"What the hell is going on?!" It was the voice of a woman who everyone had already recognized, at least, everyone except for Taehyung.
Taehyung saw the woman and he was instantly sure that she had a high position and came from a noble family, but since he had never seen her before, he was unsure about her identity.
"Lady Mirae, what are you doing here?" The young master who had previously tried to cut off Taehyung's tongue suddenly changed his facial expressions and smiled as he asked in confusion mixed with delight.
The guards could finally sigh in relief as they saw this woman appearing at such a heated moment.
Lady Mirae gritted her teeth as she walked closer to the two of them and shouted at the young master, "Brother Daesung, It should be me who does the questioning, don't you think?"
Young master Daesung was suddenly taken back to hear such a rude response and when his initial shock had calmed down, his hate for Taehyung grew even more.
Lady Mirae had actually scolded him for this prisoner, so of course, he won't be liking it.
This young master was the type to let his feelings show on his face so with just a glance Taehyung was sure that cutting his tongue wasn't the only torture this young master wanted to put him through.
Lady Mirae also didn't look too well, in fact, her face seemed to be just as angry as this young master's and if not, maybe even more.
"Do you even know who he is?!"
"To know a mere prisoner, I'm afraid I wouldn't wanna be bothered by such things," Daesung gritted out.
Lady Mirae scoffed as she heard this and couldn't help but comment rather rudely, "Well, you should learn to bother yourself with such critical details."
"Then does Lady Mirae know?"
The girl scoffed as she pulled a sword out from the scabbard that belonged to one of the guards who had his head down this entire time, "Of course I know!" She raised the sword up and Taehyung almost thought that she was going to cut him in half but when he closed his eyes and waited for the sword to strike down on him, a minute passed and he could still not feel any pain.
He felt that the rope that had tied him to the pole had come loose and he was finally able to breathe without constraints which made him open his eyes just to see that the girl had actually cut the ropes and freed him. She was indeed here to help him but somehow, he was still a bit on guard against her since he couldn't be too sure about her ulterior motives.
"A dog must bark at a cat, not a tiger." She spoke up as she lowered the sword and glared at Daesung.
Daesung bit his lower lip and couldn't help but feel wronged and the guards who were watching this free show could feel the second-hand embarrassment on his behalf.
Everyone in this royal palace already knew the identities of these two people, one was the daughter of Court Official Hwang while the other was the son of Court Official Yul. Both of them had high statuses and would naturally know each other and would be on good terms with the other. Since Daesung was a person who wore his emotions on his face, it was also a well-known fact that he like Lady Mirae and wanted to wed her however, Lady Mirae had already turned him down and he couldn't force her.
When everyone had first heard that Lady Mirae had turned him down, they were not the slightest bit disappointed since it was to be expected.
Lady Mirae and Young master Daesung just didn't suit each other like that.
One was a beautiful flower while the other was a pig who wore designer robes. It need not be said how much they contrasted each other so everyone had come to the agreement that it was probably better for the two not to be together.
However, the real reason why Lady Mirae had turned him down was not because they didn't suit each other or because she hated him. The real reason was something that not many people knew and it was because she was already in love with someone else at that time.
"Lady Mirae! You! Did you just call me a dog?! And him, a tiger?!" Daesung looked to be offended and it was something Lady Mirae had seen before.
Daesung was a person who had a hard time holding his anger in so whenever someone would provoke him or tease him, he would blow up like firecrackers on new year's day.
"Brother Daesung, it's better for you to leave right now before you regret saying something you shouldn't."
"You! You're too cruel!" The young master who had previously acted like a tyrant in front of Taehyung suddenly turned into an obedient dog in front of this woman. Without wasting another word here to humiliate himself, the young master ran away with two big drops of tears brimming in his eyes, looking much alike a helpless woman who had been scolded by her husband.
"What a crybaby," Lady Mirae sighed as she turned her eyes to Taehyung and asked with a straight yet worried expression, "Are you okay, young prince?"
Taehyung nodded as he tried to bow and show manners but he wasn't even able to do a proper ninety-degree bow because of the pain that emitted from his back. He had been tied to that pole since morning so it was to be expected, he was sure that his body was probably all bruised up by now, but he was still a man so he would never try to show weakness in front of a woman, or at least that was what the guards all thought. They thought he would hold in the pain and thank the lady but how were they to know that this young prince would do something totally unexpected??
"Kind sister, it hurts so much! fufufu~" Taehyung suddenly cried out as he held onto his back and slouched down
Lady Mirae was a bit taken back as she saw this reaction.
"How can he be so cruel?~ I almost thought I saw the black-clothed grim reaper!" Taehyung added trying to gain some pity.
"Does it hurt a lot?" Lady Mirae awkwardly asked.
