"I hate this." Agent Fowler groaned, tipping a bottle of beer into his mouth before slamming it down onto the ground. I was snickering by his side, adding salt to the wound.
"You know, we shouldn't be here AND you shouldn't be drinking while on work." I said, smirking at my colleague. We were currently at an empty stairway and the man was drinking beer, when it is only 2 in the afternoon. He rolled his eyes and nudged my ribs before letting out another groan, pulling a long face.
"What crawled up your ass and died today?" I joked, slapping his shoulders and snatched the liquor away from him. Agent Fowler huffed, trying to take back the bottle but I held it far away.
"Our boss isn't gonna be happy with a drunk Bill, ya know?" I said, cocking an eyebrow at the man.
"Damn it! I needed that!" he whined, rubbing his eyes tiredly. I sighed dramatically before leaning close to my friend, wondering what got him so riled up.
"Spill it. You've been in this shitty mood for the past week. What pissed you off so bad to have you break the rules, mister?" I said, pulling his chin close as I narrowed my eyes on him. Agent Fowler scowled and slapped my hands away.
"None of you-"
"I dare you to finish the damn sentence. You called me up here to watch you drink. What the fuck is that suppose to mean?" I said, turning serious. Agent Fowler went quiet for a moment before shaking his head in denial.
"It's sensitive information, highly classified."
"Yet here you are, seeking for my company. I'm pretty sure I can keep a secret or two, genius."
"Commander Bryce will kill me."
"So, it's gotta do with work?" I raised an eyebrow at the middle-aged man. His job was dealing with some...weird stuff. I was a field agent, freestyled and handled many odd cases.
Odd, really odd types.
"Okay then, I'm following you then. After all, you did call for an assistant right? I'll talk to Mr. Bryce."
"Wait- (Y/N) NO!"
You jumped away from him and sprinted off to find your boss. Agent Fowler stood awkwardly on the staircase, groaning even louder within his palms as he realised, he had screwed up, badly.
"(Y/N), you son of a bitch! That's not what I meant by best friend support!"
---
After getting the clearance from Commander Bryce, you were beaming brightly as you hopped along Fowler's side, swinging from side to side. You were excited to be teaming up with your best friend after all. You were making your merry way up to the helipad with Agent Fowler, though the latter seemed more tensed than anything.
"Wow, we're taking the copter?" I asked, surprised.
"You can still cut this deal right now and I wouldn't even blame you."
"Nope." I grinned, saluting him childishly.
The two of you met last year and you hit it off almost immediately. He looked after you like his little sister and you took great care on teasing him, but he knew you mean well. You don't often meet up in the same place but you would make time for the man as much as he would for you.
Simply put, you two were the perfect non-romantic couple, ever.
"(Y/N), I need to tell you something." Fowler said, gripping your shoulders. I sighed and nodded, knowing that he was in one of his stern brother moods again.
"Look, the place you're going...it's not...normal."
"Wow. Big surprise. Really big." I said, giving him a flat look. Agent Fowler sputtered before scratching his head in frustration, not knowing how to phrase his words.
"I give up! Don't say I didn't warn ya. Don't go passing out or come crying when you can't handle this." he said, starting up the helicopter. I rolled my eyes, plopping an arm up on the hand rest as we made our way from Pentagon. Our journey was quick but silent, the guy being all worried while me on the other hand, I was thrilled if anything!
I mean, if whatever Fowler's dealing with got him so pissed off, it must be really shitty...or really AMAZING and I'm absolutely missing out on the fun!
I choose to believe it is the latter.
A flat hill came to the picture and Fowler starting lowering down. I stared at the scene, not believing that our workplace is a dusty barren valley. This got him so mad?
Hey, I would be too if I was assigned to this humid area!
"We're here." He said, shutting off the engines. I got out from the helicopter with ease, following him quietly as he pressed a button...wait, where the hell that came from?
My train of thought was broken when the elevator gate opened. Agent Fowler ushered me in and I played along, curiosity getting the best of me. We were descending down and my stomach was churning, excitement barely able to be contained.
"Ready?" he asked. I smirked, tilting my head up to the man with a nonchalant look, but I was anything but calm on the inside.
