The empty piano practice room.
A lone piano in the classroom listens to the hearty playing of its siblings outside.
Suddenly, the sound of a door opening breached its solitude.
Then a man and a woman walked in.
The man closed the door with a bang. The woman leaned against the door, looking indifferently at the man in front of her.
Kevin Clark held Charlotte Laneâs shoulder with one hand, propped the door with the other, and looked down at her.
The two stared at each other, then Kevin Clark asked softly, âWhat were you just looking at?â
âWhat was I looking at?â Charlotte Lane retorted, âDidnât you observe what I noticed?â
Kevin Clark: ââ¦â¦â
âSo the women by Third Masterâs side are always so beautiful huh?â There was no emotion discernible in Charlotte Laneâs voice, still nonchalant and cold. âThird Master is quite fortunate.â
With a hand on her chin, Kevin Clark commented, âIndeed I am, being married.â
Charlotte Lane laughed lightly, âHow did you meet?â
âWe learned piano together when we were young.â
âChildhoodâ¦â Charlotte Lane didnât finish her sentence because she was interrupted by a kiss from Kevin Clark.
With a gentle smile, Kevin Clark watched her, âI was asking you, how did you turn the tables so quickly?â
âWhat are you asking me for?â Charlotte Lane said, âI just find it funny how you can even be jealous of a woman.â
âWhatâs wrong with women?â Kevin Clark said, âLoganâs gaze towards you isnât innocent. She even fought me because of you.â
Charlotte Lane: ââ¦â¦â
When she suddenly fell silent, Kevin Clark squinted slightly, âLittle Girl, what kind of reaction is that?â
âIf I had such intentions, you wouldnât be in the picture now,â Charlotte Lane said.
Kevin Clark chuckled, then said, âI know, I hold the top spot in your heart, Little Girl.â
âThird Master, tone down your narcissism.â
Kevin Clark bent over to kiss her lips twice, then continued, âHer name is Caroline Quinn. She should be younger than me, but she became an apprentice earlier, so technically, she is my senior. However⦠we arenât really close. We didnât interact much during our piano practice. After I stopped practicing as much, we lost contact.â
Caroline Quinnâ¦â repeated Charlotte Lane, âThird Master⦠the way she looks at you doesnât seem very innocent.â
âYouâre mistaken,â Kevin Clark said.
Charlotte Lane gave a light whistle.
Kevin Clark: ââ¦â¦â
Standing straight, Charlotte Lane pushed back lightly on Kevin Clarkâs shoulder, opened the door, and said, âLetâs go.â
Kevin Clark exited the room with her, and as they walked, he asked, âLittle Girl, why are you so nonchalant?â
âWhat kind of reaction are you expecting from me, to blow up Court Music Academy?â Charlotte Lane retorted.
Kevin Clark: ââ¦â¦â
â¦
On the outdoor venue, some people brought their own musical instruments while Court Music Academy provided some of the larger ones.
Everyone was talking, discussing, and comparing notes.
Kevin Clark and Charlotte Lane stood at the periphery, taking in the scene.
The two fell silent in synchronicity for a while.
If it werenât for Finn Clarkâs accident, if Charlotte Lane hadnât fallen off a cliff.
Perhaps scenes like this would contain their figures too.
Charlotte Lane quickly spotted Charles Flores in the crowd.
Just like more than a decade ago, Charles Flores still liked to wear a white robe, and a jade ornament hung at his waist.
Standing straight, like a bamboo. Elegant and refined.
The hand holding the wine cup, still so beautiful.
Charlotte Lane used to think that her teacherâs hands were the most beautiful in the world.
Now⦠Charlotte Lane glanced at Kevin Clarkâs hand and a faint smile appeared at the corner of her eyes.
Charles Flores appeared older than what she remembered. From a distance, Charlotte Lane saw the white hairs on his head.
âShall we go say hello?â Kevin Clark suggested.
