Chapter 16: Chapter 13

The Crown Prince (Taegi AU)Words: 12141

Today, the royal palace saw a shameless intruder pestering the crown prince who couldn't help but sigh and hold his head, wishing the ground to swallow him up.

It was early in the morning and Yoongi wasn't expecting this special guest who had come to settle dues with him.

The servants and guards that were stationed throughout the place couldn't help but murmur among themselves. It was their first time seeing such a courageous man who was yet to be beheaded by the crown prince.

Everyone almost immediately realized who this man was. They didn't need to know the face cause the situation spoke for itself. Who else could it be but the rumored hostage who was favored by the crown prince?

Yoongi didn't care about the whispering among the servants nor did Taehyung. They were in their own world.

Yoongi was pacing around the palace trying to get away from the man who was persistent.

Just how did he get himself in such a situation? Yoongi really felt like banging his head against the wall and knocking himself out. If he knew Taehyung would have come up with something so ridiculous, he would've never proposed such an offer.

Taehyung had a really pleasant dream this morning and when he woke up, he immediately wanted to see the dream come true. When he thought he could never be able to see it come true, he frowned, but after pondering over it for a while, he finally had a great idea, or more like he suddenly remembered something.

The last time the crown prince had dragged him to the training grounds, he had made a deal with the man. If Taehyung manages to land a single strike on Yeonwool, Yoongi would obey whatever he commands.

When Taehyung remembered this, he found himself grinning from ear to ear.

He had a mischievous idea.

Not only had he managed to land a single strike on the man but he had also beat him, so how could the crown prince go back on his words now? Even if he wanted to, Taehyung would just not let him.

Yoongi had to agree to his demands. It wasn't that difficult. Just a small thing. Why would the crown prince refuse to do such a small thing?

Taehyung had confidence in himself. He was confident that he won't get rejected so the first thing he did when he woke up was get freshened up and dressed to head straight to the royal palace.

When Taehyung reached the place, Yoongi was still half asleep but when Taehyung worded out why he had come today, the sleepiness was kicked out miles away from Yoongi's mind.

"Definitely not!"

Taehyung was plainly rejected.

He really didn't expect this crown prince to have such a thick skin to go back on his words. He would be lying if he said he wasn't a bit disappointed.

However, one refusal did not break his determination.

Taehyung kept on talking nonstop, accusing Yoongi of being a liar and what not. He even tried to make faces and tried to gain sympathy from the man but Yoongi just walked away.

Now the two were speed walking around the royal palace with Yoongi in front and Taehyung following closely behind him.

"Just once! I swear, I won't ask for anything else. Just do it for this once." Taehyung pleaded but Yoongi had seemed to shut out his ears, not wanting to listen to any more of this nonsense.

"You can come up with something else. I'm never doing that!" Yoongi was determined as well.

Now it was a showdown between who was more determined and who would bend-in at the end.

Taehyung was clearly much more shameless and determined to see his dream play out into reality. He dreamt of seeing the crown prince dancing and he wanted to see it in real life as well.

The crown prince had never danced in his life and no one had ever dared to ask him to dance.

He was the crown prince for crying out loud not some Kisaeng from a random entertainment house.

Asking the crown prince to dance was equal to asking a lion to eat grass. Impossible and preposterous!

If someone else were to see this, they would be shocked to death.

This was like a direct insult to the crown prince, absolutely unacceptable!

"Taehyung, I've said no. No means no. You should come up with something else more acceptable."

Taehyung stopped in his tracks. Yoongi walked a few steps further and realized that the man had stopped following him, Yoongi stopped as well. He turned around to look at the shocked face of the man and asked, "What's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Your Highness... You just called me by my name..."

"Huh?"

"You have never done that before! You just called me by my real name!" Taehyung beamed, suddenly finding his mood to be uplifted.

"If I do not call you by your name, what do I call you?" Yoongi tilted his head as he asked.

Taehyung thought about the answer deeply and after a minute of pondering over it, he answered confidently, "Now that I think about it, your highness really doesn't call me anything."

Yoongi frowned, "Are you sure about that?"

"I'm sure. If you did, I would've remembered but I don't. Every time we meet, your highness gets straight to the topic of the discussion without calling out my name."

Yoongi was a bit taken back. He thought back to the times he had interacted with Taehyung and the man really seemed not to be lying. Yoongi had never called him by his name. Even behind his back, Yoongi had referred to him as the young prince and not by his name.

Now that the two had realized this small thing, they both grew equally uncomfortable.

There was a feeling they could not describe and when Taehyung looked at the veil that covered Yoongi's face, he frowned.

Suddenly like a fire, an idea lit up in his mind.

"Your highness, you said you'd like me to come up with a different request. I have thought about it!" Taehyung beamed, this idea was perhaps better than the last.

