.
But what he saw delighted him. He was glad to see Dolores happy.
Since Matthew said yes, âthen Iâll go ahead and name the baby,â she said.
âPlease do,â Dolores replied, smiling. Then she looked up and met Matthewâs gaze. He stroked her forehead and said, âIt will be a Lennon.â
Oscar rose from his seat, looking at Matthew. He thought the child would follow the Lennon surname.
âThis is his sonâ¦â
âHeâs Doloresâ son, too,â Matthew said.
Oscar gave Matthew a delighted look, âJolene was right, heâs a dependable man. Heâs capable, with a sense of responsibility, plus, he loves and appreciates the people around him.
But, Iâm not very good at that, donât blame me for the name later,â Oscar said, smiling.
âWe wonât,â Dolores continued, âas long as itâs not too bad, otherwise the child might object.â
âYou should thank me for not naming him Batman or Superman.â Dolores was speechless.
She thought about the name once she knew Dolores was giving birth to a boy, she wanted the baby to be a Lennon, Dolores wouldnât change her name and she wanted the baby to carry the last name.
He didnât plan to bring this up if Dolores hadnât mentioned it.
She paid someone for this name and deliberately said something meaningless.
He joked, âItâs the third child, letâs call him Lennon the Third.â Dolores was speechless.
âAll right, all right, joke aside.â Oscar became serious: âLetâs call him Joshua Lennon.â
It had some relation to the names Stanley Lennon and Jolene.
It was a name he paid someone to create by combining Stanleyâs last name and the first letter of Jolene.
While significant, it didnât sound sophisticated. Dolores would say the money had been wasted if she found out she had paid someone for this name.
Oscar became slightly nervous when he received no response from either Dolores or Matthew. âYou donât like it?â He asked cautiously.
This baby had a different meaning than Amanda and Andrew at the time he had accepted Oscarâs suggestion.
He was Stanley and Joleneâs heir, this name fit perfectly.
It was a name to remember them by.
âThank you, Oscar.â Dolores smiled.
âAs long as you like it,â Oscar said as he waved. âIâll go visit the baby,â he patted Doloresâ hands, âRest well.â
The baby was born premature and stayed too long inside the womb during delivery. Although the bruises on his body faded, he must stay inside the NICU for at least a month, you could only see the baby through the glass.
Those outside the patient room joined Oscar to see the baby.
The room was filled with silence.
Jessica carried a bowl of nutrient soup. It was a blessing that both mother and baby were safe.
The only downside was that Dolores would no longer be able to have a child in the future, as this delivery had severely damaged her uterus.
âI donât want to drink that.â Jessica was making her drink this three times a day lately, she was sick of it.
âPut it aside first,â Matthew said.
âI know itâs gross, but itâs good for your body, hang in there,â Jessica reminded as she put the soup on the table.
âItâs okay,â nodded Dolores.
âAre you still in pain?â asked Jessica.
Dolores nodded. Her breasts were full, but she couldnât nurse the baby since she was in the NICU.
âTake it out if it hurts too muchâ¦â
âNo,â Dolores said. The doctor advised her not to breastfeed because of her bodyâs weakness and because the medication she was injected with during the operation made her breast milk unsuitable for the baby.
She could only endure the pain until her breasts stopped producing milk naturally.
Jessica sighed, âGet some rest, theyâll be back after they see the baby.â Dolores nodded as Jessica walked out.
Matthew sat on the side of the bed holding the soup, âDrink it before it gets cold.â
The room was hot without air conditioning, she would be all sweaty after drinking the soup.
Jessica forbade her to shower these days, she felt very uncomfortable, hence she was reluctant to drink the soup.
âLater.â Dolores didnât move an inch.
âAre you uncomfortable?â Matthew asked as he set the soup down.
âWhat do you think?â Dolores stared at him.
âHold on,â Matthew tried to comfort her, âIâll get you some hot water to clean your body and new sets of clothes to change into after you eat your soup.â
Dolores was drawn in, âItâs better than not cleaning your body.â She sat up slowly.
Matthew wanted to feed her, âIâll drink it myself.â She drank the soup and finished it in one gulp.
The hot soup instantly warmed her body and she began to sweat. She passed the empty bowl to Matthew as she grabbed some tissues to wipe off the sweat.
Matthew left the bowl out, closed the curtain again and went to the sink to get some water to wash himself. He put the water on the chair, soaked a small towel, and said, âTake off your clothes.â
