Upon recognizing the object, Daisy Zane exchanged a glance with Arthur North.
Arthur North said, âThe courier hasnât gone far.â
Daisy Zane immediately looked at Amelie Quentin: âAmelie, have the people from the Doomsday Hotel pursue the courier.â
As they came here to attend the birthday banquet, they arrived on their own, without any attendants.
They can only rely on the staff at the Doomsday Hotel for assistance.
Amelie Quentin promptly responded, âOkay,â without asking anything else.
Daisy Zane then looked at the lobby manager, âGet me a computer.â
The lobby manager immediately brought a computer to Daisy Zane.
With the lobby manager watching, Daisy Zane hacked into the Doomsday Hotelâs system.
The hotel lobby manager immediately broke into a cold sweat, wiping his forehead nervously.
Since the computer was given out by him, he wondered if he would be held accountable for this.
Even though Third Master Clark was on good terms with their young master, surely their relationship wasnât this deep.
Daisy Zane hacked the surveillance system of the Doomsday Hotel, captured a clear image of the courierâs face, and immediately sent it to Amelie Quentin.
Then she hacked all the nearby surveillance systems within range of the Doomsday Hotel.
She located the figure of the courier.
âRobinson Scott.â
âPresent.â Robinson Scott promptly replied.
âYouâ¦â As Daisy Zane turned her head and noticed Scott was wearing a skirt and high heels, she swallowed her words.
âHugo Clark and I will go.â Arthur North spoke while calling Daisy Zaneâs cell phone, âKeep the line open and guide us.â
âOkay.â
Arthur North and Hugo Clark left immediately.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âIâm fine, Iâll go too.â Robinson Scott said, stepping forward.
âCome back.â Daisy Zane called her back, âLet them go.â
Robinson Scott immediately turned back.
A substance like 319 certainly couldnât be shipped via courier because it would be detected during security checks.
Therefore, there was only one possibility, the courier was an imposter.
Moreover, the package had been wrapped layer upon layer, likely to buy more time.
The courier left the Doomsday Hotel, crossed the main road, and went to Gourmet Street on the other side. The streets within the Gourmet Street were like a labyrinth, but the courier was still within the surveillance range.
Daisy Zane watched Arthur North and Hugo Clark on the surveillance feed. The two men were faster than the Lane familyâs personnel. They could certainly catch the courier within three minutes.
But thenâ¦the courier turned into another street and disappeared from the surveillance footage at the end of the road.
Both Robinson Scott and Lily Parker frowned at this, but remained quiet.
Daisy Zane immediately reported the spot where the courier disappeared to Arthur North.
Then she pulled up a map of Gourmet Street, quickly familiarizing herself with all the streets in the area.
She gave directions to Arthur North and Hugo Clark, âSplit up, enter from the ninth street, one from the east, one from the west, and surround the area.â
Arthur North responded affirmatively.
When William Lane arrived, he saw Daisy Zane, Lily Parker, Robinson Scott, and the lobby manager huddled around a computer at the reception desk.
âWhat happened?â William Lane asked.
Daisy Zane glanced at him without responding, but handed him the rewrapped substance 319 (ii).
William Lane quickly looked inside, then resealed the bag, and turned towards the lobby manager.
The lobby manager was sweating profusely. He didnât know what was in the parcel, but he summarized the chain of events for William Lane.
When it came to Daisy Zane hacking the Doomsday Hotelâs system, his voice quivered.
This situation couldnât be fixed just by firing him; he could also be legally held accountable.
However, after hearing everything, William Lane remained unfazed and turned his attention to the computer.
The surveillance-free zone was not large. Daisy Zane started to browse the surveillance cameras around that area. If the courier emerged from that area, he must pass through those places.
However, due to the large crowd, and the evening darkness affecting visibility, it was impossible to identify faces. Identification would have to be made based on body shape and walking posture.
âArthur Northâ¦..â
âDidnât find the person.â Arthur North replied.
Daisy Zane heard the sound of the wind in her cell phone and Arthur Northâs faint gasping, âWhere are the clothes? The courierâs clothes.â
There was no one dressed as a courier in the surveillance footage from any of the exits.
The courier walked into the unmonitored area in his uniform, likely removing and discarding it somewhere before exiting.