Yoongi looked at the smile on the man's face and instantly knew he would not be liking this idea very much, but he still had to ask, "What is it?"

"I want you to take off that veil for me."

"!!!"

No one in the entire nation had dared to say something like this. Not even the courageous General Jeon would dare to state something so ridiculous!

Yoongi felt shocked. It wasn't a direct reaction to Taehyung's wish, he was shocked because of his own feelings. If it had been someone else, Yoongi would not have blinked an eye before cutting down the person's head, his anger would have most certainly been out of control, but right now, he felt no such anger. Taehyung had said something that should have angered him yet he felt an emotion that could not be deciphered, it was a mixture of pain and grief yet love and embarrassment. He could not name it nor decide what he should do with it.

Taehyung broke out into a smile, "I know your highness is shy but maybe just in front of me? I really want to see your handsome face."

Yoongi's ears turned bright red as blood rushed up to them. This man really had a sweet tongue! Really dangerous to be around!

"I want your highness to be confident with your face. I see no reason why you should not." Taehyung pouted.

It was really a confusing situation to be in. Yoongi was afraid, actually, it could even be said that showing his face was akin to trauma for him. It reminded him of the past that haunted him, he really hated this face, and a face that he himself hates would never be loved by another or so he thought.

"When your highness finally gets the courage to show your face in public, you'll really become the greatest." Taehyung was good at flattery, but his words could be misunderstood by another. By saying such a statement, wasn't he indirectly saying that the crown prince wasn't courageous nor great enough?!

It was unacceptable for someone to point their finger at the crown prince like this, but because of the identity of this man, it was, without a question, accepted a bit too easily.

"It doesn't have to be now but I'll be waiting for that day and when that day comes, I'll reward your highness with a secret I've been keeping." Taehyund beamed.

Yoongi's feelings were in a turmoil, but when he saw the bright heartwarming smile on the youth's face, his emotions became clear and calm like a silent warm lake without ripples.

".... You want to see my face?" He had gone crazy, absolutely crazy. Thank god no one else was around cause if they were and they saw the situation play out like this, they might have been forced to believe that this wasn't the crown prince himself but an imposter who had infiltrated the royal palace.

Taehyung didn't know he'd be getting such a reaction. He had said it on a whim. Just like the crown prince had refused to dance, he thought the man would, once again, reject the idea.

Taehyung's eyes lit up with a light glow, "if your highness is willing to show me, I would be delighted."

Yoongi lightly chuckled and stepped closer towards Taehyung. The two looked at each other with the veil in between, standing just a few inches away.

Taehyung gulped as he waited for the final revealing moment. He had seen that face before but never so openly and he had never got the chance to analyze it more clearly.

Yoongi's hand came up to the veil as he slowly lifted it. Halfway up his face, his hands stopped as Taehyung stared at his lips. Such soft supple pink lips, Taehyung couldn't help but feel his heart not able to calm down.

They turned up in a smirk and the veil that was almost lifted away fell back down.

"That's all you get for today. I've completed your request." Yoongi turned around and walked away confidently, proud of the way he had tricked the man.

It took a whole minute for Taehyung's mind to process everything that had happened.

His brain started to process normally and just as it did, he clumsily ran after the crown prince.

The crown prince heard the man running behind him and his own feet came to a pause, he wanted to turn around and say something, but he had stopped too suddenly.

Taehyung was not able to stop himself on time and he ended up ramming into the man.

Yoongi took a step back in order to gain back his balance, but Taehyung was stepping on the ends of his robe hence, he fell over backward.

Such a cliche romantic scene yet it was ruined because in front of them was a pool and when Yoongi fell, he, on instinct grabbed onto Taehyung and dragged him down with him.

The two fell into the beautiful pool which was filled with lotus flowers and rare fishes. This was not a pool that people would take bath in and so it was clean and transparent. The water was warm and there was some fog emitting from it.

The two splashed into the water and Yoongi's veil had floated away.

It was for a second but inside the pool, Taehyung got to once again see that face which had him mesmerized.

His skin was clear and his features soft, like perfectly polished porcelain that was so rare that one would not believe they had seen such beauty. Taehyung wanted to reach out his hand and stroke that face just to see if it was really as smooth on touch as well.

Such a good looking face... It was a real pity that the crown prince was hiding away such a great treasure behind that wicked veil.

Their eyes interlocked and Yoongi was the first to react.

He immediately grabbed onto the veil and got out of the pool as he straightened his clothes abruptly. His heart, beating at a rate not normal to ordinary people.

Taehyung was left awestruck at the sight and forgot to get out of the pool. By the time he got his senses back, he realized that he was already drowning in the pool. He immediately got up and out. The young prince looked around in search of a certain someone but Yoongi had run away.

He sighed.

Such a pity~

A second later, a smile crept up his face.

It seemed that both of them had gone a bit crazy.
