âYou always cook the kidsâ favorite dishes, why are you so excited today?â Jayden raised his head and glanced at Coral.
Your imagination starts at g Ɐ ln Ï Î½ð ðsâ¤conn For a moment, Coral didnât know what to answer.
Jessica interjected, âCoral always cares about the children. Now, sheâs finally realized that she has to worry about us.â
Jayden let out a sigh. From the expressions on all of their faces he could tell they had known about her health problem, âI only keep it from her because Iâm afraid sheâs going to be like this.â
None of the adults at the dining table had worked up an appetite. Only the children knew nothing about it. Amanda grabbed some food for him, âGrandpa, are you unhappy today?â
Jayden rubbed his head, âIâm not unhappy. Even if I wasnât happy, Iâd be happy as soon as I saw you, Amanda.â After that, he glanced at the others and said, âLetâs eat.â
âLetâs start eating.â Dolores had no appetite, but she still urged the others to eat. She didnât want the atmosphere to be so stressful, which was not good for Jaydenâs illness.
First of all, he had to be in a good mood, which helped to cure him.
After dinner, Dolores took the baby upstairs. Matthew went upstairs as soon as he got home. He said he had some urgent business to attend to, so he didnât come down for dinner. Dolores knew it was because of Jaydenâs condition.
She pushed the bedroom door open. The room was completely dark. The curtain was not drawn down in front of the window. He saw a black figure sitting there. He walked over and turned on the lamp on the bedside table. The yellow light illuminated the bedroom. She laid the baby on the bed. The little one hadnât slept yet, but he didnât cry after being put to bed.
Dolores walked over to the window and sat on his lap. Matthew wrapped his hands around her waist, pressing his head into her arms. She wrapped her arms around him and asked, âWhat did the doctor say?â
Matthew remained silent for a long moment.
Dolores could clearly feel that he was trembling slightly. His lips and cheek, which clung to her, were icy cold.
Feeling sorry for him, Dolores kissed him on the forehead. She knew he was the most affected after learning that Jayden had cancer, âWhatever happens, our children and I will always be with you. I also want to transfer the C-Town tailoring shop to Theresa.â
Theresa had the ability and owed something that belonged to her.
In fact, Dolores had had that thought for a long time. It was only because there wasnât a good opportunity before. Now, she would take the opportunity to do it, and Theresa shouldnât refuse.
âIâll stay home with our children. I wonât go anywhere. Iâll be by your side and take care of Dad.â She cupped his face with her hands, making him look her in the eye, âIt bothers me so much to see you so frustrated.â
Matthew pulled his hands away from her, pressing her head back into his arms. He said huskily, âLet me calm down.â Dolores was silent as she hugged him.
After a long while.
âHe has advanced lung cancer. Itâs spreading. Now he has a shadow on his brain,â Matthew said quietly in her arms.
According to the doctor, the cancer cells could have spread in Jaydenâs brain, which was quite dangerous. If it hadnât, he could hold on for three to six more months. Otherwise, if it had spread in the brain, he could only have one to three more months.
It was cruel news.
Dolores had fully prepared herself, but her eyes were still red. She had thought they would have a year or two left. To her surprise, it had gotten so serious.
âWhat did the doctor suggest?â she asked in a hoarse tone.
âThe doctor suggested surgery. The other treatments have rather limited effects. Dad doesnât want to have the operation.â Matthew left Doloresâ arms and gave her a look under the dim light, âHeâs quite stubborn.â
So, he couldnât do anything.
Jayden said he was too old, and he wasnât willing to do the surgery on his head.
Dolores stroked his face, âIs there any conservative treatment for him?â. Matthew nodded.
âIâve already sent people to the mansion to get him cleaned up. We can move in tomorrow.â
âWah⦠Wahâ¦â The baby suddenly started crying on the bed.
Matthew wanted to get up. Dolores took the opportunity to stand up.
âIâll hold him,â Matthew said. Since he had been sitting for a long time and Dolores was sitting on his lap, his thighs were numb. He reached down and rubbed them. Dolores squatted down, helping him rub.
Soon she felt much better. She carried her son. The baby wasnât hungry or peeing. He just wanted to be held. As soon as Matthew held him, he stopped crying.
Matthew had already held him often enough, but he was not yet skilled enough. Dolores said she would go check on the other two children and left.
Jessica had just finished bathing them. They were in their pajamas. Dolores pulled them to sit on the bed and said, âI have something to tell you boys.â
âWhat is it?â Amanda threw herself into her motherâs arms. Dolores held her and pulled Amanda into her lap.
