âNo, I have to leave the country now!â Rayna shoved him away as tears streamed down her cheeks. âYatran is a big country. She didnât bring anything with her and had lost contact with you for so long. She must be struggling there!â
I thought Jessie would be fine there as it was Jeffersonâs territory. I canât believe she went missing there!
Jefferson pulled her into his arms and comforted her in a low voice, âBelle, take a deep breath. Sheâll be okay. My men made a mistake, so I share the blame for her disappearance. I understand your concern for her as a close friend, but you must also take care of yourself. Arnaudâs people are in Yartran. If you go to the airport, they will find out instantly and set a trap for you.â
âBut I canât ignore Jessie,â Rayna replied in a hoarse voice, her eyes turning red. âShe disappeared for so long, and you couldnât find her at all. How can I not be worried?â
Jefferson said reassuringly. âDonât worry. Ringo checked the underground circles, and there was no sign of Jessica. She must be somewhere in Yartran. Sheâll be okay.â
Despite that, Rayna didnât cheer up.
Yartran was a big country with dozens of cities. Jessica didnât have any money, so it would be difficult for her to survive there.
âIâll fake an identity and sneak there,â Rayna suggested, for she was still worried. âI want to search for her personally.â
Right then, someone knocked at the door of the CEOâs office.
âMr. Hamilton, Ms. Garland.â Ella opened the door and came in. âMs. Garland, Mr. Lopez from Lopez Group wants to see you.â
Rayna frowned. âAre you talking about Wyatt Lopez?â
âYes. Heâs in the reception room now.â
âHe previously barged into my office. Why is he so polite today?â Rayna gritted her teeth in anger. âHow dare he show up here?â
Ella asked, âShould I tell him to visit another time as youâre busy?â
âNo need! Bring him to my office now. Letâs see what he wants to talk about,â Rayna ordered sternly.
Jefferson had also heard how Wyatt barged into Raynaâs office and acted rudely a while ago. Afraid Rayna would get hurt, he offered to keep her company. âI fear heâll hurt you and the babies.â
Rayna shook her head. âIâll be fine alone. You should go back to work. He wonât be able to step out of the front door if he dares to hit me!â
Jefferson had no choice but to comply. âIf anything crops up, call me through the internal line.â
Raynaâs eyes were swollen as she had just cried.
She went to the restroom to touch up her makeup before returning to her office. There, she saw Wyatt sitting on the couch. He seemed more subdued than usual, as if a cloud of gloom had settled over him.
When Rayna saw him staring at the ground blankly, she strode over and sneered, âMr. Lopez, why are you so polite now? I thought youâd barge into my office and hit me like what you did the previous time!â
Wyatt slowly lifted his head upon hearing her words. His expression was downcast, and it was clear that he was feeling discouraged.
Ignoring her sarcastic comment, he asked patiently, âWhere did you hide her?â
âMr. Lopez, you are a capable man, right? If you can find her the first time, why canât you find her now?â Rayna sat in the seat across from him and snorted icily. âDonât tell me youâre that useless.â
âRayna, Iâm not here to argue with you today.â Wyatt forced himself to stay calm. âI know you sent her to Yartran. Where in Yartran is she located?â
As Rayna scowled without saying a word, he added, âWhat do you want?â
âWhat do I want?â Rayna lifted her head to look at him.
She was disgusted by his haggard look and how he deliberately acted humble before her. It felt like a villain had chopped off her limbs before asking if it hurt.
Cold with fury, she grabbed the cup of hot coffee Ella had delivered earlier and threw it at Wyattâs face.
Although the coffee wasnât made with boiling water, its heat was sufficient to cause Wyattâs face to redden.
Wyatt wiped the liquid off his face and glared at Rayna as the veins on his forehead twitched.
Rayna slammed the cup back on the desk and snapped, âWyatt, why donât you ask what Jessie wants? You are the reason her family was destroyed. How dare you ask where she is?â
âDidnât she take revenge on me?â Wyatt retorted as he clenched his jaw in hatred. âI know her plan, but I endured her actions.
Instead, she aborted my baby to avenge her family and make me suffer!â
I may have inflicted pain upon her, but without me, she would have never gotten closer to her enemy. I hated her, but I never tried to harm her family!
âThatâs impossible!â Rayna hissed. âSheâd never do that. You mustâve done something to harm her for her to abort her baby.â
Wyatt snickered icily. âGetting pregnant is within her plan. Do you think she cares? I went to the hospital and watched as she aborted the baby. I couldnât be blind, could I?â
Rayna furrowed her brows.
She knew Jessica had lost her baby but didnât know how it went. Jessica didnât tell her anything about the abortion.
I talked to Jessica on the phone when she first got pregnant. She promised she wouldnât use the child to take revenge on Wyatt.
It didnât seem that she was joking, but why did she abort the baby?
Wyatt got a piece of tissue to wipe off the coffee droplets on his face and said calmly, âRayna, tell me where she is. I wonât do anything to her. All I want is to talk to her.â
âHow could you be this shameless?â Rayna let out an angry snort. âYou want her...â
Suddenly, she was hit by a wave of dizziness and quickly held her head.
Noticing she seemed off, Wyatt didnât pick a fight with her and offered, âShould I get your assistant?â
âNo need,â Rayna promptly rejected.
She sat down for some time until the uncomfortable feeling wore off before calling Jefferson to ask Jessicaâs address in Yatran.
After jotting down the address on a piece of memo paper, she tore it off and gave it to Wyatt. âYou want to talk to her, right? Go ahead!â
Rayna initially didnât want to reveal Jessicaâs address to Wyatt, but she couldnât head to Yartran personally.
She was anxious as Jeffersonâs men were unable to find Jessica, but coincidentally, Wyatt was great at tracking people down.
If he is able to find Jessica, Iâll figure out a way to snatch her from his hands.
Wyatt read the address a few times and shot Rayna a dubious look. âIs she really there?â
Rayna sneered, âYou can choose not to trust me. I offered you an opportunity, but youâre choosing to waste it!â
Wyatt remained suspicious as Rayna was cursing him a while ago but ended up giving him the address readily.
However, he had no other choice. Regardless of whether the address was false, he had to go and check it out.
Soon, Wyatt departed from Glory Corporation.
On the way to the airport, he called his company and made the arrangements at work.
However, he ran into a problem at the airport. The weather was bad, so there were fewer flights than usual. He wanted to charter a plane, but the air traffic control center refused to approve his request.
Wyatt didnât have time to seek help from others. He got his assistant to book the earliest flight to Yartran even though it meant he had to fly in economy.
An hour and a half later, Wyatt boarded the plane successfully.
He stared at the wrinkled memo paper in his hands and fell into deep thought. If I find her, I canât get mad at her or yell at her. I must calm down so we can talk in peace.
