Dear Sweetheart Chapter 150 A Wife âIn that case, your mommy is being too harsh on you.â Rayna frowned. âHaving fun is the most important thing for kids your age.
Itâll never be too late to learn those things when youâre older.â
Carl shook his head. âMy mommy says I should start young because I can learn faster. I donât find the sessions tiring. I just hope that Iâll be stronger than my daddy in the future. That way, I can see him more often.â
âIs your daddy a very busy man?â
âYes. He doesnât get many holidays.â Carl jerked his chin up slightly and said gleefully, âHowever, my mommy said heâd be coming back during the holidays. I get to celebrate the holidays with Mommy and Daddy this year!â
âThatâs great.â Rayna smiled and stroked his head lovingly.
She knew being a soldier was tough because they had little time off.
Although Rayna had only met a handful of kids before, she found it relaxing to chat with Carl. In fact, she thought he was obedient, intelligent, and knowledgeable. Therefore, they had a pleasant chat over lunch.
Suddenly, Raynaâs phone started ringing, so she said to Carl, âIâm sorry, but I need to take this call.â
The moment she whipped out her phone, she saw that it was a call from an unknown number.
Bewildered, she answered the phone and asked, âHello. Who is this?â
âWhere are you now, Ms. Garland?â
âIs that you, Mr. Xavier?â The monotonous tone was the only hint she needed to figure out who was on the other end of the line.
âIâm having lunch outside. How may I help you?â
âWhere are you having lunch?â
Huh? Rayna froze momentarily before replying carefully, âPerhaps you can send me a location, and Iâll goââ
âAddress,â the man interrupted.
She dared not imagine how Theodore would react if she were to say no to him. Frightened, she had no choice but to give him the restaurantâs address.
Carl looked at her and asked curiously, âMs. Rayna, is that man a fierce man?â
âVery. I wish I could stay as far away from him as possible.â The thought of Theodore sent shivers down Raynaâs spine. Out of all of Curtisâ friends, Jeremy and Wyatt are the friendliest. Theodore is so grim that I bet everyone would avoid him.
âDid you give him the address because heâs coming over, Ms. Rayna?â Carl asked before sitting straight. âDonât be scared, Ms.
Rayna. Iâll protect you. If he dares to be harsh to you, Iâll beat him up!â
âYouâre so adorable!â His declaration warmed Raynaâs heart, and she could not help but pinch his cheeks. Jessicaâs right! His cheeks are soft and bouncy!
However, a thought crossed her mind belatedly when she saw Carlâs dark eyes. This boy is the spitting image of Theodore.
Wouldnât they see each other when Theodore comes over later? I donât think Theodore is related to Carl, but what if Carl is related to his relatives? Will I cause any trouble?
Carl noticed Rayna was staring at him in silence, so he asked, âWhatâs the matter, Ms. Rayna?â
âIâm fine.â Rayna quickly stood up and put on his mask for him. âThat man is vicious, so I think you should wait for me in the car.
Once Iâm done, Iâll send you back.â
Just as she was about to bring him out of the restaurant, they bumped into Theodore. As usual, the man wore a black shirt and a pair of slacks. His expressionless countenance seemed so murderous, frightening the female staff so much that their knees went weak.
Theodoreâs gaze landed on Rayna. With large strides, he walked up to her. âMs. Garland, are you leaving?â
âYes. This boy is done eating, so I wanted to send him home first.â Rayna chuckled awkwardly and stood before Carl so that Theodore would not see him. âMr. Xavier, please have a seat and wait for me.â
âI only have a few words to say. Itâll be quick.â Theodore jerked his chin in the direction of a table behind, gesturing for her to sit back down.
With that, Rayna could not leave even if she wanted to. Left with no choice, she steeled herself and returned to the table. She then sat Carl on the inner seat and lowered his cap to hide his face. âWait for me, okay?â
The boy obediently hummed in response.
When the waiter served them glasses of iced water, Rayna immediately pushed one over to Theodore and asked, âMr. Xavier, to what do I owe the pleasure?â
âYou like Curtis.â
The certainty in his forthright statement stunned her for a moment. When she regained her senses, she replied in an awkward tone, âMr. Xavier, youâre overthinking. I only see Mr. Faymon as my boss.â
âDrop the act, Ms. Garland. Your eyes are betraying you,â Theodore replied indifferently. âBesides, Iâve never seen any other women taking a hit for a man they only see as their boss.â
Rayna felt as though all her secrets were laid bare before him. At that moment, she was embarrassed, and her heart was racing wildly. Are my eyes so easy to read?
Still expressionless, Theodore uttered, âYou know Curtis is engaged, donât you, Ms. Garland? Sooner or later, heâs going to get married. I suggest you keep your feelings to yourself because nothing will happen between you and him.â
âMr. Xavier, are you afraid that I might destroy Mr. Faymonâs relationship with Ms. Sanders?â Raynaâs heart sank, but she flashed him a faint smile before adding, âIs that why you want to see me? To persuade me to leave Faymon Group?â
Instead of speaking, he gave her a document.
Rayna opened it up, and her eyes widened at the contents on the last page of the document. Upon shifting her gaze toward Theodore, she asked, âAre you joking with me, Mr. Xavier?â
âIf you think itâs insufficient, feel free to add on whatever it is that you want.â
âThis isnât about what I want!â She felt as though she was losing her mind. âAre you asking me to marry you, Mr. Xavier?â
Rayna then closed the document and remained silent for a while. âYes. I admit I may have fallen for Mr. Faymon, but I never intend to destroy his relationship with Ms. Sanders. Mr. Xavier, marriage is an important matter in oneâs life. Itâs not a transaction.â
Pushing the document back toward Theodore, she uttered in a slightly mocking tone, âYou donât have to marry me to keep me away. If you donât want to see me, Iâll hand over all my tasks to you and work at one of the branch offices.â
Theodore stared at her for a few seconds, then said coldly, âTell me your preference in men, and I can find you one to marry.â
âDo you have a wife?â
Before Rayna could utter a word in response, Carl, who was sitting next to her, stood up and asked Theodore that question.
Theodore shot Carl a sharp look, but the latter did not flinch at all. Instead, the boyâs dark eyes under the capâs visor bored into his, which stunned the man. That is a pair of beautiful eyes.
Displeased with Theodoreâs lack of response, Carl repeated, âDo you have a wife?â
âNo,â Theodore answered, going along with the boy. However, he soon found it unnecessary to talk to a child, so he frowned and shifted his gaze back toward Rayna. âMs. Garland, please answer my question.â
Carl seemed utterly disappointed when he sat down once again.
Meanwhile, Rayna suppressed her anger and forced a smile with her teeth clenched. âDonât worry about me, Mr. Xavier. Iâll keep the matter to myself. I swear.â
âIn that case, I think you should just marry me.â Theodore pushed the document back toward her and demanded, âSign it.â
Rayna was rendered speechless. Youâre crazy!
Once she had calmed herself down, she pursed her lips and said, âThis seriously will not be necessary, Mr. Xavier. I know Mr.
Faymonâs not the sole motivation behind your action. Youâre also doing this for Ms. Sanders.â
Theodoreâs expression changed, and his gaze quickly darkened.
Seeing that, Rayna felt a chill down her spine and braced herself to finish the sentence. âFrankly, youâre worrying over nothing, Mr. Xavier. Mr. Faymon wonât know how I feel, so I wonât stand inââ
âMs. Garland,â he interrupted grimly, âhave you forgotten about what happened at the club?â
She was stunned by his words.
