“I’m getting old. Sooner or later, I’ll be gone. I’ve kept it from you because I don’t want you to be upset.” Jayden was very calm, as if he had already seen life and death. At his age, he had no regrets. Now he had a son and grandchildren, he enjoyed the happiness of a family union.

“What did the doctor say?” Matthew did not want to hear him say those words.

Presently, he was anxious to know Jayden’s current condition.

“It’s not your style, Matthew.” Jayden poured tea into Matthew’s cup, “I’m always proud of you. You’re my son, but you’ve never done anything difficult for me. You’ve been quite successful in your family and in your career. I have nothing to teach you. On the other hand, I’m not as smart as you. Before your mother passed away, I had not confessed my love to her at all. That is the biggest regret in my heart.”

“Let’s toast.” Jayden picked up his glass and looked at his son. Matthew’s eyes deepened. He said hoarsely, “I used to complain about you. I blamed you for hiding the truth.” Matthew was also lamenting.

It was the untouchable wound deep in his heart.

“If I could turn back time, I wouldn’t stop them from recognizing each other no matter who stopped me. They could live together…” Jayden’s eyes filled with tears. He blamed himself for being so stupid back then.

So what if it would affect a lot of people? At least, in that case, Victoria wouldn’t have so many regrets in her life. She was mistaken for a woman even when she passed away. Her biological son was so close to her, but she couldn’t bring herself to expect him to call her Mom.

Jayden wondered how much she had suffered as a birth mother who carried Matthew for ten months and gave birth to him.

Matthew lifted his cup and clinked it against Jayden’s. He gulped it down as if he were taking a drink. He put the cup down and said, “Let’s go to the hospital together. I’ll find you the best doctor.”

“I don’t want to spend my last moments in the hospital.” Jayden was afraid they would do that, so he opted to hide it from her at first, “You’re already on your last period. I may be leaving very soon. Even if I stayed in the hospital, I might live only a few more days. It doesn’t make any sense to me.”

“Dad.” Dolores originally thought he might be in the early to middle stage, so there would probably be some hope of curing him. However, she felt quite overwhelmed at this point, “Medical technology is quite advanced now. There’s probably still hope…”

“I’ve done a full checkup. I know you are quite filial. If you really want me to be happy, please accompany me back to Nelson Manor. I’ve spent my life with her staying there. After she’s gone, I don’t dare go back. Everything in that house has fulfilled memories with her. I dare not touch anything. Now, it is the last stage of my life. I want to stay in our house. When I was alive, I didn’t have the chance to meet with all of you. But you can fulfill my last wish by doing it right now.” Jayden looked rather haggard.

“Okay. But you must take the medical treatment.” Matthew was quite determined.

Dolores also agreed with him. No matter, they had to try their best to cure Jayden. Earlier, she didn’t give Jayden a careful look. Now, looking closer, she could see that Jayden had not only lost a lot of weight, but he also looked yellowish and his lips were extremely pale.

“I agree with Matthew.” She grabbed Matthew’s hand, “We were upset when Mom left too. You must cooperate with the doctor. Joshua can’t talk yet. I don’t think you’re reluctant to leave him, are you?”. Jayden agreed to take the treatment.

After leaving the teahouse, Dolores began to prepare for the move. Matthew drove Jayden to the hospital. He wanted to know in detail about his father’s current condition.

When Dolores returned and told Coral that they were moving, Coral sensed that something was wrong. Secretly, she asked Dolores about Jayden’s condition.

Dolores didn’t keep it from everyone in the family. She also reminded them, “Behave as normal as usual. We can’t have special behaviors. Otherwise, he would feel stressed.”

Kevin was quite upset. He couldn’t believe Jayden had cancer, “Would the checkup be wrong?”

“I don’t think so,” Dolores said. Jayden had been taking that kind of prescription medicine, so it would have to be confirmed by the doctor. That kind of medicine could suppress his condition.

“Then I won’t go back to C-Town for the time being. I must stay here to take care of him.” Kevin had treated Jayden as his brother-in-law long ago. Although he and Victoria got together not out of love at first, they gave birth to Matthew. For the past few decades, Jayden had been taking care of Victoria. Kevin wanted to do something to her right now.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t feel so embarrassed when he met his little sister in heaven again.

Tears welled up in his eyes. Kevin said, “I’m going to call Oscar and let him know my decision.”

As he spoke, he left the room.

The atmosphere in the room became quite frustrating. Coral and Jessica were also quite upset. Dolores said to them, “Please stop being like this. If Dad comes back and sees it, he’ll be stressed.”

“We’re not upset.” Jessica did her best to calm down. She had lived through times like this, so she couldn’t help but think about a lot of things.

Coral, however, couldn’t calm down at all.

Jessica pulled her and said, “He’s still alive, so we still have time to take good care of him. Come on. Let’s help them pack.”

“Lola.” Theresa walked over. Joshua had fallen asleep in her arms, and was now sleeping soundly. “I don’t know what to say to comfort you.”

“I’m fine, Theresa,” Dolores said, “Please help me take care of Joshua for the time being.”

“Sure.”

With Jessica and Coral’s help in packing, Dolores hired the servants by the hour to clean the Nelson Mansion.

It had been a while since anyone had stayed there, so the whole house was pretty dusty.

The windows had to be opened to let in fresh air.

The house was full of furniture and all kinds of fixtures. They could settle in with a few daily provisions.

After cleaning the house, they had to wait at least a day before moving in.

In the evening, Matthew and Jayden returned to the villa. Everyone behaved as usual. After digesting the news for a whole afternoon, they looked very natural. However, they couldn’t help but feel worried about him.

Coral had cooked Jayden’s favorite dishes and urged him to eat more.
