The woman suddenly became very serious with Elizabeth, âA man who has cheated on his wife can never be forgiven.â
Armand took the tidy documents out of his office and turned to the woman, âEverything is ready. Letâs go.â
âWhere are you going?â Elizabeth suddenly panicked, afraid that Armand would leave her.
The woman got up. Armand tried to calm his grandmother, âWe have some business to take care of. Iâll be right back. Please wait for me here.â He winked at the receptionist, âPlease keep an eye on her for me. Donât let her go out. Iâll be back soon.â
âNo! You canât leave.â Elizabeth tugged on Armandâs arm.
âMaâam, donât you want me to reconcile with Armand?â the woman asked intentionally. She wanted Elizabeth to stop bothering Armand.
Elizabeth was surprised and replied, âOf course, I want you to reconcile.â
âOkay. If so, please stay here and wait for us. Weâll go out and do business, okay?â
Elizabeth hesitated for a moment and nodded, âOkay. You should be back as soon as possible.â
Armand patted her and replied, âSure. Weâll be back soon.â

They walked out of the firm together. The woman said, âMr. Bernie, I always thought you were a good man. I seem to have been mistaken.â
Armand looked at her, âWhat do you mean?â.
The woman smiled, âYou should know yourself.â
Armand opened the car door without explaining anything. He had no relationship with this client. They were now only working together.
They were back at the firm soon enough.
âYour husband should receive the court summons very soon. To prevent him from doing something extreme to hurt you, itâs best that you donât stay with him,â Armand told the client.
âI have already collected my belongings before I leave today. Iâm staying in a hotel for the time being. When I get divorced and have ownership of the apartment, Iâll move back in.â The woman seemed quite rational.
Armand nodded, âYou should be careful.â
âThank you, Mr. Bernie.â The car was parked in front of the law firm. The woman pushed open the door and got out.
Earlier, Theresa arrived at the law office and checked that Elizabeth was there. Thatâs why she didnât go in, but waited for Armand at the door.
She saw his car come in. Then she stood on the steps.
A woman got out of her car, but Theresa had no emotional change after seeing that. She looked very calm.
Armand, however, was not as calm as she was. Seeing her standing there, he unconsciously explained, âThatâs my client. We just went to court.â
Theresa said, âYou donât need to explain anything to me. Youâre free to do anything.â
Noticing her indifferent and cold tone, Armand couldnât help but feel quite frustrated.
The woman glanced at Theresa and looked at Armand. She said, âIâll be going now. By the way, I donât expect you to make any mistakes just because of your personal life.â
âPlease donât worryâ¦,â Armand said.
As the woman was about to turn away, Elizabeth saw her. She shouted at him, âDonât go!â.
Elizabeth powered her wheelchair and set out to go after the woman.
Armand stopped her, âGrandma, letâs go back.â
âWe canât go back. Take your baby. Youâve made her suffer once. Do you want to do something bad to her again?â Elizabeth pushed Armandâs hand away and went after that woman, âTheresa! Theresa, please forgive Armand.â
The woman turned around and happened to see Theresaâs surprised look.
The latter seemed quite surprised that Elizabeth called the woman by her name.
When Armand saw Theresa and immediately explained, the client could roughly guess that it was Theresa whom Elizabeth kept mentioning.
Pointing to Theresa, the woman said, âThis is Theresa. You should talk to her.â
âIâm not a fool. She canât be Theresa.â said Elizabeth affirmatively with a confident look, as if denying that she was a fool.
The client didnât know whether to laugh or cry.
Because Elizabeth was an older person, she looked at Armand, âShall I go with Mrs. Bernie? You will be able to talk to this lady.â
Armand looked at Theresa and said to his client, âOkay. Thank you very much.â
âAs long as you make an effort on my case, of course, Iâm willing to do you a small favor.â After she finished talking to Armand, she said to Elizabeth with a smile, âMrs. Bernie, shall we have coffee in the coffee shop across the street?â
Elizabethâs eyes widened, âYou canât leave her, Theresa. Otherwise, the bad woman will jump at the chance.â
At the mention of âbad woman,â she shot a glance at Theresa, implying that she was the bad woman.
Elizabeth tugged on the womanâs hand, âTheresa, I know you have suffered much. You were wronged. You should give Armand a chance to right his wrong.â
As she spoke, Elizabethâs eyes reddened, âI know it was all our fault. You were kidnapped by Phoebe Lewis, but Armand and I were safe and sound. You⦠you lost your baby and you were so badly hurtâ¦.. Oops⦠Why are you still pregnant?â
Elizabeth suddenly looked up at the woman. Whiteness filled her reddened eyes. She sensed something was wrong, but she couldnât remember anything.
She kept wondering what had gone wrong.
She clutched her head, âWhere am I now?â
Armand approached her and pushed her into the reception room. As he passed Theresa, he asked, âWould you wait for me for a moment?â
Theresa nodded, glancing at Elizabeth, who looked rather long-suffering.
Armand spent some time calming Elizabeth down. Then he asked the receptionist to keep an eye on her and left.
âLetâs go talk in the cafe across the street,â Armand said.
Theresa said yes.
They entered the café and found a quiet corner to sit in. A waiter came over and asked, âWhat would you like to order?â
âA cup of American coffee. How about you?â Armand looked at Theresa and asked.
Theresa replied, âA glass of water would be fine.â
Armand said to the waiter, âThatâs all. Thank you.â
âOkay, Sir.â
The waiter left. They remained silent for a moment. Armand took the initiative and asked, âHow have you been lately? Youâve lost a lot of weight, I can tell.â
Theresa looked down, her eyelashes quivering slightly, âIâm pretty good.â
For some reason, they became quite polite with each other, not as intimate as before.
Armandâs hands under the table tightened and loosened from time to time. After a while, he said, âI forgot to take out the agreement drawn up a moment ago. Iâll call my partner to get them.â
As he spoke, he glanced at Theresa and wanted to see if she was reluctant and still loved him for his expression .
