jungkook?" Jimin frowned at him.

"Not like to a pulp, but just like...roughen him up a little. I don't know." Jungkook shrugged.

"No hurting our hyung." Taehyung kicked Jungkook with his foot, shoving him off the couch. The maknae was quick to growl at Taehyung who couldn't care less. He felt the shove was well deserved.

"Guys, listen. This is really important and no harming Hoseokie. Got that?" You pointed a finger at Jungkook who nodded. He held his hands up in surrender, staying on the floor while Jimin and Taehyung sat on the couch.

This was your team of backup for whenever you felt like you had a problem. Naturally you would call your closest friends over to help you out. It just felt strange since they knew Hoseok before you and were closer with him than you. It definitely felt like that at times. Jimin was the main one trying to stay on task as expected. Taehyung easily got distracted and Jungkook wanted to solve the problem right away, but only his way. His ways weren't exactly the best. Not what you were looking for at the moment so you were open to more brain storming.

"Hoseok keeps running away from the conversation?" Jimin picked up where you left off.

"Yes." You pursed your lips. "Honestly, all I need from him is a budget. I'll work with it."

"He'll make the budget thirty dollars if he's generous." Taehyung chuckled, getting elbowed by Jimin. He grunted at the sudden attack. His joke was of poor taste, but you didn't know if violence was the right way to handle it. Taehyung huffed, keeping his arms tightly wrapped around his stomach in order to protect himself from his friend. "I was just saying!"

"How about this? Five thousand?" Jungkook suggested as you shrugged.

"I would still need to talk to Hoseok about that and get his approval. There's so much that goes into a wedding that it's impossible to get anything done without knowing how much I'm allowed to spend." You kicked the ground.

"That's not fair." Jimin sympathized. "We can try talking to hyung. That might work."

"Only for him to ignore us or tell us that it's none of our business," Jungkook remarked. He ruffled up his hair, looking over at you with a frown. "We don't want to get you in trouble." You smiled softly at him. You really appreciated how much thought they were putting into this for you. They may joke around sometimes, but they genuinely cared. It was for you and Hoseok after all. Jimin and Taehyung nodded along to what Jungkook had to say. None of them wanted to cause problems in your relationship with Hoseok. That was completely understandable. It just sucked how careful you had to be with dealing with this.

"We just need Hoseok hyung to talk to you, right?" Taehyung tilted his head as you nodded. "Then how about this plan? Jimin, Jungkook, and I will lure him out and trap him. Hold him down if we have to and force the two of you to be alone so you talk about it!"

"Force?" You blinked at him.

"I think that's worth a shot." Jungkook snapped his fingers as Jimin let out a heavy sigh.

"I'm assuming I have no choice in this." Jimin let his head hang down.

"Aw, don't say that! This if for (F/n), Jiminie!" Taehyung laughed, wrapping an arm around Jimin's shoulders.

Jimin has no say in this? It felt like they were all going through with this plan without your opinion. Even if you told them it was a bad idea which you did, they didn't listen. This was giving you major flashbacks to when the boys planned to bring you back to the warehouse and get Hoseok away from you guys. He was babysitting all of you intensely. It was funny now looking back. He was the closest hyung to the boys when all of you were first years in general. Years later, it felt like history was almost going to repeat itself. Except it was bringing Hoseok over to you against his will. They were all ready to go with the plan as they dragged you out of your apartment.

Hoseok was completely unaware of the plan that the young ones were coming up with. He actually was trying to deal with this on his own. At least in his own way. Hoseok drove to the porridge restaurant that Namjoon always loved. He called friends to help him with his current situation. There he sat down and ate food, explaining everything that had occurred to his friend and hyungs. They all listened intently to what he had to say. Hoseok was hoping that his hyungs would be able to give him some logical advice. Anything would do. Then Namjoon was pretty mature, so Hoseok could always count on this guy to get him out of his problems.

"I think you should just do what (F/n) wants." Yoongi's lips thinned.

"But that's not what he wants." Seokjin rolled his eyes. "I swear!"

"I was just saying—"

"I'm not done! Eat your food." Seokjin shot a glare at Yoongi who rolled his eyes. Still, Yoongi listened and shoved a spoon in his mouth. Anything to stop him from throwing his porridge into Seokjin's face. This was about Hoseok after all. "Hoseok, a wedding should be what (F/n) and you both want. You're just making it impossible for the poor girl."

"What? Really, me?" Hoseok whined.

"I agree with Hyung that the wedding should be an equal part on the both of you, but I understand where you're coming from." Namjoon placed his hand on Hoseok's shoulder. Hoseok sighed as he realized he was only getting mixed signals from these guys. Yoongi who would rather go with what you wanted, Namjoon with him, and Seokjin who was preaching his own stuff.

"Yah, shut your mouth and eat your food." Seokjin glared at Namjoon. The male furrowed his brows, confused on what he said that was wrong. Seokjin looked back over at Hoseok, placing a hand on his chest. "None of these children know what they're saying so listen closely to me, Hoseok." Seokjin leaned over the table, closer to Hoseok who felt tempted to hide behind Namjoon. Yoongi continued to shake his head next to his friend. "Why don't you suck it up and be a man? Go to (F/n), tell her what you absolutely won't bend on and then work with what she wants. I know you're nervous around money, but if (F/n) wants a dress that costs a thousand dollars or a venue that's a little pricey, get over it."

"G-Get over it?" Hoseok winced.

"He's being an @sshole, but he's sort of right." Yoongi shrugged.

"For once, Seokjin hyung is the @sshole and not Yoongi hyung." Namjoon chuckled, getting a glare from both of them.

"Hmm...I guess I have to face my fears and just compromise." Hoseok sighed heavily to himself. He leaned back in the red booth, staring up at the cream colored ceiling.

