When in the emergency room, Theo started to act like a drama queen, holding the doctorâs leg and pleading, âPlease save my father. I will pay whatever it takes to save my father.â In fact, he had wished Samuel would die in no time so that he would be in charge of the Griffithâs. Darian copied his brother and the corridor was filled with their crying. To be precise, their yelling.
Seeing no tears on Theo and Darianâs faces, the doctor said angrily, âIâm going to save your father.
Why are you holding me up?â
Theo was busted. He then let go of his leg and said with an awkward smile, âIâm sorry. Please go ahead.â
Theo and Darian were unhappy when Maximilian and Victoria arrived because for one thing, they were the most threatening among the Griffiths and for another, they were worried that Maximilian and Victoria would ruin their plan.
âHowâs Grandpa?â asked Victoria.
Theo and Darian sneered at her, âListen whoâs talking. Grandpa is in hospital all because of you.â
Victoria was first confused but more angry at their groundless accusation. She couldnât understand her two uncles would turn against her at such a critical time.
âRight on. Itâs all because of you. Otherwise, my grandpa wouldnât have been so seriously ill.â
âGrandpa already suffers from high blood pressure. If you hadnât been going against him these years, he wouldnât have been so ill.â
âIf Grandpa passes away, you two are to blame.â
Theo had bought off the younger generation of the Griffiths to blame Victoria as per his instruction.
Hearing this, Victoria looked pale. It rubbed Iris the wrong way so she stood up for Victoria, âYou are way out of line. Itâs an accident that Grandpa suddenly fell ill because of the high blood pressure. Plus, Grandpa fell ill after Uncle Theo and Uncle Darian visited him.â
Theo and Darian were struck dumb. They didnât expect that Iris would stand up for Victoria and mentioned them particularly. They were busted and turned to threaten Iris, âNonsense. It has nothing to do with us.â
Iris sneered, âI can hardly agree with that. It must have something to do with you.â
Seeing this, those Griffiths who were neutral smell a rat. They looked at Theo and Darian subconsciously and asked, âWhat did you say to Samuel? Why was he so angry?â
Theo said unhappily, âDad is never angry with me. This is nonsense.â
On a second thought, they thought that Theo had got a point there as it was the truth. They didnât ask Theo and Darian more assuming that it was just a coincidence.
Theo felt relieved. To his surprise, Iris would have turned against him. Iris didnât give a damn. She had decided to take sides with Victoria.
Theo continued to sneered at Victoria and Maximilian, âItâs all because you two have been against Dad that he fell ill.â
Hearing this, Victoria became angry that Uncle Theo still tried to make a big deal out of it.
Maximilian retorted loudly, âDonât tell me that you havenât got on Samuelâs nerves before? Besides, we canât rival you in terms of that.â
Words failed them and they started to look at each other because they knew Maximilian did have got a point there.
It was at the same time that the doctor walked out of the emergency room. He was sweating. âIâm sorry.
Weâre helpless,â said the doctor with a sigh.
âThis is so... bad!â Theo was so excited that he stood up immediately. Then he patted on his head after realizing his improper behavior.
Victoria asked eagerly, âIs there any other way?â
âRight, is there any other way?â said Theo hurriedly in order to show how much he cared for his dad.
The doctor was silent for a few seconds before he said, âWell, there is another way. But, forget it. You canât count on it anyway.â
âI would do my best to fight for it as long as thereâs a silver lining,â said Victoria. Although her grandpa had been impossible recently, he was after all her grandpa.
Seeing how sincere Victoria was, the doctor continued, âNot unless Doctor Damen Doyle comes to help. Unfortunately, Doctor Damen is going to other city today. Iâm afraid he wonât make it in time.
Frankly speaking, even if he can make it, you wonât be able to ask him for help. Just forget it.â
Victoria was frustrated to hear that and sat back on her seat. Maximilian asked frowning, âHow much time are we left with?â
âUm... About half an hour. You can have a try,â said the doctor. He told them because of humanitarianism. He also hoped that they could make it. But it was not up to him.
âWhat? Alas!â Theo was thrilled but still managed to be sad.
Maximilian didnât want Victoria to be sad. Since thereâs still a silver lining, he would fight for it. Besides, Samuel was still the one in charge. If he died, things would become in a mess. Given the current situation, heâd better let sleeping dogs lie. He called Damen when he pretended to go to the rest room.
If Damen had already taken off, he wouldnât be able to make it either. And it was all up to Damen if he agreed to help or not. Maximilian wouldnât force him. When he answered Maximilianâs call and learned about what had happened, Damen canceled his flight and rushed to the hospital.
Theo and his company were waiting to see Samuel for the last time. Unexpectedly, Samuel talked with Victoria first.
âGrandpa!â Suddenly, tears ran down on Victoriaâs cheeks.
âWhy are you crying? Iâm most proud of you among the Griffiths,â said Samuel with a smile.
