A few months after giving birth, Charlotte Lane and Kevin Clark brought their child back to the Lane Family for a while.
During their stay, Olivia Lane, who was on summer vacation, rarely stayed at home, and William Lane, who used to come home every day, suddenly seldom returned home as well.
Unusual behavior often signals big problems.
After staying at the Lane Family for a week, they happened to have a rest day at the Research Institute.
Kevin took Charlotte to the hospital for a physical checkup.
The examination results were excellent, and she had recovered very well after giving birth.
Only then did Kevin finally breathe a sigh of relief.
âNow that Iâm alright, shouldnât you also work on getting your weight back to normal?â Charlotte remarked.
âWhatâs wrong with this? Isnât it good?â Kevin replied.
âAt least you know. It doesnât look good.â Charlotte said.
âYouâre so straightforward.â Kevin said.
âYeah, I could be even more blunt. Want to hear it?â
âNever mind. Letâs not.â
The two went to the Dance Association to deliver costumes for Sophie Ortiz.
They also watched the rehearsals at the Dance Association for a while. Stella Edwardsâs leg had recovered well and she could participate in the performance.
This performance marked her return after her injury.
Charlotte chatted with her for a bit, and both of them tactfully avoided mentioning Edward Kirsten.
After more than an hour, Charlotte and Kevin left.
As they left the rehearsal building, a female student hurriedly ran towards them.
She almost bumped into Charlotte.
Kevin put his arm around Charlotteâs shoulder and pulled her towards him. Charlotte reached out and supported the girlâs arm.
The girl was startled, and as she apologized, she looked at Charlotte with panic.
When she saw Charlotteâs appearance, she clearly paused for a moment.
Charlotte slightly raised her eyebrows as well.
The girl apologized again before running into the building and disappearing around a corner.
Charlotte looked at the place where she disappeared.
Kevin asked, âWhy? Do you know her?â
âNot really.â Charlotte looked at the spot for a while and then curved the corner of her mouth, âButâ¦she seems to be my future sister-in-law.â
âHuh?â Kevinâs eyebrows were filled with curiosity, and he even began to regret not looking at the girl earlier, âWhat do you mean?â
âThe perfume she was wearing was the same as my brotherâs last night,â Charlotte said, âand the way she just looked at me.â
Kevin knew her sense of smell was very keen.
âShe seems quite young,â Kevin said.
âNineteen or twenty?â Charlotte said, âThe winner of the dance competition the year before last.â
Kevin raised his eyebrows.
Not bad, just a dozen years older than her.
âItâs okay, my brother looks young,â Charlotte smiled.
â¦
In the afternoon, Kevin accompanied Charlotte to Cloud Clothing and Rainbow Skirts again.
While looking at the sample dresses, Olivia sent a message asking for help.
[Sister! Where are you! Help me! My brother is scolding me at home in the study!]
Charlotte received the message and rushed home immediately.
Old Master Lane, Andrew Lane, Sophie Ortiz, and Aunt Cruz took Ethan Clark and Noah Clark for a walk in the backyard.
When Charlotte and Kevin returned home, only the servants were cleaning and watering the flowers in the living room.
Everything was peaceful and normal.
Charlotte went straight to Williamâs study.
Kevin was afraid Olivia might feel uncomfortable, so he didnât go upstairs and waited downstairs.
When the door of the study opened, William Lane sat behind the desk with a serious and angry face.
Olivia stood in front of the desk, lowering her head.
Even though her face was not visible, the back of her head could still convey her defiance.
Hearing the sound of the door opening, both of them looked at the entrance.
William was even angrier, âYou even called for reinforcement.â
Olivia glanced at Charlotte and then resumed her position, lowering her head, âItâs because you scolded me.â
William snorted, âI even want to hit you.â
Olivia pursed her lips.
Charlotte walked in, âWhat happened? Youâre so angry.â
William was too angry to speak, so he looked at the desk and motioned Charlotte to check.
Charlotte Lane looked at the desk, where a few photos were lying.
She picked them up and took a look.
William Lane said, âCalling for backup is useless, no one is on your side.â
Charlotte Lane looked at the photos, which were a bit blurry, but still clear enough to see.
The main characters in the photos were Hugo Clark and Olivia Lane.
