"What do you mean?" Taehyung asked with unhidden hostility.
The guard didn't answer the question and instead replied, "You should come back later."
"This is ridiculous. If I said I want to meet him, who are you to stop me?"
The guards were only doing their job but they still got yelled at for it by this prince who wasn't even supposed to have any authority over them.
The two guards no longer looked at Taehyung. They simply stood there, blocking the door, not letting Taehyung enter no matter how much he pushed them.
Taehyung stomped his feet and turned around as he walked away with anger and annoyance. He was kinda glad that Yoongi was back here but he would never be able to rest assured unless he sees the man with his very own eyes.
The guards thought that Taehyung was simply going to leave and they were successfully tricked.
Taehyung smirked as he went around the royal palace, he walked along its wall and tried to find the perfect spot that was easy to climb.
The walls were built high but they were still nothing more than a piece of cake for Taehyung who could even climb a coconut tree.
He looked around to see if there was anyone around and it looked like there weren't a lot of guards around the wall which was kinda shocking for him. Back in his country, the royal palace was covered with dozens of guards. One couldn't even dream about climbing over the wall back there, however, this didn't mean Taehyung hadn't tried.
He remembered throwing stones and distracting the guards while he jumped the wall. There wasn't a particular reason why he did such a thing. He simply did it for the sake of doing it. There was something about jumping walls that made him feel really satisfied and happy. It was a kind of adrenaline rush that he seemed to love.
He jumped over the wall and landed on the other side but before he could even sigh in relief or celebrate, he felt something cold touch his neck.
Oh...
He finally understood why there weren't any guards outside.
It was because all the guards were stationed inside the palace wall.
Unbeknownst to Taehyung, there was a reason why all the guards were stationed inside the wall. They were all permitted to kill anyone who tries to jump over the wall. If they were stationed outside, there would be a lot of people and they won't be able to tell the difference between a spy or a civilian and so, Yoongi had them stationed inside with the permit to kill anyone who jumps over to this side since no righteous civilian would try to jump over the palace wall.
Thankfully for Taehyung, his face wasn't something foreign here so when the guards saw him, they didn't dare act hasty but they didn't lower their swords either.
Taehyung raised his hand in a surrendering manner and smiled as he spoke, "I come with no harm."
He looked up at the guards that had cornered him from all sides which was a bit funny cause he couldn't even go back and jump over the wall again to run away.
He took a step forward and the sword moved forward as well, touching his neck ever so slightly.
These guards were definitely not joking around.
Taehyung chuckled as he took a step back and he felt another sword push against his neck from the back.
"Okay... I won't move," Taehyung exclaimed as he stood in place with his hands raised up high.
He looked around and decided to abandon all hopes of running away. There was no way these guards were simply going to let him go.
The guards didn't say anything and Taehyung had several swords held to his neck so it was only natural that he didn't say anything in fear of getting his neck cut by mistake. The blade was surely sharp enough to do such a thing.
A minute passed and Taehyung started feeling even more awkward. A few more minutes passed and Taehyung tried to gently push the sword away as he spoke, "How about a little space...?"
The swords didn't seem to waver nor did the guards who were holding them and instead, when Taehyung tried to push them aside, they came closer, and now there was no longer any space left between his skin and the swords cold sharp metal.
Some men came rushing towards the scene and along with them came a man Taehyung was familiar with.
"Jungkook!" Taehyung cried out as he saw General Jeon appear.
This man was probably here to save him and just as he had expected, Jungkook ordered the guards to put their weapons down.
"What are you doing here, Tae?"
Taehyung finally let out a sigh of relief as the swords moved away from his neck and he didn't have to worry about dying by mistake anymore.
Jungkook didn't look to be happy as he saw the man but Taehyung on the other hand seemed to be delighted to meet this General again.
"I came to make sure that the crown prince is doing well."
Jungkook had an indecipherable expression as he responded, "He's okay. You should leave."
Taehyung walked closer to the man and patted him on his shoulder as he reassured, "It won't take long. I just need to see him for a second."
Taehyung tried to walk away but was stopped by Jungkook who unsheathed his sword and held it up to Taehyung's neck. His expressions didn't look to be hostile but his actions were surely not for show.
Taehyung paused as he looked at Jungkook.
"I told you already, didn't I? You should leave."
"..."
Taehyung would have never imagined Jungkook to be a man capable of intimidating him like this. The air around seemed to suddenly have weight to it and compared to the dozens of swords that were held to his neck previously, this one sword seemed a lot more threatening. The guards would at least think twice before cutting down his head, but one look and Taehyung was sure that Jungkook would never hesitate to use his sword that was already out of its scabbard.
