The woman was stunned when she realized that she had been played with. But it was too late.
She endured the pain in her abdomen, crawled over to Benjamin and grabbed his leg, and said, âWeâve been played.â
She was terrified when they captured her. Then she was rescued and thought nothing of the possibility of being tricked.
âYou are his uncle, he wouldnât do anything against you.â The woman tried to get Benjamin to use his family ties to Matthew to seek clemency.
Abbott scoffed, âNow you know youâre related? Why didnât you consider the consequences when you kidnapped Jos?â
Benjamin gave Abbott a look and laughed, âSo what, Iâm not someone you can touch.â
Abbott laughed in return, âI may not be able to touch you, but this is a kidnapping and you are a criminal. I canât do anything to you but the law can.â
âYou have no proof.â Said the woman as she tightened her grip on Benjaminâs leg.
Now her only hope is Benjamin. Now that they were discovered, Benjamin must not shirk his responsibility and his part.
Abbott looked coldly at the woman and said, âYou donât seem to understand my bossâs temperament.â He used the toe of his shoe to lift the womanâs chin and continued, âWe have plenty of means to kill you if he wants you dead!â
Hearing this, she clung even tighter to Benjamin.
Benjamin clutched at his pants and shouted, âWhy are you panicking, I donât think heâs going to kill you!â
âBenjamin, I can only depend on you.â He clung tightly to Benjamin, as he was his only hope.
Boyce approached and said solemnly, âYou are both suspected of kidnapping and holding for ransom. You are to be arrested and investigated.â He ordered his men to arrest them and take them to the police station.
galnÏνels.câm hosts fresh updates âHow dare you touch me?â Benjamin struggled as his arms were held behind him. He was now using his relationship with Matthew to demand preferential treatment, âIâm one of the Nelsons!â
Boyce replied, âIn ancient times, even the emperor had to face the same punishment as subjects when he committed a crime. Now that we are a lawful society, do you think you can get away with it when when a crime has been committed? Men, take them away!â
âHow dare youâ¦â Before Benjamin could finish speaking, he was quickly taken away. The policemen were very efficient and did not care about the social status of a criminal. All criminals had to be investigated and face justice.
Although Benjamin had some minor physical defects, he had lived a privileged life. Now he was being arrested at that age and had never been treated so rudely in his life, let alone disrespected.
âI demand to see Matthew!â Benjamin struggled and shouted.
âIf you struggle again, Iâll add another charge of resisting arrest!â Boyce said sternly.
Boyceâs men did not go easy on Benjamin and forced him into the car. The woman did as she was told when she saw Boyceâs firm attitude. She entered the car and squeezed in next to Benjamin.
âIâll leave the rest to you.â Abbott dusted off his jacket.
Boyce nodded and made a call before getting into the car.
Jasmine didnât sleep for almost two days. She was very worried as she sat on the couch. Boyce quickly called her to inform her that Joshua had been found.
Jasmine quickly responded to Boyceâs call. She feared that the call would bring her bad news about Jos. Her hand trembled as she answered the call, âHello?â
Boyce knew Jasmine was worried and quickly assured her, âDonât worry, they found Joshua. Everything is fine now.â
Jasmine was overcome with emotions and asked in a trembling voice, âReally?â
Boyce replied, âOf course. How could I lie to you about something like that?â Jasmine smiled as tears of joy ran down her cheeks, âThatâs great.â Then she quickly asked, âHad the kidnappers been caught?â
âYes,â Boyce replied.
âYou have to bring them to justice!â Jasmine said angrily, âHow could they steal a baby, they are inhumane! These people must not go unpunished.â
âI know. Rest well.â said Boyce tenderly.
Jasmine nodded but didnât feel tired at all. Now that they had found Joshua, she wondered if he would be traumatized. She went to the bathroom to wash up, changed and left the house.
She took a cab to the villa and saw Matthewâs car parked outside. He paid the cab driver and headed for the driveway. He stopped momentarily before moving forward to knock on the door.
The door opened quickly and immediately Theresa stepped aside for Jasmine to enter.
âIs Joshua back?â Jasmine didnât know what else to say.
Theresa nodded, âHeâs back. Heâs upstairs. However, wait a little while before you go upstairs.â
Jasmine understood and waited until Matthew was upstairs.
âCome and have a seat.â Theresa led her to the couch.
Upstairs.
It took Dolores a while to get Joshua to sleep. He was still restless and writhing in his sleep. She was heartbroken when Joshua was kidnapped. Every day was torture for her because she didnât know what to do.
A child was the life of the parents. Only when the child was happy could the parents be happy.
âWho did this?â Dolores turned to Matthew. Her eyes were bloodshot and furious.
Joshuaâs disappearance was so sudden and the funeral had just ended. Afterwards she was left alone in the villa and received no news of what had happened.
Matthew stood by the bedside, took one look at Jos and said, âIâll take care of this.â
âIâm asking you to take care of this.â He controlled his voice because Joshua fell asleep. She just wanted to know who did it and why so she could prevent it from happening again.
She was terrified about this incident.
She looked at Matthew and said, âHeâs my son and heâs been inside me for ten months. Heâs my flesh and blood.â Now that something so serious has happened to him, donât I have a right to know who did it?â
Matthew didnât mean to keep it from her, but he didnât want her to worry.
He hadnât expected her to be so agitated.
He reached over and wanted to wipe away her tears, but she turned her head away. Matthew stood up and gave her a look with his enchanting eyes.
She sat still as he stood in front of her for a while before Dolores calmed down and said, âIâm sorryâ¦â.
She knew he had felt terrible too when Joshua had been kidnapped. She was terrified and couldnât calm down.
Matthew pulled her into his embrace. Doloresâ head was pressed to his abdomen as she hugged his waist.
He ran his fingers through her hair and said, âItâs not that I donât want to tell you. Itâs just that I donât want you to worry. The person had been caught by Boyce.â
Dolores calmed down significantly and then revealed who she thought had done this, âWas Benjamin involved?â
This person appeared after Jaydenâs demise and then Joshua disappeared.
She could only relate these events to him.
Matthew calmly stated.
âWhy?â Dolores cocked her head to the side, âWhy did he kidnap Jos? Did the two of them have some conflict? Or did he have a grudge against Dad?â