"Sure." I said. The door opened and I was met with...a base.
Huh. So this is where the magic happens...quaint.
I raised my eyebrow at the man beside me only to realise that he had already made his way onto the railing, shouting on top of his lungs for...Prime?
Wow, cool name!
"PRIME! PRIME!" He yelled. I swiftly went to his side, tapping his shoulders.
"You know, you don't have to shout right? The base is quite hollow, I'm sure this Prime guy can hear you just fine." I said, sighing a little.
"She's not wrong." A voice spoke out. I turned my head to see an orange and white bot who was currently typing on a very high-tech looking computer.
And he's fucking ENORMOUS!
"Woah..." I gasped in admiration, taking in his features. He gave me a glance before nodding, though his face does seem quite...grumpy.
A few other robots came out to the main hangar. There was a blue and pink bot who seemed really badass and I have a hunch that it is a she. She does have a feminine look after all. The yellow and black one stared at me equal fascination before giving me a quick wave, buzzing in reply.
:-Oh, a new human!-: he said, tilting his helm sideways.
Aww, he's so cute!
I waved back, nodding a little as I replied to the little curious bot.
"Yep, new gal in town!" I grinned. My happiness was short-lived when the base suddenly went silent, everyone staring at me with shocked looks.
"How in all 50 states of 'Merica are you able to understand him!?" Agent Fowler yelled, staring at me as I've grown another head. I raised an eyebrow and pouted, not liking his tone.
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean? He was speaking nicely, was he not?" I said, gesturing to the bot.
"Uh, I think he means that usually humans aren't able to understand Bee's words." An olive green mech said, scratching his head.
"Usually. It implies that someone else can understand him but not all. So, who's the other lucky guy?" I said, catching on to the mech's words quick and narrowed my eyes on him. His eyes shot up, taking a step back. His mouth opened wide, gaping at me.
"U-Uh..." he stammered, not knowing how to answer. I broke my character and laughed, feeling bad for the bot.
"I'm sorry, I was joking. Don't be scared." I said, though by his body language, there was indeed another human capable of understanding Bee's words.
Bee, huh? Well, he does have a similar colour to a bumblebee.
A pair of loud, thunderous footsteps caught me off guard as I stumbled around to get an equal footing. I grasped tightly on the railing, catching myself. Looking up, I was like a deer in the headlights as I saw this giant 30 feet mech looking down at me with a silent judgement behind his eyes. I stood up straight, feeling a little self-conscious at the robot before me. He had an air of authority and his optics shone with wisdom and tranquillity.
Brushing my hair behind my ears, I raised my hands and greeted the...Prime, I think.
"Hello! I take it that you're the Prime Agent Fowler was looking for?" I said. He nodded, sending me a miniscule smile as he spoke.
"Greetings, little one. Indeed, your statement is correct. My name is Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots. This is my-"
"Save it, Prime! I came here to discuss with you, not to be having an ice-breaking session with (Y/N)!" Agent Fowler snapped, cutting off Optimus's words. I slapped his shoulders, tilting my head at him incredulously as I chewed him out.
"Hey! That's no way to speak at our guest!" I chided, setting my hands on my hips.
"What guest!? He's our-"
"No, he's our guest! I'll make a deduction here, alright? Since YOUR department deals with extra-terrestrial and weird phenomena, I can only assume that LOGICALLY speaking, they aren't from Earth. And thus, I conclude that they are our guest, because they are from OUTER SPACE!" I said, clapping my hands together. Agent Fowler was about to speak up again when I wagged my pointer finger at him, cutting him off.
"Besides, even if they are NOT our guests, you shouldn't be mean to him! I mean- come on! Respect, remember? It kinda makes us, the most intelligent organics, look stupid with our arrogance, you know?" I said, glaring at the man. Agent Fowler gulped, taking a step back with his hands raised in defeat.
"F-Fine, fine! Sorry Prime, didn't mean to hurt ya feelings!" he said, begrudgingly apologising to Optimus.
"It's quite alright." Optimus replied, waving his hands.
I nodded in satisfaction, smiling proudly at the steaming man.
"I knew it was a bad idea to bring you here." He growled.
