Armand paused a little and continued, âIf it is destined that we cannot have children, we must accept it peacefully. We must not insist.â
Theresa didnât mention Elizabeth, which might have repercussions for their current environment.
Anderson Smith knocked on the door. It was the lawyer who had just received the woman.
He asked Armand if he had decided to help the woman.
Armand said, âI didnât say no or yes.
It would depend.
Anderson said, âI was told itâs both good and bad if we decide to represent her. Itâs like a double-edged sword with advantages and disadvantages. If we won, our firm would get another reputational boost. If not, we would be doomed. After all, the family you want to sue is no ordinary family.â
Armand asked, âWhat do you mean?â
In the past, Armand cared about fame and interest. Now, he doesnât. If the womanâs daughter was forced to commit suicide, Armand would take the case.
No matter who the other party was, no one could defy the law.
âI suggest not taking the case. At least we can keep what we have now. Once we failâ¦â
âAnderson, I know what you mean. Iâll think about it,â Armand interrupted him and said, âYou know me well. Even though itâs been a while since Iâve tried a case in person, I have my principles.â
Anderson reminded him, âWhen you try the case, you will offend them.â
Armand said, âI know.â
Anderson let out a sigh. âOkay. Please think twice.â
After finishing his words, he turned and left the room.
After Anderson left, Theresa walked over and asked Armand, âWhat do you think?â
Armand did not answer her. Pulling Theresa out of the room, he asked the receptionist, âHas the woman now left any contact forms?â
âShe filled out the registration form when she got here. We have her address.â The receptionist showed him the registration. Then Armand put it on the desk and walked out of the office while holding Theresaâs hand.
Theresa didnât understand what he was planning to do, so she asked, âWhat do you want?â
âI want to take this case.â
Theresa asked, âWhy, I realize Anderson wanted to talk you out of accepting it.â
âThereâs no reason. I just thought that, if a woman was willing to die with her own child, it must be because she had been forced into the cul-de-sac. I want to know the truth of this case and seek justice for the dead,â Armand replied as he walked.
Theresa did not speak. Inwardly, she supported him.
A fair lawyer was a good lawyer.
They drove to the womanâs house.
The womanâs family was on the outskirts of Fifth Circle. It was a three-story house with a small yard, in front of which was a temporary burial shed. The dead had not yet been buried. In front of the coffin, there were two cinerary coffins, which were covered with a red cloth.
The woman who had just been in the buffet was crying in front of the coffin.
A few people were standing next to her. They must have been relatives or close friends of hers.
After parking the car, as Armand and Theresa were about to approach, they saw several cars arrive. They didnât stop until they reached the entrance, right in front of the funeral home shed.
Soon more than a dozen people got out.
Seeing them, the woman became quite excited. âWhy are they here?â
The man in the lead wore a suit, and gave the impression of a successful man. He exuded temperament with his every move. He said ruthlessly, âHeâs my son. Of course, I must take him.â
This man was the former son-in-law of that middle-aged woman, the former husband of the dead woman.
The woman burst into tears. âYour son? You have been totally lured by that temptress! How can you still care about your son? Your son is deadâ¦â
Before she finished speaking, the man pinched her neck. âIf it wasnât for your daughter, how could my son die?â
âYou fucking bastard!â Just then, the dead womanâs younger brother pounced on him.
The man had brought some experienced bodyguards, who were quite skilled in fighting. Before the young man could get close, he was knocked down. He fell in front of the coffin and knocked over the pile of burning offerings to the dead.
A tall, slender, good-looking woman standing next to the man noticed the entanglement and approached. She picked up the smaller coffin. Seeing the larger one, she purposely knocked it over. With a loud noise, the coffin fell to the ground and broke. All the relatives of the dead were irritated. They stood in a circle around them all of a sudden.
Chaos ensued in front of the funeral shed. With the help of the bodyguards, the woman approached the man in the suit with the small coffin in his arms. She told him, âI didnât want to do it.â
The man was not angry that his ex-wifeâs casket was broken. Instead, he picked up his sonâs and said, âLetâs go.â
The bodyguards helped them sit in the car protectively.
They soon drove off, leaving behind a chaotic scene. Many family members were injured. Those bodyguards were very powerful. They could not win against those bodyguards at all.
They were all lying on the ground, crying and moaning miserably.
Theresa and Armand were watching the scene not far away from them. Armand also took the video of what had just happened.
âWas the woman from a moment ago that mistress?â Theresa could tell that she knocked over the coffin on purpose. That woman was too vicious.
Armand said, âI guess so.â
Since the manâs ex-wife could be forced to die, the mistress had to be a schemer.
âArmand, you must help this family. The Day Family has gone too far.â
He watched the middle-aged woman cry as she held her daughterâs coffin.
Armand sighed. âI want to help them, but they must cooperate.â
It seemed the woman could do nothing but shed tears. She had no idea how to help them.
âShall we get closer?â asked Theresa.
Armand said, âWait a minute. Letâs go when theyâve calmed down. If we go ask them about the case right now, Iâm afraid we wonât be able to get any information.â
Theresa said, âOkay, I agree with you.â
It was a weekend and Boyce was on vacation. He deliberately came back to visit Jasmine from another city.
However, Jasmine did not know Boyce was coming back, as he had not called her. Over the weekend, since Boyce was not home, she signed up for an outdoor activity organized by the school.
After receiving Boyceâs call, Jasmine knew he was back in town.
âWhy didnât you call me sooner?â complained Jasmine as she sat on a rock by the creek. At that moment, she was on a mountain. She had finished setting up a tent with her companions.
Boyceâs companion suggested that he go back without telling Jasmine first to surprise her. Boyce thought she would like it. To his surprise, Jasmine came out because she didnât know of his return.
Boyce asked, âWhere are you now?â
Jasmine replied, âAt South Mountain. I heard that the sunrise here is very beautiful. My classmates and I came to see the sunriseâ¦â
âIâll come and look for you there.â After finishing his words, Boyce hung up the phone, got into his car and set out to meet Jasmine at South Mountain.
