Skai's POV

ðµSomething 'bout youðµ I sang.
My favourite song 'Dangerous Woman' by my favourite artist Ariana Grande had just finished it's eighth repetition on my boom box.
"If you ever play that song one more time, I swear I'm going to kill you." Alaya spoke.
I gave her a sheepish smile. "Doesn't anybody make you feel like a Dangerous woman?" I asked her and she stared at me.
She shook her head." No."
I am currently in a make up trailer getting ready for the first round of my birthday ball. It was the Inauguration Ceremony. This is a ceremony where when every wolf becomes an adult they have a special ceremony to make their first few steps into the world.
I begged mom not to go through all that trouble for me, but she insisted on keeping with tradition and its prior to keeping the Moon Goddess happy. Like the hell I care.
'You have no manners, I raised you better than this.' Lani said.
'Should I really care though?' I asked.
She scoffed.' I'm not gonna even answer that stupid question.'
'Suit yourself.' I said to her.
'If only I could just strangle you through your mind...' she trailed off.
'Unfortunately, you can't, you'll miss me too much.' I mentally smile at her.
'True, true, now stop being a cry baby and GET ON WITH IT AND I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANYMORE COMPLAINING, GET IT? GOT IT? GOOD!' Lani shouted.
'Okay, okay, sheesh.' I rolled my eyes and Alaya frowned at me.
"What?" I asked her.
"I was trying to tell you that you're make up is finished, look." She pointed to the mirror and smiled.
'Wow, you actually don't look like a monster for a change.' Lani commented.
'Shut up.' I said to her.
I continued to stare at the mirror as I admired the beautiful figure that was glowing oh so effortlessly through it.
'Full of yourself much.' Lani commented again.
'Didn't I tell you to shut up.' I shot at her.
She scoffed. 'Since when did you became my mother?'
'Since you lived inside my mind.' I said and she remained quiet.
"Are you done looking now?" Alaya looked at me.
I looked back at her, then looked at myself once more in the mirror. "Yes, I'm done". I got up from the chair.
As I neared the door, I heard Alaya mumble. "Finally."
I rolled my eyes and walked out of the trailer, then stopped as my eyes caught something familiar.
I walked closer to get a good look and what I saw shocked me.
This was the exact same necklace, I found in my bedroom right after the wolf left.
I clamped the chain in my hand and looked around for anybody who might look suspicious, but saw no one.
I shook my head then opened my hand and stared at the chain.
I deeply inhaled and instantly my nose scrunched up at a very unfamiliar scent. I looked around again, I began to suspect trickery as I shook my head and felt a little defeated.
I began to walk back to the building when Lani stopped me. 'If you were actually using your eyes.'
'What are you talking about?' I questioned.
'Skai, so you're telling me that you do not see the strange man standing at the entrance of the forest? Staring at you?' She asked me.
I turned and sure enough there was a man standing there. He was dressed in all black and wore dark shades.
I took a step closer and saw him wave at me.
"Skaitra, you're ceremony will start soon, your mother asked me to lead you to the dressing room." I turn to see Alaya standing there, staring at me.
I waved her off and turned back to where the man was standing, only to see that he was gone.
'Shit.' I think to myself as I walk off with my eyes fixed on the forest.
'I'll guess we'll just have to wait and see then.' Lani said to me.
'I guess so.'
(10 minutes B4 Inauguration Ceremony)
"Why do I have to wear this again?" I whined as my mom zipped me up none of the dresses I had chosen.
She stands there and stare at me then smiles. " I can't believe you're turning 18 today, I'm so proud of you. "She pulled into a tight hug.
"Thanks mom, I'm very proud of me, too." I smiled slightly and she shook her head.
"Hey guys, the ceremony is about to start." My dad walks in and looks at me.
He stares at me for a while. "My babygirl." His voiced cracked a bit, then came over to me and pulled me into a hug. "I love you." He whispered.
"I love you too daddy." I said to him. I want gonna cry but seeing the look in my parents' faces was making that really difficult.
"Okay then, let's have a ball." My mom said and we linked arms and walked out of the dressing room .
(Inaguration Ceremony)
I cannot believe I actually thought that this was going to be fun. I have been siting here for over 5 minutes and I'm still yet to see anything exciting happen.
'Sometimes I wonder if you're mental, it has literally been FIVE minutes.' Lani said.
'So?' I asked her.
She scoffed and sank to back of my mind.
I sat straight up as I watched my mom walk towards me with a smile on her face.
"Come my child." She held he hand out. I took it, stood up then adjusted my dress.
We walked to the center of the stage and she cast lavender oil on my face, then she whispered a short prayer to the moon goddess.
While she prayed I couldn't help but glance over at the crowd, everyone who I knew and love were there. They all smiled at me, including Alaya.
My dad stood behind me as my mom had finished the prayer, he placed a royal blue robe over my shoulder and also whispered a prayer to the Goddess.
I stood in silence as I waited.
My dad and my mom who were both dressed alike now stood in front of me.
My little sister, Sophia came on the stage, she looked really beautiful in her royal blue dress, blue baby doll shoes and her hair donned in a high ponytail with a big blue bow at the front and even her makeup was on fleek.
She grabbed the mic, tapped it a few times, then spoke.
"Good afternoon everyone, I would like to welcome you all to my big sissy's birthday Inauguration ceremony." Everyone laughed at her mentioning me being a sissy.
Which really wasn't a lie.
Sophia continued her speech and she had everyone doubling over with laughter. I had to laugh too even though most of those jokes were directed at me.
When she had finally calmed down, she turned to me. "Even though you and I will be separated soon, it won't change anything between us. I hope that you'll have me forever in your heart and that no matter where you go, we'll always love, laugh and tease each other. I love you Skaitra." Sophia said then ran over and have me a big hug and everyone in the audience 'awwed'.
I bent down to her level and whispered in her hear. I'll always love you, baby sis, believe that."
I stood up once again and my parents, my best friend and Sophia all came up on the stage, we formed a small circle and we all whispered a prayer to the moon goddess.
After the prayer was over, I grabbed the mic and shouted. "Let's get this party started." The crowd burst into a fit of applause and excitement.
Maybe this will be a good birthday after all.
Though I wish we really hadn't prayed to the 'Goddess', she was the reason I am leaving my family.
