This was probably the first time in history that anyone was running away from a shop so that they don't have to collect the extra money they were going to be returned. The people who saw the two running, didn't know what had happened so they immediately thought that the two had stolen something and run away without paying up.
Among the people who watched the situation was a man who worked as a trainer in the royal training ground for militants. The man was casually checking out the street stall when he heard shouting and the running footsteps of two men. He was an officer so he felt like it was his job to step up in such a situation. He put the cup in his hand back at the stall from which he had picked it up and ran after the two thieves.
Taehyung was laughing as he ran with his hand tightly wrapped around Yoongi's wrist. He tried his best to dodge the people as he bent and slid between them. Running in such a busy street was hard, especially if the people were not willing to move aside. If it was Yoongi alone, he was sure to be obstructed and would not be able to run like this, but Taehyung was different.
When Yoongi saw the man's talent in avoiding the crowd and slipping through them, he was sure that this wasn't the first time this man was running away from something like this. He couldn't be too sure but he knew that Taehyung was way too skilled at this.
In fact, he was right. Taehyung was well versed in this. He was a troublemaker, and if there was something all troublemakers needed to know, it would be how to run away in all situations. It was like the most basic rule of all troublemakers and maybe the inventor of such rule was Taehyung who had, at some point, become an expert at it.
"Stop right there!" Yoongi heard someone yelling behind them and it made him glance back to look at the owner who was hardly visible due to the crowd that obstructed the view between them, "Stop!"
Yoongi squinted as he tried to take a closer look and his speed also decreased unconsciously as he tried his best to figure out who the man calling behind them was. There was a reason why he was so serious to know who was chasing after them. The voice sounded a bit too familiar and it made Yoongi's curiosity rise. He felt like he knew the man who was calling after him, but it wasn't Hyun. It was someone else but he couldn't be too sure if his guesses were correct.
"Your highness, look ahead." Yoongi felt Taehyung tugging at his hand and when he heard this, he immediately snapped his head to the front only to be met by a stranger's sturdy back. The impact of the hit caused his hat to almost fall off as he took a few steps back to stable himself.
Taehyung pulled Yoongi towards him and bowed his head to the stranger whom the crown prince had bumped into, "We apologize."
Yoongi only looked at Taehyung with a bit of surprise. He had never really apologized to someone so of course, he wasn't planning to apologize right now, but when he saw Taehyung apologizing for his own careless, there was a sense of guilt in his heart and it made him lightly bow his head as he muttered, "I'm sorry."
Taehyung didn't wait around to hear if the man had forgiven them or not as he pulled Yoongi after him and further into the crowd.
Yoongi was still running when Taehyung immediately stopped and it caused the two to collide.
"Why are we stopping?" Yoongi asked as he followed Taehyung's line of sight which ended in a wine shop.
Yoongi suddenly had a foreboding feeling in his stomach, but before he could say anything or before Taehyung could answer his question, someone else had already caught up to them and the first thing the man did was pull Yoongi by his back collar.
"I asked you to stop, you piece of-" Whatever the man was about to say was gulped back down his throat as he saw the white-colored veil and Yoongi's light facial features that were visible through it.
Yoongi was also stunned at the turn of events, but the one who was most shocked was Taehyung, who, for the first time in his life saw someone be so courageous. Not only had this man pulled the crown prince by his back collar but he had also cursed at him, or at least, was about to curse at him.
"Yeowool..." Yoongi muttered in shock and the man immediately released him from his grip.
"Y-Your Highness, forgive me for my impulsive behavior," Yeowool muttered as he bowed his head and apologized, "I thought you were a-" The man immediately stopped as he realized how it would seem if he spoke honestly and told Yoongi that he thought the two were thieves.
Yoong straightened out his clothes and coughed, "Don't call me that in public."
He was referring to the title of the man. If people were to stumble upon them and hear their conversation, only a fool would not be able to realize that the man was talking to their crown prince. It wasn't ideal for Yoongi to roam the streets like this nor was it proper, but of course, Yoongi had never cared about that. If he were to be caught, it would be trouble but he would still be able to get out of it so he would rather look at the bright side and do whatever he wanted. It wasn't like it was the first time he was wandering around the local streets like this and it surely would not be the last but although it was just a bit of hindrance to be found out, it didn't mean he wanted to get found out.
He would rather not want his disguise to be seen through. Let him walk around in peace and it was enough for him.
Yeowool nodded his head immediately and apologized again, "Won't happen again, your highn- I mean, Y-young master."