âLetâs wait till the end.â Charlotte Lane responded, âThere are too many people.â
âHmm.â
The venue was large, and there were many people.
But in the crowd, Charles still caught sight of Kevin Clark and Charlotte Lane, who were standing on the periphery.
Because their presence was enough to draw attention. Both domestically and internationally, people kept looking over.
Charles ran up to them and in a tiny voice said, âMr. Clark, Mrs. Clark.â
Kevin Clark bent down to pat his head, âHaving fun?â
Charles nodded, then looked at Charlotte Lane, pointing at the area: âThat pretty aunt plays the piano super well.â
Charlotte Lane looked over. It was Caroline Quinn.
Kevin Clark didnât dare to speak, he minimized his presence as much as possible.
Charles, tugging at Kevin Clarkâs hand, said: âGrandpa Justin is over there, letâs go to say hello.â
Kevin Clark, holding Charlotte Laneâs hand, said: âTogether.â
âOkay.â
Kevin Clark took Charlotte Lane and Charles to greet Alex Justin.
Alex Justin was very fond of Kevin Clark, he had been telling everyone about his regrettably outstanding student over the years.
And this time he seized the opportunity to introduce him again, kept saying what a pity it was.
It seems Kevin Clark has never officially entered this circle yet the legends about him were everywhere.
Alex Justin introduced Kevin Clark to the people next to him.
While, two meters to the right of Charlotte Lane, Caroline Quinn was playing the piano, a very gentle and melodious piano music.
She didnât look over, just listening quietly.
However, standing next to her, Charles was always looking at Caroline Quinn, and that little expression⦠seemed to be quite enchanted.
Charlotte Lane didnât really listen to what Alex Justin and his group were saying, she was just listening to the piano music.
Then Alex Justin suddenly took Kevin Clark to walk towards the right side.
Kevin Clark was holding onto Charlotte Laneâs hand the whole time, so he also moved her to the right.
Nearer to the piano, but Kevin Clark blocked her view.
Charlotte Lane: ââ¦â¦â
Originally, Charlotte Lane was listening to the piano quite attentively, without any intention to look over.
But him blocking like thisâ¦
A rebellious psychology sprang up, she didnât want to procrastinate any longer. Charlotte Lane stepped back and turned her head to look at Caroline Quinn.
Caroline Quinn had just lifted her head, their gaze met.
Charlotte Laneâs expression was very light, very cool. Those phoenix eyes, when looking at someone, naturally exuded a cold sensation.
Caroline Quinn was taken aback for a moment, silently admiring her beauty, then she nodded and smiled at her.
Charlotte Lane acknowledged with a little nod.
The sound of Caroline Quinnâs piano stopped.
Kevin Clark had just tried to pull her back, when he was planning to step back to block her view again.
Caroline Quinn suddenly spoke out, âMrs. Clark, I heard that you play piano very well, would you honor me with a comparison?â
The mingling sound of various instruments and conversations was rather noisy,
Caroline Quinnâs voice was somewhat loud.
So, the people around quickly looked over.
To people outside the circle, and even many within the circle, didnât know much about Caroline Quinn.
But at the top of this circle, everyone knew Caroline Quinn.
Not for anything else, but for her excellent piano playing.
Caroline Quinn almost never performed, but she had a hobby, she liked to âcompareâ everywhere.
She even competed with many Grand Masters and pianists.
So, at the top of the circle, everyone knew her. Some even admired her.
Also, because of this, the people she wanted to compete with were all very impressive.
So, everyoneâs attention quickly shifted to this Mrs. Clark.
There are always greater people beyond. Sometimes, the more advanced a person is, the more they like to hide from the world.
Everyone immediately thought that this Mrs. Clark is a piano Grand Master, and their expectations shot up instantly.
Celeste Martin had been observing the situation here, seeing everyone looking at Daisy Zane, she raised the corner of her mouth slightly.
Then she started walking towards themâ¦