Spending money wasn't his favorite thing. He saved like crazy due to how wildly his parents spent it every time money came near their way. Saving money was just his way of attempting to protect you just like his little sister. Whenever something important actually needed to be bought, there wasn't enough money to get it. That's why Hoseok hardly goes shopping. He had to let his guard down a little bit though. He knows he has more than enough money to pay for a reasonably priced wedding. Plus, when the time comes to have children with you, he knows that will also come with a price. He's saved long enough. Might as well spend just a little.

Hoseok finally arrived to his conclusion about the situation. Just as he was about to tell the guys about it, he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. Was it you? He took it out of his pocket, raising a brow to see it was Jimin asking him where he was. Next thing he knows, Jimin is sending him a bunch of texts to hang out. They didn't sound like his Jiminie. Something felt off with how pushy they were. It almost came across as Taehyung, but he didn't question it too much. He looked over at Namjoon before staring at the others. They stared at him as Hoseok texted back that he was at the porridge restaurant. All he got in return was a thumbs up emoji.

"Looks like Jimin is gonna be joining us," was all Hoseok said. He didn't think it was a big deal.

Namjoon didn't mind compared to Seokjin and Yoongi who gave Hoseok a look. What? What did he do wrong this time that he needs to be lectured by these old farts? The two were on the same page as they mentioned how Hoseok should have put it off or denied him. They were in the middle of talking about important business. To be fair, Hoseok thought they were done and he didn't understand why he couldn't bring it up with Jimin. That again only got the two eldest to scoff. Somehow they suddenly knew everything. Hoseok huffed to himself when he got another text from Jimin. He's outside. Already? Hoseok looked over his shoulder, getting up from his seat.

"Where you going?" Yoongi called after him.

"Yah! Listen to your elders!" Seokjin began spewing nonsense as he always did when he was outraged. Namjoon felt embarrassed, his ears red as he bowed apologetically to the staff and patrons around him. He was unfortunately abandoned by Hoseok who he wished desperately would come back.

Hoseok stepped out of the restaurant, looking at his messages to make sure he read that right. Jimin said he would be outside so where is he? There was no one standing outside. Hoseok took a few steps away from the restaurant, staring back down at his phone. He was getting ready to send a text to Jimin when he was suddenly kicked in the back of his knees. The male gasped, dropping his phone on the ground as he caught himself on the ground. What the hell? Before Hoseok had time to react, his phone was scooped up and his arms were held back. Hoseok's eyes were wide when he noticed Taehyung holding his phone.

"What the f*ck, Taehyung!?" Hoseok shouted.

"This is for your own good," Jungkook's voice said behind him. Jungkook finished tying the rope around Hoseok's wrists.

"This has to be a joke." Hoseok closed his eyes.

"Sorry, Hyung." Jimin showed up as they all crouched down to pick him up. Hoseok kicked his legs around, yelling at them. It was a bit of a struggle with Jungkook holding his legs tightly while Jimin and Taehyung held up his upper body. He didn't understand why he was being taken away like this. Hoseok gritted his teeth, looking at the window of the porridge restaurant to make direct eye contact with Namjoon and his hyungs. Their mouths were wide open before they began to run out.

"Oh, sh*t! They're on us! Run!" Taehyung shouted. Hoseok screamed out of fear as they ran while carrying him. He didn't trust them one bit.

"Don't make me run!" Yoongi growled.

"Let him go!" Seokjin yelled.

"What are you all doing!?" Namjoon felt his eye twitch. This was making him close to popping a vein. It only brought back memories to when they were younger. They haven't acted this idiotic in a long time. All of them were running as fast as they could. Surprisingly the young ones could go pretty far carrying Hoseok. They turned a corner when they saw you. Hoseok finally stopped struggling as the boys slowed down, putting him down in front of you. They were all smiling compared to you who stared at the rope around Hoseok's wrists. You then went on your toes to look behind Hoseok to see the elder ones panting heavily, bewildered with everything that was going on.

"I told you no rope." You sighed.

"We had to work fast." Jungkook shrugged.

"We couldn't have him moving around too much, (F/n)." Jimin gave you an apologetic smile.

"Kidnapping me in broad daylight, really?" Hoseok huffed at the boys before looking at you. "Y-You wanted to see me?"

"Honestly, I don't know why this happened. I just wanted to tell you that I would work with whatever budget you gave me," You stated as he took a step closer to you.

"Really? I was going to tell you that it's okay if you want to spend a little more. I'm okay with it." Hoseok kissed your forehead. You giggled happily at him, feeling your heart swell with love. No matter how the wedding goes, you'll be happy just to marry this man. Jung Hoseok owns your entire heart. The plan had miraculously worked in its own strange way. It inflated Taehyung's ego and Jungkook felt proud of himself for being a part of this. He'll give a speech about this very moment at the wedding. Jimin sighed, hoping this would be the last time they ever do something like this.

While the two of you were lost in your own world, the young ones were suddenly tapped on their shoulders. They had completely forgotten that they were chased over by their hyungs. Those three weren't as charmed by what happened seeing as Hoseok still had his arms tied behind his back. The young ones tensed up and turned around to face each of their hyungs head on. Run. Taehyung tried to runaway only for Namjoon to jump him. His attempt was genuine, but Namjoon was quick to get him. He scolded the boy like a child and Taehyung was faking his sobs. Then Jungkook was getting intimidated by Yoongi, too scared to run off. He thought about fighting Yoongi but he also didn't want to hurt any of his hyungs. That left him in a tight spot. Next thing he knows, Yoongi is scowling at him as he gets cornered. Jimin was already bowing to Seokjin, apologizing for everything that they did. Somethings never change.
