Armand said to him, âI know. I understand you.â
How could he not understand what she was going through?
Every journey starts at gαâηÏνððsâ¤cðð Even Armand was miserable. It could only be worse for Theresa.
âI donât feel like eating anything.â Theresa felt suffocated.
âHow about I send you to Doloresâ house? There are lots of people there and you can talk to them.â Now both Armand and Theresa gave off a depressing aura. She only overthought when she was alone. Armand didnât know what to do either, so he hoped Dolores could make Theresa feel better.
Theresa didnât say anything. She didnât want to go there. In fact, she didnât feel like going anywhere right now. She just wanted some time alone to breathe the pain away.
âListen to me this time, okay?â Armand had no idea how to comfort her this time, so he could only rely on others to do so.
âDo I look decent enough to go there now?â Theresa wasnât afraid to let Dolores see her in her current state. It was the others she was afraid of.
After all, there were a lot of people at Doloresâ house. They would definitely ask questions upon seeing her current state.
âTheresa, what happened?â
âYou donât look well.
âTheresa, did you cry?â
She didnât want to answer those questions.
âI understand, what if I have Dolores come in, is she okay?â asked Armand.
Theresa finally nodded.
Armand stroked her cheek, âIâll call.â
Then he got up again and headed to the living room to make the call.
Dolores was up quite early today. She was also the one who sent the kids to school today. Usually Jayden did that, but Dolores knew he was feeling under the weather, so she told him to stay home and get a good nightâs rest.
Jayden said she was overreacting and that he had only caught a cold, but she made it sound like he was seriously ill.
Dolores insisted on sending the children to school. It was no bad thing for Jayden to rest at home. After all, he was a big boy.
She wanted to find a time to take Jayden to the hospital for a medical checkup as well. Since he was older, it would be great to get him treated sooner if he had any underlying illnesses.
Jayden complained, âYou wonât even let me send the kids to school â what fun do I have left in life?â
Dolores laughed, âWell, youâre sick now. When you have recovered, this errand will still be yours. No one will take this job away from you.â
He had nothing more to say and merely told her that he wanted to go back to his room for a nap.
Dolores reminded Coral to pay more attention to Jaydenâs condition, to which Coral promised. Just as Dolores was about to return to her room to check on her son, the phone in her living room rang. She reached over and answered the call.
âDolores.â Armand didnât sound right. His voice was low and slightly hoarse.
Dolores suddenly tensed. She feared that something terrible had happened to Armand and Theresa and hurried to ask, âWhatâs wrong?â
âDo you have time to come here and keep Theresa company?â she paused and continued after a moment, âI hope you can comfort her.â
Dolores understood what was happening in an instant. She asked, âHas she failed again?â
ââ¦Yes. The doctor said that her egg is not suitable for it and that the success rate is low. Basically there is no hope for her.â
âOkay, send me the address. Iâll be there soon.â Dolores said.
âThank you, Dolores. I know you have your own children to take care of now, but I really donât know what else I can do. I have no idea how to talk to her about this or comfort her. When I see her suffer, I couldnât say anything at all.â Armandâs voice suppressed some kind of emotion.
âI understand. Iâm her relative and itâs only fair that I visit her now. You donât have to feel burdened.â Dolores comforted him, âYou have to manage your own emotions too.â
âYes, I will.â
Dolores hung up with a heavy heart. She pocketed the phone and walked into the room to take a look at her son, who was sleeping soundly in the crib. His cheeks were very chubby, adding to his adorableness.
She stood next to the crib and stroked his face, which was soft like any other toddlerâs, gently. Then she checked his diaper. It was still dry. After changing him earlier, he hadnât peed or pooped. Jessica came into the room with another diaper in her hand. She spoke to Dolores quietly when she saw her in the room, âHe just fell asleep after I fed him. He probably wouldnât wake up so soon.â
Dolores turned around and said to Jessica, âI have to go out for a while.â
âYou go and do your thing. There are a lot of us at home. We can take care of a kid, so donât worry.â
Dolores nodded.
She wouldnât worry too much when Jessica was home too.
Then she went upstairs to put on a coat before leaving. She read the address sent by Armand to the driver, and he was soon on his way.
Soon they arrived in Armandâs neighborhood. Dolores knew that Armand and Theresa had moved in. Theresa had told her before, but this was the first time she had visited their new house.
She pushed open the door and got out of the car.
âMadame, shall I wait for you downstairs?â the driver asked.
âYou can come back too. Iâll take a cab home later.â
âIâll find a place to park then. Call me when youâre ready to go.â
Dolores nodded. She stood in the doorway and texted Armand, telling him she had arrived.
Armand responded quickly. He told her he would be down to pick her up.
She stood at the door and waited patiently.
At that moment, a cab pulled up at the door. Out of it first came a young lady, followed by Armandâs grandmother, Elizabeth.
With the cab driverâs help, Elizabeth managed to get out of the cab and into the wheelchair.
âDid Armand stay here after leaving home?â Elizabeth sounded disgruntled.
Dora nodded, âYes, this is the right place.â