Andrew sat down next to them like an adult and asked, âWhat happened? I noticed that no one had an appetite at dinner. After dinner, Grandpa Kevin went to Grandpaâs room. He hasnât come out yet.â
Dolores rubbed his head and said, âTomorrow weâre moving to the Nelson Mansion. We used to stay there.â
âI donât mind,â Amanda said, âAs long as youâre moving in too.â
âOf course, weâll all move in,â Dolores hugged her and said, âAmanda, from now on, you need to worry more about Grandpa, okay?â
âI love and care a lot about Grandpa.â Amanda had matured. However, Dolores didnât tell her directly, so she still didnât understand that her grandfather was sick.
Andrew realized something, however, and asked, âIs Grandpa sick?â If not, why would his mother suddenly remind him?
Dolores reached out and took her son in her arms. She didnât deny it or admit it. Instead, she told him earnestly, âGrandpa is getting older. He will be very happy if you and Amanda are always by his side. From now on, you should accompany him and talk to him more.â
âMom, donât worry. We will,â Andrew said obediently.
âMommy, whereâs Aunt Renee?â Since Theresa had changed her appearance and had a new name, they called her Aunt Renee instead of Aunt Theresa.
Theresa didnât eat much at dinner. She went out after dinner. It seemed that she had received a call from Armand.
Dolores didnât know what exactly had happened. However, she could guess that it might have something to do with Elizabeth.
After learning that Jayden had become ill, she didnât have much energy to worry about anyone elseâs business.
Theresa got a call from Armand after dinner. He said his phone was dead earlier, so he didnât see her message until he turned the phone back on.
So, he called her right away.
Elizabethâs head was injured. Although she was in no danger, she was in a coma for a long time. Until now, she had not woken up.
Listening to Armand, Theresa realized she was not well. Although he insisted he was fine, Theresa could tell from his tone that he was upset.
Concerned for him, she drove to the hospital.
When she arrived, Armand was sitting on the bench in the hallway. He lowered his head, giving the impression of being frustrated.
âHello, Armand,â Theresa called to him.
Armand looked up and saw her. His dull eyes suddenly lit up. He stood up and asked, âWhy are you here?â
Theresa walked over to him. At first she was worried about him, but she replied, âIâve come to see Mrs. Bernie.â
Armand was a little disappointed. He thought she had come because she was worried about him. âSheâs in the living room,â he said.
âYou havenât eaten anything so far, have you?â Theresa could tell his voice was hoarse.
Armand said, âI havenât had time yet.â
âIâll buy you some food.â Theresa turned away. Armand followed her, âIâll go with you.â
Theresa didnât respond, tacitly approving.
They walked shoulder to shoulder. It was nighttime, so there werenât many people in the hallway.
As they left the hospital, they walked across the street to a noodle restaurant.
Armand ordered a bowl of beef noodles. He asked, âTheresa, have you had dinner yet?â
Theresa sat down and replied, âIâve already had dinner.â
Armand nodded and asked again, âAre you thirsty?â.
Theresa said, âNo, Iâm not.â
Armand tried to find a topic to talk to her about, but didnât know what to talk about. Suddenly, he voiced, âThereâs an accident today. Letâs deal with the divorce tomorrow.â
Theresa clasped her hands under the table. She looked very calm: âAre you so eager to divorce me?â.
Armand looked at her, âArenât you ready? Iâve been a drag on you for too long. I canât drag you down anymore.â
âNow youâve realized youâre a drag on me, do you want to make it up to me?â. Theresa could no longer keep her cool.
She was so angry at his words.
âWhat do you want?â Armand was quite generous with her. He was willing to give her whatever she wanted.
âWhat else do you have?â He had left her all his money. She wondered what else he had now.
Theresa took a deep breath. She was afraid she would lose control if she kept talking to him. She got up and prepared to leave.
âWait, Theresa.â Armand followed her to stand up.
Theresa said, âGo on with your dinner. I want to go out for some air.â
Armand followed her restlessly, âWhat happened to you?â
âIâm fine!â Theresa felt extremely irritated, âDonât follow me.â
âIâm worried about you.â Armand pressed his lips together, âAre you angry?â
Theresa glared back at him, staring at him under the lamppost. Grimacing, she said, âYou asked me what I want, didnât you, will you give me what I want?â
Armand answered without hesitation, âYes. Iâll give you what you want as long as I can give it to you.â
âOkay. Since you know you owe me, give me your life,â Theresa said from spite.
Armand looked at her angry face, âYou are angry.â This time she didnât ask him, but made a statement.
âWhy did you skip my question, do you want to go back on your word?â asked Theresa aggressively.
Armand stared at her and said affectionately, âNo. I said Iâll give you whatever you want. Iâm a man of my word. Iâve already given up something Iâm more reluctant with, what more can I give?â
