Armand was still in the hospital, so Theresa didnât stay home long because she had to go back to the hospital to take care of Armand.
Elizabeth said, âDonât worry. Iâm well taken care of now.â
Theresa nodded. She told the new caregiver to take good care of Elizabeth.
âSure, donât worry,â Dora said.
Abbott hadnât left the Bernie Mansion when Theresa left the house, so he went to find Theresa at the hospital before he left.
Theresa discovered that Boyce was there when she arrived at the hospital. It was originally Boyceâs responsibility, but he was swamped at work since Officer Miller left. He was only able to go to the hospital when he got off work.
Boyce was told that Elizabeth was discharged after he arrived at the hospital. So he went to visit Armand in his ward.
Armand told Boyce that Theresa helped him with the discharge procedure.
Boyce felt relief. He glared at Armand and sneered, âWill you stop acting already?â
Armand laughed bitterly, âIâm afraid it will kill me if I keep acting.â

Armand couldnât explain why. He was afraid of losing Theresa, âNoâ¦â
At the same time, Theresa entered the room. She asked Armand, âWhat are you talking about?â
Armand replied, âNothing. I was asking him what his newlywed life was like.â Armand purposely changed the subject and diverted attention to Boyce. Boyce was speechless.
Theresa said, âBoyce, you got married in such a hurry. I havenât even prepared a gift for you.â
âWell, you can give me the gift some other time,â Boyce said, âSince youâre back, then Iâll go now.â
Boyce got up. He wanted to leave the space for Armand and Theresa.
Armand insulted Boyce, âAre you sure you didnât leave because you miss your newly-minted wife?â
Boyce felt like slapping Armand. He rolled his eyes and said, âI forgive you for Theresa today.â
Armand laughed, âDonât you think my injuries should be the reason youâre forgiving me?â
Boyce scoffed, âYou donât deserve it.â
Boyce then said goodbye to Theresa and left the room.
Theresa approached and asked Armand if he was feeling better.
Armand replied, âIâm feeling better,â and then had Theresa sit down next to him, âAre you tired?â
Theresa shook her head, âIâm not.â
âYou looked tired.â
Armand could see the exhaustion on Theresaâs face. She had not rested well the last few days. Armand patted Theresaâs hand, âTheresa, letâs go register for the marriage tomorrow, and then go home.â
Theyâd had a wedding reception last time, but they hadnât registered for marriage.
âYouâre not recovered yet,â Theresa didnât want him to overthink it.
âIâm fine. I can rest at home, too. I can come to the hospital to take the gauze off my head wound later. Itâs boring at the hospital.â âDoes your doctor agree?â asked Theresa.
Armand replied, âThe doctor agreed. Iâve asked him before.â
âThen have it your way,â Theresa said.
âTheresa, youâre the best,â Armand lifted Theresaâs hand and kissed her hand, âYou took care of me while Iâm the one who should be taking care of you. I feel guilty about that.â
Theresa pouted. After a while, she replied, âWeâre family. Donât act like a stranger. If you feel guilty about it, then treat me better.â
Armand got out of bed. He felt a tingle as he touched some of his wounds, but showed none of it. He hugged Theresa and crawled into her arms. Theresa was afraid to touch his wounds, so she didnât dare hug him back. Theresa sat down next to the bed and said, âArmand, youâre like a child.â
Armand rubbed his face in Theresaâs arms, âThen I will be your son.â Theresa was speechless.
âNonsense,â Theresa couldnât help but laugh.
She patted Armandâs back lightly, and he acted innocent, âIt hurts! I need some love.â
âStop fooling around. Youâre in the hospital now,â Theresa asked Armand to get up, and he did, âIâll ask the nurse to put a bed in the room. You can rest here at night. You havenât rested well the last few days, am I right? Iâve seen the heavy dark circle under your eyes.â
âOkay,â Theresa replied.
Theresa slept in the extra bed at night. She slept peacefully because she had not rested well the last few days. Armand, on the other hand, could not sleep. He got out of bed and walked over to Theresaâs, then looked at her in the dim light.
Armand knew Theresa was unhappy about committing to having children.
Armand stroked Theresaâs hair and smiled. It showed that Theresa loved him and cared about him when he was committed to having children. She didnât want to see him tortured by Elizabeth.
Armand slept next to Theresa that night.
At the same time, Matthew came out of a business meeting. Abbott was originally the manager of this project, but he resigned and couldnât find anyone to replace him, so he had to take over the project himself.
Thatâs why he left work late.
Dolores was still awake. She was waiting for Matthew. Besides, Dolores slept too much during the day, so she didnât feel tired at night.
âDonât wait up. You should go to bed early.â
Dolores said, âI waited because I have something to tell you.â
âWhat is it?â Matthew took off his coat and put it on the chair. Then, he turned to Dolores.
Dolores handed Matthew the invitation on the table, âTake a look at it.â
It looked like a wedding invitation, as it was pink. Matthew opened it and found that his presumption was correct. The wedding was tomorrow, and it invited Matthew and Dolores to the wedding.
Matthew frowned, âBut youâ¦â.
âItâs inappropriate not to go,â Dolores glared at Matthew.
Matthew set the invitation on the floor and sat on the side of the bed. He tugged at his shirt collar and Dolores helped him unbutton his collar. âAre you loaded today, have you been drinking?â
Matthew said, âI had a little to drink. I had to. It was business. Abbott is resigning and I canât find a replacement yet.â
Dolores was surprised, âWhy did Abbott resign?â
Matthew wasnât sure why Abbott resigned either. But it was obvious that he couldnât concentrate and kept making mistakes at work. He really needed some time off.
âWhat do you think?â Matthew knew Dolores wanted to go to the wedding.
Dolores was worried, too. After all, she wasnât exactly in the pink of health, and her due date was near.
Matthew was also overwhelmed with work. Dolores didnât want to bother him.
âIâll call them tomorrow morning,â Dolores helped Matthew take off his shirt, âGo shower and rest. Itâs getting late.â
Matthew stared at Dolores for a while, but ended up not saying anything to her. Then he got up and went into the bathroom.
When Matthew came out of the shower, Dolores was almost asleep. The air conditioning wasnât on and Dolores was feeling hot, so she didnât put on a blanket. Dolores was wearing a white nightgown. She lay flat and her belly looked huge. Matthew came over. He leaned over and caressed Doloresâ belly.
Dolores tugged on Matthewâs shirt.
Matthew looked at Dolores and asked, âWhatâs the matter, didnât you want me to touch it?â.
Dolores smiled. She shook her head and said softly, âNo. Itâs a tickle.â
