The pick up truck that 's literally terrorized us belonged to the sweet boy??
To CJ Walker??
How could that be??
I'm sure Jace meant something else.
"Jace. Are you sure?! THE CJ Walker? The sweet nice boy? THAT CJ?" I said, trying not to believe it.
"Uh yeah. Carleton James Walker. He actually bought it yesterday. Pretty neat ride huh? He said it's kind of battered, so he'll be completely renovating it."
"Then we need to ask who he bought it from." I said
"So you're gonna be like Oh Hey there CJ, how ya doing? Ya did you happen to buy a new car? WHO DID YOU BUY IT FROM!?" Pointed out Asthon.
"It's ok we'll find something out." I said, just as the bell rang.
We threw our trash away and went to our respective classes. Having CJ in my class made things a little easier. Unless we needed partners, he would normally sit alone.
Going to Calculus, I spot him sitting alone at the back of his class, looking outside the window; prisoner of his own imagination.
"Hey CJ." I said, as I made my way to the seat next to him.
"Hey Alexis! H-How's i-it going?" He stuttered, something he never does.
"I'm doing great thanks! How's your hand? What happened by the way?" I asked cautiously, so as not to alarm him. My mind went back to last night's break in. The person who jumped might've gotten hurt, and whataya know, CJ is hurt.
"Uh, I actually got cut." He said, sinking lower to his chair. I narrowed my eyes at him.
"With what?" I asked; slowly.
"Are you interrogating me Alexis? I'm not hiding anything I promise." He said nervously.
"Who says I'm accusing you of anything? I was merely asking about your hand." I pointed out, deciding to quit interrogating the poor boy.
"How are you? I haven't seen you much after you came out of the hospital. You fell a long way." He abruptly shut himself up.
His eyes widened in realization.
Did he just...?
Oh.
My.
God.
He just unknowingly confessed to being the one who saved me!! Oh. My. God.!!
"It was you wasn't it?! You saved me didn't you??" I asked, suddenly overly excited.
"Um I-I don't know what you're talking about." He said, faking calmness.
"How did you know that I fell a long way, if you weren't the one who saved me?? No one else was with me the day it happened, and no one else knew what happened to me except for whoever came for me, because let's be honest, it's not like I accidentally called the ambulance."
"Alexis, I really don't know what you're talking about." He said as he sat straight.
I knew it was him who saved me. I know it's him, I just don't know why he's denying it.
I poked his shoulder and he turned to face me.
We had a lot of similarities, I could tell. Our hair color, same eyes, same face shape, and even the few freckles on our nose was at the exact same spot. Weird what you can see from such closeness. It's like discovering a whole new person.
"Thank you." Was all I said as I turned in my seat to face the front of the class. God knows where our teacher is; hopefully not in a storage room somewhere.
He was still looking at me, I could tell from my peripheral view.
He ran his hand through his hair, his curls bouncing, and he sighed.
"Okay fine. You're welcome. Happy?! You're way too observant for your own good Alexis."
Without realizing it, I hugged him, tears forming in my eyes.
"Thank you so so much!"
He patted my back, not knowing what to do with the over dramatic girl sitting next to him.
When I pulled away, my long as heck earrings caught onto something.
A necklace.
His necklace.
"Oh sorry!" I said, wiping my tears and untangling my earrings from his necklace. He took it off so I wasn't at such close proximity to him.
"Thank you so much CJ. I don't know what I would've done without you." I say, finally untangling them.
His necklace was that of a silver star. It was so beautiful. It was sparkling and has a small tear like ornament in the middle.
"You don't need to thank me Lexis." He said, making it sound like he said "little sis."
I handed him the necklace. "It's very beautiful." And also very damn familiar. I've seen this somewhere.
"Thanks." He replied, kind of sad. "It's the only thing they found on my when my parents abandoned me. Apparently I was left at an orphanage doorstep in Michigan. No one knew who my parents were or where they even came from, but they know that they only left me with this pendant. I was adopted when I was 3 years old by a family that's amazing. I hope to one day meet them; my real parents." He said with so much pain in his voice.
"Wow. I'm sorry I never knew. I really hope you find them someday. You're a sweet and kind boy and I'm sure they'll be very proud of the person you've become." I said, feeling a tinge of sadness.
"I'm not as good as you make me out to be Alexis. I've done some bad things." He said, a hint of darkness taking over his eyes.
"What do you mean?"
"You're smart, I'm sure you'll figure it out. But just in case, if you ever do find out something about me and I'm not there to clarify it, I'm sorry in advance." He took his bag and went to sit on the other end of the classroom without sparing me a second glance.
Just then, Mr. Quentin entered, 20 minutes late. He started explaining things I already knew so I blocked him out and focused on what the heck CJ meant. He can't ever be a bad person. He's a sweetheart. He's probably just being humble. Ya. That's definitely it.

As I pulled over , I saw my parents' car parked in the garage, which is weird because dad told me they'd be gone for 3 weeks.
I went upstairs to their room and knocked the door.
"Come in!" My dad yelled from inside.
"Hey mom, hey dad." I said, making my way to their room. It's so huge, like damn I want to live in an apartment sometimes.
"I thought you guys were traveling and not coming back for another 3 weeks." I said, plopping on their ultra huge bed.
"We decided to stay a few more days just in case we don't come back before new year's." Replied my mom
"Hey guys. May I ask you a question?" I said, planning on confronting them.
"Of course honey cheeks, go ahead." Answered my dad, making his way to my mom's side on the bed.
"I overheard you talking yesterday when I was about to close the door. You said something about someone's birth certificate not being there. Who was that?"
They looked at each other with a expressions I can't really decipher.
"Take a seat honey, this is a long story."
"We knew the day would come when you eventually asked us about something like that, because you're very smart." Said my mom.
"No matter what we say now, we promise that we tried our best and everything that happened afterwards, we did because we love you." Said my dad, his face starting to sweat.
"Um. O-Ok." Was all I managed to say.
"A long time ago, you weren't an only child..." started my mother before her voice faltered.
"What?" I asked in disbelief; barely above a whisper.
"Yes. You.....um....ugh...you had a.....sibling" stuttered my dad.
I was astounded by what I was hearing.
"You had a brother." Said my mom, her face filled with tears.
"A...a br-brother?" I barely chocked out.
They looked at each other and sighed, simultaneously chocking out, "a twin."
