As soon as he said this, someone spoke up, “Mr. Shawn was with us yesterday. There were new leads in the previous case and Mr. Shawn was with us until midnight. It was only to be hoped that Mrs. Shawn would be asleep by the time he returned.”

Jasmine waved a thank you, “Please go ahead.”

Dolores opened the car door and said, “Let’s go.”

Jasmine climbed into the front passenger side and thanked Dolores repeatedly. If it weren’t for Dolores’ help, things would not have gone so smoothly. Just then, her phone rang.

When she answered the call, her current employer informed her that she had been laid off. She had just started work and not only had she taken sick leave, but she was late for work.