"Oh, is that so? Who was the one-"
"Okay, okay! Sorry!" he caved in, grasping my arms. I smirked at the man, knowing that I had won this argument.
"Woah..." a young teenager spoke. She had a pigtail hairstyle with pink highlights. Behind her, two more figures stepped out. One was a small boy and another was an older...boy. Well, they are still kids and considered as minors.
What are they doing here?
"Ah, I am correct then about my earlier statement. So, who's the one that understands Bee?" I said, not bothered by Agent Fowler's glare. Those never worked on me and never will. Mine, on the other hand, works like a charm.
Agent Fowler should really do some practice with his intimidating looks, those are but a docile kitten glare, in my opinion.
"I am..." the smallest one spoke up timidly, pushing up his glasses. I smiled and hopped off the railing, landing to the ground with a ten out of ten front-flip. Walking towards the young child, I bent down to look at his figure before smiling, ruffling his hair and spoke.
"Well, I guess we're the special ones now, are we? What's your name, pumpkin?" I snickered. He chuckled, nodding along.
"I'm Raf. You're so cool and sweet."
"Aww, thank you-"
"THAT'S SO COOL HOW DID YOU DO THAT!?" the young lady from earlier screamed, jumping up and down with excitement. I smiled at Raf one more time before turning my gaze at the Asian teen. Laughing, I winked at the boisterous girl and replied.
"Well sweety, I'm a highly trained agent... unlike SOMEONE there without manners-"
"I CAN HEAR YOU CLEARLY, (Y/N)!"
"THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT, DIPSHIT!" I snapped, accidentally cursing in front of the kids. Turning back to them, I smiled apologetically.
"Sorry, it slipped." I said, particularly towards the small boy. The oldest of the human gang spoke up, hesitancy evident in his eyes and body posture.
"U-Uh, a-are you going to...lock us up or something? Was there something wrong for you uh- ma'am- to c-come down and meet the team?" he asked. I stood tall and eyed him down, taking in his stature.
"Oh? Are you guilty of something, young boy?" I said, crossing my arms in front of me. The poor kid stumbled on his words as he tried to cover up his awkward state.
"N-No! W-Why- I mean- w-what? No-No! I-I pfft- why-"
"Please, save your speech. I'm not taking y'all anywhere, but I do have some questions on my mind... how are you guys involved in this...AND WHY THE HELL DID YOU LET ME JOIN EARLIER, WILLIAM!?" I growled, turning my attention to the African-American man. Agent Fowler stopped in his tracks as he saw me climbing up the stairs furiously.
"N-Now hold on-"
"To hell I'll hold on, idiot! What the crap? I thought I was your friend!? How the hell they got involved and I don't?!" I hissed, gripping his collar as I shake him violently. The team watched as I pried out answer from the man.
"Damn, she's a good asset to the team. Someone finally puts Agent Fowler in his place." Miko snickered.
"I can hear you- ACK!"
"EYES ON ME, GENIUS!"
"SORRY! BUT H-HANG ON-" Agent Fowler struggled away from my grip, dropping onto the floor and catching his breath.
"L-Look, they weren't supposed to be involved, but they were! That's the only reason, I swear!" Agent Fowler cried out, backing away. I stood there for a moment before sighing.
Well, his body language says that he's not lying. Agent Fowler sucked at lying, after all...at least, towards me.
"Fine..." I said, stretching my arms before giving him a lift. He picked himself off the floor and dusted his coat, grumbling in his breath.
"I just got these..."
"Shut up, you wore those last week. I know that because it's the same damn tag, look behind the coat." I said, pointing at the collar tag. Agent Fowler clicked his tongue in annoyance, brushing my hands away.
"I hate you."
"Sure, sure." I said. Turning towards the team, I sent them a toothy grin, all but ignoring earlier commotion as I introduced myself to them.
"Hiya! The name's (Y/N)!" I said. The blue and pink bot sauntered forward and greeted back, waving her arms lazily.
"Hey, the name's Arcee. You're quite the femme, I must say." She said. I grinned and bowed, acknowledging her praise.
"Why, thank you dear. I believe you're just as amazing if not more, sweetheart." I winked. The yellow bot earlier spoke, waving eagerly at me.
Aww, how cute!