âNo sign of it,â said Arthur North. âThis street has too many stores and too many people. He probably hid in one of them.â
Daisy Zaneâs finger tapped on the computer: âLet the personnel from the Doomsday Hotel keep an eye out in the vicinity, you guys come back first. Without a search warrant, itâs illegal to search through all these stores on our own.â
Arthur North remained silent for a moment before responding, âOkay.â
Right after him, William Lane immediately called to arrange undercover guards.
After the banquet ended, the group settled in the tea room on the upper floor of the Doomsday Hotel.
Both Arthur North and Hugo Clark had removed their suit jackets, dropped their ties, and unbuttoned one button from their shirts as they rolled up their sleeves.
Lily Parker brewed and poured tea for them.
Holding her teacup, Daisy Zane said, âThe other party doesnât seem to have any malice, just like the man who handed out the note in Continent A last time.â
âIf he means no harm, why doesnât he show up?â Allonzo Hobson, having finished with the banquet, had just arrived and was filled in, âThis hiding.â
Daisy Zane, too, couldnât make any sense of this neither.
âHave the surveillance footage from inside the stores been checked?â Asked Hugo Clark.
Daisy Zane nodded, âMore than half of the stores on that street donât have surveillance cameras. Weâve checked all that do, but thereâs no useful information.â
âIf he had the audacity to deliver here, heâs prepared not to be found.â William Lane said, âThe folks from the Doomsday Hotel will be on the lookout. Weâll just have to wait for news.â
Daisy Zane nodded again.
Arthur North said, âIf the elixir delivered to us this time is real, that means thereâs another batch of new elixir, and theyâre likely still experimenting.â
Everyone suddenly fell silent, and after a while, Allonzo Hobson cursed.
âNeither domestically nor in any other continent, 319 (ii) has been detected at present.â Daisy Zane said, âSo⦠it should not have been used in experiments yet.â
âReport it, and continue to strengthen defenses.â Arthur North commanded, âWeâll intensify our own territory, and report the rest to higher-ups.â
Both Hugo Clark, and Allonzo Hobson agreed.
Daisy Zane stared down at the color of the tea in her cup, not saying a word.
Arthur North reached out and squeezed the back of her neck, then said, âAlright, letâs all head back, itâs getting late.â
âOh, right.â William Lane suddenly said, âThe hacker who tampered with the equipment in the Black Banquet Hall has been caught.â
Allonzo Hobson: âThat fast?â
âMy father did it himself.â William Lane put a cell phone sealed in a bag on the tea table.
Daisy Zane looked at William Lane.
Allonzo Hobson was surprised, âUncle Lane actually took action himself. Wow, I actually witnessed Uncle Lane in action.â
William Lane laughed a little and then said, âAccording to that hacker, he found the cell phone that had been in contact with him.â
Arthur North glanced at the cell phone, guessing what William Lane might say next.
âBut I only found this cell phone.â William Lane said, âItâs a new phone, with a black card. Apart from posting on Facebook, the phone had contact with the staff at the Spotlight and the hacker, but thereâs no other content. No location information was found either. It had probably been switched off until today.â
Olivia Lane blinked her eyes, âSo cautious?â
Daisy Zane asked, âWhere was the cell phone found?â
âIn a trash can across the street from Doomsday Hotel.â
Allonzo Hobson: â⦠Are there cameras that caught the trash can?â
âThere are, but⦠the people throwing out the trash are strangers.â William Lane said, âNo one was seen throwing out a cellphone.â
Daisy Zane took out her cell phone and dialed Felix Bakerâs number. The cell phone in the seal bag on the tea table rang almost immediately.
After one ring, Daisy Zane hung up.
Confirmed that this was the cell phone that had contacted the staff at Spotlight.
Daisy Zane said in a low voice: âJust throwing away trash, mixed in with other garbage. It could be thrown away by sanitation workers, or anyone willing to help.â
âIndeed.â
âCould it be Amelia Miles?â Olivia Lane suddenly suggested.
Daisy Zane looked at her and said, âMy girl, without evidence, donât suspect people.â
Olivia Lane pursed her lips, âok.â
Seeing how obedient she was, Daisy Zane smiled and then, âNo matter who it is, theyâll slip up eventually.â