Taehyung looked at Yeowool with an indecipherable expression. This man had left a bad first impression on him so naturally, he won't be too happy to run into him again. He was still not over the fact that this general had personally attacked him emotionally just to teach him a thing or two about fighting.
Yeowool glanced up at the faces of the two with a confused expression as he reluctantly asked, "What brings young masters here?"
Taehyung frowned as he reacted to the question first, "It doesn't concern you. Why must we tell you?"
Yeowool could feel the hostility the man was showering him within that one sentence alone. He immediately understood that Taehyung had still not forgiven him and it made him feel helpless.
Maybe Yoongi had sense Yeowool's helplessness as he chuckled and decided to speak up and not make the man feel so unwelcomed.
"We thought it would be good to go out for some fresh air."
Yeowool smiled as he heard this. At least, there was one person here who did not want to kill him just for speaking.
"Coming all the way here for fresh air? The freshest air is at the royal palace," Yeowool decided to point out, "The air here is filled with dust and all types of weird smells."
"Then what brings you here? Why come to such a place to take in the dust and weird smell?" Taehyung asked in a bit of a loud tone as he glared at the man
Yeowool could almost feel the man's eyes digging daggers in him but this didn't stop the smile on his face as he answered, "I wanted to buy a few things."
"Have you bought what you wanted?" Yoongi asked in order to stop Taehyung from responding rudely to the man. The reason why Taehyung hated the man was indirectly Yoongi's fault so he felt a bit guilty about it and wanted to help lessen the tension between the two.
So far, only Taehyung seemed to hate the man and Yeowool was an understanding man according to Yoongi hence he wasn't too worried about the ill-relationship between the two.
"I couldn't find it anywhere," Yeowool scratched his neck as he chuckled awkwardly.
"What were you looking for?'
"It's... Not important," Yeowool pushed the topic away, "You still didn't answer me. What are you guys doing here?"
Yoongi looked at Yeowool and knew that the man's imagination had started going crazy. He was probably imagining a scenario of his own and it was certainly going to be far different than reality.
Yeowool looked at the two with suspicion and the feeling in his gut grew stronger. There was no way they had just come out to get some fresh air. He had not lied nor joked when he said that the purest air was in the royal palace. It was because of the location and construction of the place. There were fewer people there, and the place was highly maintained.
If Yoongi wanted to take a breath of fresh air, he only needed to step out and walk around his beautiful east pavilion. It was Yeowool's favorite place in the palace but he hadn't been there much. He used to go there a lot when he used to spar with the crown prince but after Yoongi had completed his training, Yeowool hardly ever visited.
Yoongi didn't get the man to answer his question so he decided to take revenge by not answering the man's question, "It's not important."
Taehyung internally smiled as he heard Yoongi speaking up. He was proud of Yoongi for not telling the man anything. If Yeowool could be chased away, they would be able to have time for themselves again. A third-wheeler was never liked and it seemed that Yoongi also agreed with his thought, or at least, Taehyung thought he did.
"Would you want to come with us?" Yoongi asked and it made Taehyung frown as he looked at the man with a bit of shock.
He wished he had heard wrong but in the next moment, he heard Yeowool replying, "Where are you guys going?"
Yoongi smiled as he pointed at the wine store Taehyung was looking at, "Let's get some drinks. It has been so long since we've properly sat down and shared a drink."
Yeowool was more than happy to agree. Drinking wine could be considered as one of his hobbies so if the crown prince was going to invite him to get a drink, there was no way he would reject the offer.
Taehyung didn't like this at all. At first, he thought that Yoongi would chase the third-wheeler away but not only did Yoongi not chase him away, but he actually invited him to have a drink? He didn't even ask for Taehyung's opinion!
Taehyung didn't know what this burning sensation in his heart was as he saw the two smiling at each other, talking about the different types of wine.
He wanted to drink with the crown prince but he was always afraid and reluctant to ask Yoongi to accompany him. Asking the Crown prince to drink with him was a hard task and he was always afraid that he would be rejected hence when he saw that there was a wine shop upfront, he thought it was a sign from the heavens. He decided to muster up his courage to ask Yoongi to join him for a few glasses, but not only did this Yeowool interrupt him but he also stole away Taehyung's precious chance at drinking together with Yoongi.
Yoongi had asked Yeowool to have a drink with him as an excuse. He saw the way Taehyung looked at the wine shop and instantly knew that the man wanted to go there for a drink. There was no way Taehyung would ask Yoongi to join him and there was no way Yoongi would ask him so the only option left out was to pull a new person in and make him the reason behind his actions.
How was he to know that he would be misunderstood like this?
