She looked deeply at Noah and excitedly confessed, âYou were at the other door that God opened for me.â
The host continued, âThe bride and groom loved each other deeply. Even I was almost in tears when I heard their heartfelt confession. Letâs wish the couple all the best and may they be together forever.â The audience applauded joyfully.
The ceremony over, Noah and Chloe stepped down from the dais. The guests began to move freely. There was food, cakes and drinks set aside for people to consume.
Noah, Chloe and Noahâs parents made their way toward Dolores.
Marine greeted Dolores cheerfully, âIâm glad you came.â
Dolores smiled, âMy pleasure.â
âWould you like to sit inside, is it too hot outside?â asked Jeffery.
Dolores wanted to decline his offer because Matthew mentioned that they would be back after the ceremony as she shouldnât stay out too long. But the family surrounded her and was being very nice, so she nodded.
Matthew helped Dolores walk, she wrapped her hand around his arms. They walked slowly into the house.
Things were very bad between them back then. They had forgiven each other, but they still needed some transition time, they couldnât act too familiar with each other.
They spoke with unfamiliarity.
Chloe poured Dolores a glass of water. Dolores stood outside for a while and felt a little thirsty.
Dolores took the glass and said, âThank you.â
âYouâre welcome,â smiled Chloe.
Dolores took two sips and asked Matthew, âAre you thirsty?â. Matthew shook his head.
Noah talked to Matthew, âSince I joined the military, Iâve learned a lot of things. I feel like Iâve wasted my time since then.â
He only wanted to become an idol because he wanted to go against Jefferyâs words, and that was the wrong decision.
He didnât even like being an idol that much, but he wanted to do it just because Jeffery hated it.
It was childish to think about it.
âIf I heeded what he said, Iâd be ranked pretty high right now.â
Noah became a much more mature person, no longer the arbitrary kid he was then. He was a grown man. Matthew replied, âItâs not too late.â
He believed Noah could achieve what he wanted in the future.
Noah smiled, Matthewâs assurance gave him more confidence.
It was encouraging.
Jeffery and Marina talked with the other guests. Every once in a while they looked to the side and smiled to see them getting along so well.
âToday is your big day. Donât stay here, go talk to the other guests too,â Dolores said.
âItâs okay,â Noah said smiling, âThe guests are close to us, they wonât mind.â
Chloe said, âYes, apart from some family members, the other guests are your comrades-in-arms. They meet every day at the base and so they wouldnât mind. They must be here with you since we donât see each other very often.â
âOh, right, when are you going to give birth? You and I will apply for leave and come visit you.â
Dolores replied, âIn a few days.â
âReally? Our ceremonies and dinners are over in a week, maybe we can come,â Chloe said as she took a look at Doloresâ belly. âIs it a boy or a girl?â
âIâd want them either way,â Dolores said. They would all be her darling children.
Dolores wanted to go to the bathroom. She tugged on Matthewâs sleeve, âI want to go to the bathroom.â
Chloe said, âIâll go with youâ¦â.
Matthew suddenly stood up and said, âIâll go.â
Dolores smiled, âYou should go entertain the other guests.â She said this earlier because she wanted to use the bathroom.
During this trimester, her uterus was pressing on her bladder and so the number of times she went to the bathroom increased.
âThe sink is over there.â Chloe pointed down the hallway to the right.
Dolores smiled and nodded.
She walked slowly. She reached the washroom and Matthew couldnât get into the ladiesâ room. Dolores had to go in herself. Matthew reminded her to take her time.
Dolores nodded her head. She knew the condition of her body and so she was very careful. As she washed her hand and left the bathroom, someone rushed in and she didnât realize she was going too fast. They bumped into her.
Luckily, Dolores was standing near the sink and thatâs why she didnât fall to the floor, as she managed to grab onto the side of the sink. The person did not do it on purpose, apologized and quickly walked to the other stall in the bathroom.
Dolores felt pain in her abdomen when she came out of the bathroom. She put her hand against the wall and held her abdomen, âMatthewâ¦â.
Matthew received a call from dispatch while he was waiting for her. Abbott was not in the office and so they had to call Matthew to tell him everything. He took a few steps forward and looked out the window. He didnât notice Dolores coming out.
It was not similar to the pain of childbirth. The pain of giving birth would start mildly at first, and then the pain would gradually increase as she was about to give birth.
I had experiences and I knew that this time the pain was different. It was so painful all of a sudden that she could not stand up. Her legs were shaking.
âMatthewâ¦â
She stared at Matthew, who was standing.
He called out to him in a hoarse voice.
Matthew finally glanced over and saw that she was in pain. He quickly hung up the phone and walked over.
He put his hand on her shoulder, âDoes your stomach hurt?â
Dolores winced in pain, her lips turned pale and her face turned green, âItâ¦. hurtâ¦â
Matthew quickly carried her and went outside.
Noah and Chloe were talking to their friends in the hallway. They saw Matthew and Dolores in his arms.
Noah said to his friends, âThere is alcohol over there, please help yourselves.â
The friends understood that they had business to attend to, they said, âDonât worry, donât mind us. We wonât come back on an empty stomach. We will enjoy ourselves and drink a lot even if you donât say so.â
âThereâs blood.â
Chloe noticed that there was blood in the places Matthew had just walked by.
They were dripping from Doloresâ legs .