Taehyung bobbed his head up and down as he looked at her with eyes brimming with tears, "It hurts so much! I think I'm gonna die!"
"This young prince is so pitiful," Lady Mirae cooed and Taehyung nodded as he heard this, "Do you want this big sister to take you to a doctor?"
Taehyung suddenly smiled brightly and it almost blinded the girl, "How can this kind sister have such a big heart? Are you my guardian angel?"
Lady Mirae chuckled as she heard this and it seemed that the anger she had previously shown towards Daesung had not even left behind a trace on her beautiful face.
"Does this young prince think I look like an angel?"
Taehyung suddenly shook his head as he answered, "No."
"..." The smile on Lady Mirae's face paused awkwardly.
"Angels can't be as beautiful as you." Taehyung continued and the smile that had previously got stuck on her face now turned into laughter as she patted Taehyung's head, not caring about how inappropriate her actions were.
"Young prince has a really sweet tongue."
Taehyung stood up at once as he heard and beamed, "So where's the doctor?"
Lady Mirae nodded as she answered, "Follow me."
Taehyung also nodded enthusiastically as he responded in a delighted tone, "Okay!"
One of the guards immediately stood up as he stopped the two of them, "Lady Mirae, he's a prisoner. We can't let him go out."
Lady Mirae looked at the guard and frowned as she asked, "Why can't he go out? It's not like he's really a prisoner."
It seemed that this Lady Mirae knew much more than she should have and this made the guard gulp in worry as he replied, "I-It's the royal order. We can't go against it."
Lady Mirae scoffed as she heard this, "Wasn't there another order that you people forgot to follow?"
The guard didn't respond and only stood there with his head bowed down, still blocking their path and not letting them pass.
Lady Mirae seemed to have a personality disorder as her face that was annoyed a second ago suddenly smiled brightly as she stepped closer to the guard and patted his shoulder twice as if trying to dust his shoulder before leaning in and whispering something in his ear that was inaudible to Taehyung.
"I wonder if the crown prince would be happy to hear that you let someone bully his beloved."
The guard shivered as he heard this and for a minute, he wondered if the girl was talking about Taehyung or herself since there were three famous rumors spreading around the royal palace. The first one was about Taehyung being Yoongi's beloved and the second one was about the crown prince playing around with Lady Mirae. Both of these rumors had a base that they started from so most people were unsure about which one they wanted to believe in and in this confusion, they ended up believing both of them together and this gave birth to a new rumor: Taehyung was actually Yoongi's beloved but the crown prince had been infidel to his beloved with this woman called Hwang Mirae.
Lady Mirae took a step back as she glared at the guard with a scary smile on her face that Taehyung could not see, "Step aside!"
The guard's face turned black as he reluctantly took a side step and cleared the way for the two.
Lady Mirae smirked proudly as she continued to leave the prison and Taehyung followed behind her like a happy puppy.
"This Kind sister is so amazing!" Taehyung started flattering her, "He looked so scared and instantly cleared the way! What did you tell him?"
Lady Mirae didn't even spare him a glance as she responded, "I'm afraid I don't wanna tell you."
"..."
Taehyung was sure that this woman was weird. If she was someone Yoongi trusted then Taehyung would naturally know her because of how much he had stalked Yoongi but he had never seen her before this so she was clearly not someone Yoongi trusted and if Yoongi didn't trust her, Taehyung would also not dare to trust her. It was either that or Yoongi trusted her and hid her because he didn't trust Taehyung enough but Taehyung refused to believe this theory.
There was no way Yoongi would hide his girl away from him because she was precious to the crown prince... Would he?
Taehyung wasn't someone who would let the subject go just like that so when he heard that the girl didn't want to answer him, he chuckled as he stepped closer to her and took out her hairpin, "Kind sister, this hairpin is so pretty!"
Lady Mirae was a bit stunned but she still maintained an unfazed expression as she turned around and asked, "Do you want to know who gave it to me?" She smiled mischievously.
Taehyung looked at her with an indecipherable expression as he asked, "Who?"
The smile on her face deepened as she leaned in closer and answered, "The crown prince."
"!!!" Taehyung tried his best to hide his feelings but how could the girl not notice the hostile glare that was displayed for not more than a second?
Before Taehyung could respond, Lady Mirae broke out laughing as she snatched the hairpin back and continued to tease him, "Isn't it really pretty? It's the first gift he gave me."
It took Taehyung a whole minute to digest the information she had just given him and when that minute was over, he also broke out laughing as he responded, "What a coincidence. He gave me one just like that. It seems that this kind lady isn't the only one who is treated well."
And just like that Lady Mirae got slapped by such an open taunting response.

but then I checked on my phone and found it to be 4th instead
