Theo and Darian were terrified to hear that because they knew Samuel suddenly fell ill mainly because of them. They had thought they carried it out seamlessly but they hadnât thought that Maximilian would have noticed the details, which really terrified them.
Damen told them honestly, âMr. Griffith must have eaten something that can raise the blood pressure in a short time, such as fat, glucose and so on.â
Theo immediately cut in, âThatâs impossible. My dad knew he had high blood pressure. He wouldnât have eaten those. Cut it out. You will be sorry for it if you keep talking nonsense.â
Darian stopped Theo subconsciously and said in a low voice, âBro, thatâs reckless. Weâd better not irritate Doctor Damen.â He knew Theo was just being so exasperated but he disagreed on his brotherâs impulsive act which might cause them great trouble if Doctor Damen was infuriated.
Theo also realized that he almost got into big trouble by getting on Doctor Damenâs nerves, who was after all such a nationwide prestigious doctor that he must have acquaintance with quite a lot of big shots. At the thought of that, he couldnât help breaking out in a cold sweat. Then he bowed to Damen clasping his hands, âIâm sorry, Doctor Damen. Iâm such a big mouth. I hope you donât take it to heart.â
Damen was not a push-over, but he didnât bother to get even with Theo considering that Theo as the Griffiths must be acquainted with Mr. Lee.
Victoria came up to Damen and asked, âThank you so much, Doctor Damen. How much should I pay?â
Instantly, the Griffiths and their relatives burst into whisper.
âOh my! It must cost an arm and a leg to pay Doctor Damen.â
âI heard that the minimum charge was a few million dollars.â
âNonsense. You canât pay him too much even if the minimum charge is tens of thousands of dollars.â
Seeing this, Maximilian knew that they didnât want to pay for it or something so he sneered, âLooks like you donât want to pay for it.â
They were stumped by Maximilianâs words and didnât know what to say looking at one another.
Theo frowned, âI wonder if the man who helped us held a grudge against us. Where do we get so much money?â The Griffiths were not what they used to be, so a few million dollars was not a small amount of money to them, let alone tens of millions.
âDoctor Damen, how much is it? I will pay,â said Victoria.
Damen wiped his sweat and said waving his hand, âWell, the man who asked me here had paid me already. Donât bother, Ms Griffith.â It would be inappropriate to ask Mrs. Lee, wife of the young master of the Dragon Sect, for the money.
What a relief to the rest people on the spot, who were just worried about paying the fee.
Theo grumbled, âWhen did our family know such a big shot?â Nobody answered because they were all confused. While they knew there must be a reason but they didnât have time for that at that moment.
After Damen left, Maximilian transferred some money to Damen secretly because he didnât want to take advantage of Damen all the time.
Theo and his company then went to see Samuel. He said rubbing his hands, âDad, how are you feeling now? Doctor Damen really deserves his fame.â He really had a thick skin. He never thought he was to blame for it and that he did nothing wrong about it till then.
Samuel was so irritated by his words that his face turned blue, which well illustrated how angry he was with Theo especially when he saw Theo took his will by force, showing no respect to him.
âDonât bother me these days,â said Samuel coldly.
Theo looked awkward, knowing that Samuel was still angry with him. He would have been aggressive if Samuel had died. But since Samuel had pulled through, heâd better behave himself.
âDad, donât fly off the handle. Itâs not good for your health. Please calm down. Iâm just joking,â said Theo putting up a smiling face.
âYeah, Dad! What accounts is your health,â added Darian.
Samuel didnât bother to look at Theo and Darian. He was finally clear that his two sons were so bad.
Doctor Damen also told him the reason why his blood pressure suddenly went high. He knew it was Theo and Darian who did it but he was too ashamed of it to talk about it.
When Samuel was discharged from hospital, their plans fell through. Theo and Darian were extremely disturbed because they had thought that after Samuel died, the property of the Griffithâs would have been in the bag but for Damen. They would have been doing whatever they wanted with the money.
They couldnât let go of it just because Samuel had pulled through.
Theo was smoking unhappily when he suddenly said with a vicious look in his eyes, âWell, now that itâs the case, he asked for it.â
Darian couldnât help trembling when he saw Theoâs vicious look. He had a bad hunch and said subconsciously, âBro, donât do things on impulse. It will get you in trouble.â
âWhat are you talking about? Canât you see that Dad already thought highly of Victoria today? If we donât do something about it, we wonât be able to rival Victoria in the Griffithâs then, let alone the legacy.â
said Theo unhappily. He was straightforward with Darian.
Darian frowned, âYou are right, bro! Then what should we do?â
Theo sneered, âGo big or go home. Since whatâs done is done, let the storm rage on. Go get a killer.
Iâve saved quite a few million dollars these years. I will spend them all on the killer.â
âWhat?â Darian was stumped because he was after all not as cruel as Theo. He knew Theo really meant it when Theo began to scold him.
âOkay, bro. Iâm on it.â Seeing that Theo pulled out all the stops, Darian also panicked but he could do nothing but obeyed his brotherâs order. After all, they would sink or swim together.
