âYes! Youâre right! How do you know it? Donât tell me youâre just guessing.â
Maximilian smiled and pointed at the Guanyin Bodhisattva behind the dragon.
âI can tell it from the appearance of the Guanyin Bodhisattva. I have been seen some overseas statues and one of the Guanyin Bodhisattva statueâs style from Sakura Kingdom is similar with yours. Thatâs why I know.â
Actually, Maximilian knew this thanks to Ewanâs help.
Ewan found the trend that people were getting more and more interested in antiques from overseas.
He kept on doing research about the features of antiques from overseas and made counterfeits by his delicate technique.
The antiques included statues, porcelains, weapon and other items. He made a fortune because ordinary people didnât know much about antiques from overseas. Maximilian learned some knowledge from him.
After seeing the Guanyin Bodhisattva statue with a giant dragon, Maximilian associated it with the faked itmes that Ewan had made and could naturally tell the statueâs origin.
Euan thought Maximilianâs explanation was reasonable; however, it wasnât the answer he looked forward to.
Then he asked, âYes, youâre right about this. Anything else?â
Maximilian came close to the statue and touched it to feel its texture.
After checking it with scrutiny, Maximilian sat on the sofa and answered, âWellâ¦in terms of texture, I think it is made from ruby coral. A large piece of ruby coral can only be found in Sakura Kingdom, as it is rich in corals. Besides, the carving method matches perfectly to craftsman from Sakura Kingdom. He added proper details and makes it seem reserved, simplified and generous, which is common for statues from Sakura Kingdom. Am I explaining it in a right way?â
Euan applauded after hearing Maximilianâs words.
âExactly! I have never expected that you are familiar with antiques from overseas. Nice analysis!â
Maximilian waved his hand, looked at the statue in front of him and continued, âI have never expected that such a treasure could show up in the auction. Why did he sell it?â
âItâ not a problem of willingness. He has to do it.â
Euanâs words were interesting.
Pearce was the most powerful antique businessman in the TY City. He owned lots of treasure and didnât have to sell such a fine works of art on that dayâs auction. Was there someone threatening him to sell it?
Maximilian told Euan his confusion and Euan explained, âWell, nobody can expect why such a fine statue appeared in the auction. Besides, Pearce is also known for his mean manner. I will show you a photo to explain why he sold it rather than keep it.â
After saying this, Euan grabbed out his phone, clicked a photo and handed it to Maximilian.
Maximilianâs eyes opened wide when seeing it.
The screen showed a spliced photo. What shocked Maximilian was the picture on the right.
It showed a Guanyin Bodhisattva statue with a giant dragon. Well, actually, there were two dragons in it!
The two dragons crossed each other and in their crossing point there was a Guanyin Bodhisattva.
It was more astonishing than the one Euan bought in terms of appearance and texture.
Maximilian didnât know what to say when staring at it, but asked, âWhatâ¦What does this mean?â
Euan touched the dragon of his statue and said, âI suppose you can tell that the statue on the right was more spectacular than the one I owned. It is really a master pieceâ¦â
âYesâ¦indeed. I can tell when they are comparing with each other. Are you trying to tell me that Pearce also owns this statue?â
Euan laughed and said, âHah, youâre right. That guy is good at collecting.â
Then Euan took the phone and clicked a photo with two men on it.
âThe old man in this photo called Ryuki Miyazaki. He is a well-known craftsman in Sakura Kingdom and he is the man who carves the Guanyin Bodhisattva statue with two dragons. The man behind him is his son who inherits his fatherâs technique, Hideki.â
âWell, do you mean the statue you owned is his sonâs work.â
Euan nodded.
Maximilian thought this explained why the two statues were so similar in terms of style. He almost thought the one Euan bought was a fake.
Euan put down his phone and pointed at the statue on the table.
âAlthough Hideki inherit his fatherâs technique, he is not as good as his father. You can tell from the two photos that he is more of a businessman than a craftsman. According to what I heard, Pearce got both of the statues from Hideki, and they work in partnership. I find Hideki sitting next to him in this auction.
If what I assume is right, this statue is the key for Pearce to start his business to sell antiques from overseas in the domestic market.â
Maximilian thought highly of Euan after hearing his analysis.
Although he was young, he was really smart and good at understanding business patterns.
âIndeed, itâs easy to explain why Pearce sold this statue generously. I think domestic market will soon be occupied with antiques from overseasâ¦â
Maximilian came to the same conclusion after Euanâs analysis.
The cooperation between Pearce and Hideki was to use Guanyin Bodhisattva statue with a dragon as a trigger to open their market in the domestic market and to import more antiques and make money in the future.
It seemed there would be a new problem in the antique industry.
