The saleswoman smiled and said, âI didnât say anything.â
âI clearly heard you speak just now. You said I canât afford it.â Elaineâs face turned red and she really couldnât accept that others said that.
The saleswoman was still smiling, âYou heard it wrong. I didnât say anything.â
âIâm not deaf. You said it clearly.â Elaineâs eyes turned red and she tugged at Jasmine, âDid you hear her say it?â
Jasmine pursed her lips wordlessly. She tugged on Elaine, âLetâs get out of here.â
The saleswoman did say it and she heard her say it. However, if she said yes, Elaine would definitely fight her. She did not want Elaine to fight with such a person.
The saleswoman was obviously writing them off. But she was very wise and not impulsive to argue with others. She was different from Elaine. Her family background was not very good, but she also considered herself a well-to-do family. She had been brought up too early and had suffered too much contempt from others.
She knew that when faced with such a person, the best thing to do was to let it go and ignore it.
But, Elaine couldnât bear to be told that by others.
âYou said it clearly, donât think I didnât hear it. Let me tell you, if you donât apologize, this isnât going to end.â Elaine yelled, âWhereâs the store manager, whereâs the manager? I want to complain.â
Other employees came to persuade her, âYou havenât really said anything. Since you havenât bought anything, you should quickly get out of here.â
âI havenât bought anything, so what, I didnât buy it because I donât like it, who are you to comment on me like that?â. Elaineâs cheeks turned red.
The saleswoman who was at the counter to get the necklace for Elaine stared at Elaine, âDid I say it wrong, can you afford to buy it? If you buy it now, I will apologize immediately.â The saleswoman was sure that Elaine could not afford it and that was why she was so arrogant.
Hearing this, Elaine became nervous. Her face reddened even more.
âWhy arenât you saying anything?â The saleswoman looked at her and knew what she was saying was true, so she became even more rude: âIf you canât afford it, just say you canât buy it, what are you saying you donât like it for? Nowadays, there really are more and more women who are materialistic.â
Elaineâs face had turned the color of molten lava and her tears were almost slipping.
âJasmine?â Dolores was standing in the doorway. As she passed the entrance to the store, she saw someone who looked like Jasmine standing inside. She walked over and took a look and it seemed to her that it was really her.
Didnât Boyce say she had a lot of classes, how come sheâs at the mall?
Jasmine turned her head and saw Dolores approaching, âDolores.â
Dolores nodded graciously, looked in and asked, âAre you coming to buy something?â
Jasmine shook her head, âIâm coming with my classmate.â
âDonât you have class?â asked Dolores shyly.
Jasmine said, âI donât have class.â
Dolores sighed in her mind, is she mad at Boyce? She lied to him and told him she was busy.â
âIâve been shopping, too. Do you want to come over to my house for dinner tonight?â Dolores pretended to let Boyce know that Jasmine was mad at him. When he was away, he was away for a month. Now, she finally had a chance to come back, but the two of them were still arguing. It was a waste of a lot of time.
Jasmine pursed her lips, âMy friendâ¦â
Dolores came in and asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
The driver also came in. He was not only a driver, but also a bodyguard.
Jasmine took Elaineâs hand and said, âCome on, donât waste time on her.â Elaine wiped her face and lowered her head, not saying a word.
Dolores glanced at the furious saleswoman for two seconds and then looked at Jasmineâs friend. She understood roughly what was going on.
She smiled and said to Jasmine, âI still havenât given you any wedding gifts after you and Boyce got married. Since weâre getting together today, itâs nice. Choose an object that you like. Iâll give it to you as a wedding gift.â
Jasmine quickly shook her head and said, âNo, itâs not necessary.
Things here were too expensive. She couldnât accept it.
âOkay. Donât you know the relationship between Matthew and Boyce? Pick one.â
As she spoke, she headed for the counter. When one had money, one naturally had confidence. There would be an imposing aura no matter where one stood.
She pointed to a necklace under the counter, âTake this one out for me to see.â
The saleswoman who had just been arguing with Elaine immediately smiled and pulled out the necklace pointed out by Dolores.
âJasmine, come over here and try it on.â Dolores turned to give it a look.
Jasmine tugged on Elaine and walked over.
Dolores picked it up and helped her put it on to see what the effect was like.
It was fussy. It was a very fine necklace with a four-leaf clover pendant that was a classic pattern on it. The pendant was inlaid with red onyx. It was small, delicate and very fitting for someone Jasmineâs age.
She had fair skin, so she looked energetic while wearing the red four-leaf clover.
Jasmineâs eyes giving Dolores a sparkle. Indeed, she liked this style and had already paid attention to it. She didnât expect Dolores to choose this style to try it on right away.
âDo you like it?â Dolores handed her the mirror to look at herself.
Jasmine was wearing a white, light collared top today and it exposed her collarbone. She wore a small set of three light colors and bracelet sleeves as an outer garment. She was very attractive with such a necklace on.
Elaine wiped the corners of her eyes and said, âIt looks good on you with it on.â
Jasmine thought of the necklace Elaine had just worn, âCan I try this one on too?â.