:- The name's Bumblebee, but you can call me Bee! Thanks for understanding me!-: he beeped. I tipped an imaginary hat at him.
"You're certainly most welcome, dear!" I said, laughing a little. The olive green one was next, lifting up his large servos as he greeted me.
"Hello, I'm Bulkhead. This is Miko, my charge." He said, gently lifting the teen girl up. She was waving too.
"Hey, nice to meet ya! So y'all are assigned to look after them?" I asked, sitting on top of the railing, swinging my legs. Optimus caught sight of my actions and gently placed me on his hands, worry etched on his face.
"That's dangerous, (Y/N). You may fall and hurt yourself." He said, setting me down to the ground.
Did I mention that he has a damn AMAZING VOICE!? Because those deep vocals of his are a serious charm! Damn, he's a kickass leader alright!!
I like this one, I'm protective of him now. No one touches him or looks at him the wrong way or feel my wrath! I've decided that I want him as my guardian, that's it. Not taking no for an answer. NOPE.
Casting a sheepish smile to the Prime, I glared at Agent Fowler.
"Hey, big OP is mine now! You pick on him and I'll kick your ass, Fowler!" I said, firm on my words. Agent Fowler looked at me incredulously, eyes nearly popping out of his sockets.
"What the hell is that suppose to mean!? I thought we're partners!"
"I thought so too, until you hid this amazing ass faction from me, young man!"
"I'M OLDER THAN YOU!"
"YOU CRY OVER SHITTY ROMANCE MOVIES, FOWLER!"
"DON'T BRING THOSE UP, (Y/N)! YOU'RE NO BETTER, NERD! YOU LITERALLY TOOK A DAY-OFF TO MOURN FOR SHERLOCK'S DEATH, YOU SLAGGER!"
"SHUT UP! HE DESERVEs MY ATTENTION!" I growled, running back up again to pound the hell out of Agent Fowler. My plans were thwarted when a large hand blocked my path, the owner of it was none other than Optimus.
"Please, don't fight?" he said, eyes shining with plea. My heart melted and I nodded, relenting.
"Hmph, fineee." I dragged my words dramatically. I stuck a tongue out at Agent Fowler, to which he replied with the same gesture too.
"Wow, real mature guys." The older teen said. I snickered, shrugging my shoulders at him.
"Hey, I never said that I was an adult to begin with. What's your name, kid?" I giggled.
"Jackson Darby, but just call me Jack please." He said, smirking right back. My smile dropped as I looked back and forth at him and Optimus. Narrowing my eyes, I've found that the resemblance to the both males are UNCANNY.
"What?" the two subjects said in unison.
Turning towards the orange and white medic, I did the same with him and he raised an eyebrow at me.
"What?"
"Don't you think Jack and Optimus look alike?"
"We don't." the two said together, again.
"See?" I replied, glancing up at the bot. He went silent for a moment, putting his hands on his chin before nodding along, agreeing to my words.
"You're right. They slouch the same posture and both of them are awkward...at least, right now." He said, before turning back. He perked up and gave me a sideways glance as he spoke. "By the way, the name's Ratchet." He said.
"I'm not awkward!" Jack huffed. Miko and Raf were giggling which made the boy blushed even more.
"I'm...awkward?" Optimus said, his words coming off a bit sad. The Prime was...pouting?
"Awww! Don't be sad, big guy! You're still my favourite!" I said, running towards his feet. Optimus bent down and picked me up, lifting me towards his face.
"So...you're my human now?"
"Yes!"
"Well...Am I awkward?"
"Nope! You're the cutest, besides Bumblebee of course!" I said, patting his black fingers. Optimus pondered for a moment and broke out into an amused smile.
"Hmm, good." He said, setting me back on the railing. Fowler rolled his eyes and spoke up.
"Well, we didn't come here to have fun! Like I said earlier-"
"Oh, will you look at that!? The chapter's too long! Okay, bye-bye! See y'all next time!"
"(Y/N)! WE NEEDED THAT FOURTH WALL!"

"I needed that..." Enigma grumbled, patching up the fourth wall with duct tape. Wiping the sweat from her forehead, Enigma growled.
"Thank you very much for this."
