Seeing Maximilianâs grim face, Connor pounded the table, âThese bastards are idle all day. They canât do something useful, but are good at some crooked ways. Mr. Maximilian, Iâll deal with it and wonât let Nevaeh suffer from it unfairly!
Connor was about to ask someone in to deal with it when Maximilian waved his hand and stopped Connor.
âTake it easy, Connor. Listen to Nevaeh finish her description first.â Maximilian comforted Nevaeh, who then stopped crying.
âMaximilian, when they saw you coming in with this man, they supposed you were someone with great social status so they wanted to curry favor with you, but they didnât have a way to do it. Then my classmate said that men are lecherous, and they let me seduce you. But I donât want to. When I was crying outside, I wanted to run away, but Iâm afraid theyâll badger with me in school. I really donât mean to seduce you.â
Nevaeh was so worried. She was afraid that Maximilian would misunderstand and despise her, but the more she explained, the more she couldnât do it, which made her even more anxious. As a result, she burst into tears again.
After hearing this, Maximilian had a clear idea of the situation. He rubbed his chin, having no idea why they regarded him as someone with high social standing.
âI am an optimistic and upright man, nothing like a person with great social status. Furthermore, my clothes are far worse than that of those peopleâ Maximilian thought.
Connor saw Maximilian pondering, then he looked at Maximilianâs facial expressions carefully and speculating his thoughts.
But after a long time, Connor found frustratingly that he didnât have an idea of Maximilianâs thoughts at all.
Maximilian put down his hand and looked out of the window with kind of melancholy eyes, âConnor, why did they think I have an advantaged social position? Do I look so? Itâs obvious that Iâm an ordinary man.â
Connor was shocked and stupefied.
Was Maximilian thinking about such things just now? And he thought about it so seriously?
Although Connor was shocked, he showed quick reflexes, âIt doesnât matter. Although you are wearing common clothes, your shining points canât be hidden.â
Your appearance and temperament, which are as brilliant as the sunshine, cannot be covered by clothes. At the first sight of Mr. Maximilian, I knew that you are an elite and that you will surely be a man who shines the world in the future.â
Connor flattered Maximilian, but Maximilian didnât feel pleased and comfortable.
It was the first time Maximilian had heard such barefaced flattery that he got goose bumps.
Nevaeh stopped crying and stared at Maximilian. Thinking of Connorâs words of Maximilian, she felt Connor was right and that Maximilian not only shone out with great brilliancy, but made others be infatuated with him.
âUncle Connor is right. Maximilian is as brilliant as the sunshine.â
Maximilian scratched his head with embarrassment. A picture had flashed in his mind that there was a halo on the back of his head, which made him look like a Buddha. Was it his fate?
Maximilian let his imagination run away with him then he shook his head forcibly. He thought heâd better keep a low profile later.
âNevaeh, they should bully you. How do you think to teach them a lesson? As for your classmate, how do you want to deal with him?â
âWell, I donât know.â Nevaeh winced with kind of panic on her face, âHow about asking them to let me go and never bothering me again? Iâm afraid theyâll pester and retaliate against me.â
Nevaeh expressed her worries.
Connor laughed and said with pride and confidence, âDonât worry, Nevaeh. As long as I give orders, no one in H City dare to trouble you. I donât have an opinion of those guys. We must teach them a lesson.
Mr. Maximilian, how do you say?â
Connor looked at Maximilian as if he were Maximilian men and was waiting for Maximilianâs instructions.
Maximilian tapped on the table, âThen bring them here. They need to be given a lesson indeed.â
âYes, Mr. Maximilian.â Connor responded, walked out of the box and asked his men to take those men here.
Vinnie and Alan took the order and led a group to rush into the box which those young men were.
Tate was picking up food for Gardner. Tateâs face turned grim when she saw someone breaking in.
âWho are you? How dare you to break in...â
Before Tate could finish her words, Gardner slapped her in her face, âShut up, bitch. You are not in a position to talk!â
Tate covered her face and looked at Gardner in disbelief with tears in her eyes.
Gardner didnât give Tate a look, but stood up with those young rich men and looked at Vinnie respectfully.
âMr. Vinnie, Mr. Alan, welcome. Iâm so sorry the bitch is so ignorant that she should say such words to offend you. Iâll pour you a glass of wine and drink three glasses on my own to extend my apology.â
Gardnerâs behavior astonished Tate. Only at this time did Tate realize that she couldnât afford the consequence of offending those men.
âGardner was usually powerful than anyone else. Why the two frightened him so much?â Tate pondered.
At this time Gardner had drunk three glasses of wine.
âMr. Vinnie and Alan, I have drunk three glasses of wine. You just have a meal. We havenât seen you for a long time. We miss you so much.â
Vinnie pulled a face then he sneered, âMiss us? Please donât. We donât need. You just go with us. Mr.
Connor wants you to go for him.â
Vinnieâs words silenced the private room. Everyone else all had a bad feeling.
They didnât think thereâs something good for them when they saw Vennie and Alanâs looks.
The coldness in Vennie and Alanâs faces frightened the people in the room. Several young rich men were so scared that they couldnât even support their legs and fell down on the chairs.
Gardnerâs legs trembled. He stretched out his hands to hold on to the table to keep himself from showing any trace of fear.
âSir, how Mr. Connor wants us to go for him? We are not qualified to meet Mr. Connor at all. Is there any mistake?â
âWell, are you questioning me? Or you mean I am too useless to make such mistakes?â there was fierceness in Vinnieâs voice.
Gardnerâs hands trembled even more violently, and eventually he couldnât support himself and dropped into a chair.