"I just wanna make sure that he's okay." the smile on Taehyung's face was no longer seen as he spoke in a serious tone.
Jungkook chuckled as he saw this, "You don't need to glare at me. I'm just doing my duty."
"What duty?"
"I was ordered to not let you in."
"..."
Jungkook shook his head as he continued, "Sorry, Hyung. If you want to go inside, I'll be forced to hurt you."
Taehyung took a step forward and let the sword pierce his neck as he looked straight into the eyes of the man without even flinching at the slight pain emitting from his neck that now had dark red blood oozing out and trailing down on the sword.
"You've hurt me, now let me go in."
The two looked at each other for a minute and it was Jungkook who reacted first. He broke out laughing as he retrieved his sword and wiped the blood off before sheathing it back.
"You're cunning," Jungkook commented.
Taehyung smirked in satisfaction as his hands reached out to put some pressure on the wound he had deliberately made on his neck.
Jungkook looked at the wound and reassured him, "Don't worry, it won't leave a scar."
"I'm not worried about a scar," Taehyung responded, "A man should have a few scars on his body, don't you think, General Jeon?"
Jungkook nodded happily as he agreed, "Scars are like badges of honor. The more, the better but..." He leaned in closer to Taehyung's face as he continued, "A king can't marry a person with scars for display."
Taehyung gulped as he looked at Jungkook who looked to be joking yet at the same time, he seemed to also be saying something serious.
"Who said I want to marry a king?" Taehyung's lips curled upwards as he leaned in closer to Jungkook's ears and whispered, "I'm happy with marrying a crown prince."
Jungkook took a whole minute to register the words that had been said, and by the time he finally reacted to it, Taehyung had already headed inside, leaving behind a shocked, laughing Jungkook who couldn't believe what he had just heard.
"Did he just confess?" Jungkook mumbled to himself as he looked at the moving back of Taehyung, "Jimin would be delighted to know this."
One of the guards came running up to Jungkook and asked worriedly, "Is it okay to let him go like that?"
Jungkook pursed his lips as he responded, "Do you really think we could stop him?"
The guard seemed to be extremely worried and a bit scared as he looked at General Jeon who would never be afraid of killing someone if his duty asks for it.
Jungkook patted the guard's back as he reassured, "Let him go. I'm sure Yoongi would be happy."
The guard already knew that this General was a fearless type but it always came as a shock to him that the man would call the crown prince by his birth name. Now, he was even going against royal orders? This General really did not want to keep his head and body attached, did he?
Taehyung knew the palace inside out. Not only had he memorized each and every corridor, but he also knew each and every room inside this palace to the point that he even knew what each of these rooms were used for and how many staff and attendants were present in each part of the palace. If there was something about the palace that he didn't know, it would most certainly be the secret passages that only the crown prince had access to.
He tried his best to avoid servants and guards as he made his way to the study which was home to books that remained untouched by most of the people here. He thought Yoongi would be here but he was wrong so he sighed and decided to check out the man's room.
If he wasn't in the study, he was probably still in his room but when Taehyung got there, he found that the crown prince's room was guarded by two men who looked like two pillars standing on either side of the door.
He peeked at the two guards from the corner and squinted as he tried to find a way for him to get through them. Suddenly, he felt as if he had a brilliant idea. He turned on his feet and peeked his head outside the window as he shouted, "Intruder! Intruder! There is an Intruder in the study!"
The guards who were standing in front of Yoongi's door had clearly heard this but they still refused to move from their positions since there were a lot more other guards in the palace who could deal with intruders.
Taehyung frowned as he realized that his tactic might just have backfired since he had now alerted the guards.
"Damn it..." He cursed as he looked around. He could already hear footsteps approaching which meant trouble. He looked at the tree in front of him that had one of its branches sticking out and almost touching the window.
"..." Taehyung's eyes went wide with excitement, "That's it!"
He climbed up the window and jumped out. If it weren't for his natural talent at this, he would have surely ended up falling and breaking a few bones.
So what if the door to the man's room was closed? He didn't want to meet Taehyung, so what? Taehyung would still be able to find his way through the outside cause he really wanted to see the crown prince at all costs!
Unfortunately, this tree didn't have a branch sticking out and leading to the crown prince's room so Taehyung climbed up and jumped on top of the palace.
"He's there!" Taehyung heard someone calling out and he smiled as he looked over.
He wasn't worried about it since their swords wouldn't reach him so he stuck out his tongue to tease them, but when they brought out their bows and arrows, Taehyung could feel a cold sweat trail down his forehead.
"Why don't we talk it out?" Taehyung chuckled awkwardly.