The surrounding buildings suggested that the photos were taken at some corner of Imperial Capital University.
Hugo Clark was holding Olivia Lane in his arms and kissing her.
They were secretly photographed from several different angles.
Charlotte Lane squinted her eyes, feeling a bit unhappy inside.
Olivia Lane glanced at her and, seeing her unhappy expression, immediately called out pitifully, âSister!â
âShut up,â William Lane said.
Olivia Lane closed her mouth.
Charlotte Lane calmed down a bit and pulled up a chair to sit down, âWhere did the photos come from?â
âA student from Imperial Capital University sent them to the Lane Familyâs Facebook account,â William Lane said. âMy assistant happened to see them today.â
âWhy did he send them to you?â Charlotte Lane asked.
William Laneâs face darkened even more.
Charlotte Lane roughly understood, âThis student⦠isnât he Hugo Clarkâs fan?â
William Lane didnât answer.
That studentâs message was: Your Hugo Clark is cheating, you better control him.
Charlotte Lane knew she had guessed correctly. She glanced at Olivia Lane and then said, âBrother, sheâs old enough, itâs her freedom to choose who she wants to date.â
William Lane looked at Charlotte Lane in disbelief, âYouâre actually helping her.â
Olivia Lane pursed her lips and smiled.
âStill laughing!â
Charlotte Lane said, âBrother, are you planning to break them up?â
âI really want to,â William Lane gritted his teeth and said.
âBrother!â Olivia Lane raised her head and called him out.
âLook at you! Look at you! Look!â William Lane was furious and wanted to slap the table, but he was afraid of scaring Olivia Lane and didnât do it, âDamn girl! Among men, there are so many! Imperial Capital University has plenty of outstanding men, but you have to find an older man!â
âWhereâs the old?â Olivia Lane argued, âHe, heâs only a year older than you.â
âYou know heâs one year older than me!â William Laneâs mind buzzed, âHeâs a whole generation older than you!â
Olivia Lane didnât say anything.
Charlotte Lane didnât say anything either as she watched the two of them.
Regarding this matter, she really didnât have a firm stance, and her position was swaying from side to side.
But soon her position was tilted because she heard William Lane say, âYou two are really driving me crazy. I donât mind if you find someone older, but isnât it too old! Older than me. The old men from the Clark Family are so attractive. Both sisters are running after them.â
Charlotte Lane: ââ¦Let me correct you, Harton Clark is not older than you, he is one year younger than you.â
William Lane laughed angrily, âYes. But his generation is older than mine.â
William Lane pointed at Olivia Lane, âYou, find someone a year older than me.â
Then pointed to Charlotte Lane, âYou, find someone a whole generation older than me. I really appreciate you two.â
âYouâre welcome.â Olivia Lane whispered.
William Lane was about to explode from anger.
Charlotte Lane pursed her lips to hold back her laughter, and when William Lane was about to speak again, she slowly said, âWe didnât complain when you found us a twenty-year-old sister-in-law.ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The words at the tip of William Laneâs tongue suddenly got stuck.
Volcano-like rage instantly turned into a flickering little flame that could be blown out at any moment.
Olivia Laneâs eyes widened, and she looked at William Lane and Charlotte Lane with a gossip-filled expression.
âWhat? What? Which sister-in-law?â Olivia Lane was like a raccoon that canât eat melons in a melon field.
William Lane pursed his lips and didnât say anything as he looked at the two of them.
Still with a smile at the corner of her mouth, Charlotte Lane looked at William Lane, âYour sister-in-law is not only one generation younger than you.â
âSister, have you seen her? Where did you meet her? Take me to see her. Is she beautiful? Is she pretty? What does she do?â
âWhy do you have so many questions?â William Lane said.
Olivia Lane ignored him.
Charlotte Lane said, âAt the Dance Association. Sheâs very beautiful.â
âOh ho.â Olivia Lane looked at William Lane, âBrother, youâre pretty good.â
âWeâre talking about you, not me,â William Lane said.
Charlotte Lane said, âIf the little girl likes you, why canât Olivia Lane like Hugo Clark?â
William Laneâs brows suddenly knitted, and he felt unhappy.
Mainly because his younger sister liked Hugo Clark.
The little girl did not like him.
