Boyce rushed over to him and anxiously asked, âWhat is your condition?â.
The doctor looked at him, âAre you related to the patient?â.
Boyce replied after a pause, âI am.â
âThe patient has serious injuries. You have to be prepared for anything.â After saying that, he pulled out a surgery agreement contract, âYour family has to approve this surgery.â
A loud buzz came over Boyce. He couldnât believe the doctorâs words.
What did he mean by âbe prepared for anythingâ?
âPlease sign him now, or the surgery will be delayed.â He reminded the doctor again.
Boyce snapped back to reality and replied, âIâll sign it.â
It was paramount to save his life first. Armandâs only family member was his mother, and it was not easy to bring her in at this time.
After his signature, Boyce hurriedly called Matthew.
Matthew was also in a hospital, but it was not the same one Armand was in now. Armand had been sent to the nearest hospital from the scene of the accident.
gⱯlnÏνð®ðsâ¤com holds stories for every modo Dolores teased Matthew, âWhat do you mean by âtoast to your loveâ?â
She was curious to hear this phrase at dinner.
Matthew was lying down, but had no intention of answering her.
Dolores was very persistent. She threw herself into his embrace, âIf you donât let go now, Iâm going to bite you.â
Matthew asked, âWhere do you intend to bite me?â
Dolores blinked, and her eyelashes left a huge shadow under the glare of the light. She smiled and poked his lips with her finger, âHow about here?â
Matthew lifted his chin, âThen Iâll let you bite me there.â
Dolores pounced and bit him on the lips as she hugged his face. She didnât bite him very hard, but there was still an imprint of her jaw on his lips.
Matthew reached out and reluctantly touched her face, âYour saliva is on my cheeks.â
âThis is what you get for not telling me.â Dolores pouted, âI should bite you to death.â
Matthew wrapped his arms around her waist and smiled nonchalantly, âThey say a womanâs heart is the most poisonous.â
âOnly now do you know that? Itâs too late now though, Iâve successfully annoyed you and made sure you canât get rid of me anymore.â Dolores leaned back on his arm and stared at the ceiling, âOnly a week to go, and it will be eight months.â
Then she turned and asked him, âAre you looking forward to it?â
Matthew nodded and hugged her sideways. He planted a kiss on her forehead, âHeâs my son too, of course, Iâm looking forward to that day. I missed Samuel and Simona, so I wonât miss this one. I wonât let you be alone. Iâve already asked the doctor and he said I can be with you when you give birthâ¦â
âNo.â
Dolores was against this idea.
She didnât want anyone to be by her side when she gave birth.
The birthing scene was going to be violent and she didnât like the idea of Matthew seeing such a scene.
Matthew seemed to know what she meant, so he simply laughed, âYouâre going to give birth to my son. No matter how you turn out, I will always love you.â
Dolores was still very repulsive, âYou canât.â
Besides, there would be doctors, nurses and other workers there. There would be a lot of people, and from the waist down she would be completely nakedâ¦..
âTell me honestly, do you have any women by your side in the past?â Dolores brought up an old subject again.
She pinched his cheeks, âYou know a lot, donât you? Do you feel guilty for keeping things from me?â Matthew said nothing.
It seemed he couldnât overlook this, could he?
He cleared his throat and said, âWhen I said toasting to love, I meant drinking alcohol.â
âWhat kind of drinking do you mean?â Dolores pursued the subject. It must not be just any drink, or else why that far-fetched name âtoast to your loveâ?
That name was incredibly suspicious.
Matthew mumbled something, âYou mean cross-brewed beerâ¦â.
âStop lying to me.â Dolores wouldnât believe it so naively.
Matthew looked at her out of the corner of his eye, âIâm not finished yet. Youâre interrupting me.â
Dolores fell silent and looked at him with a pressing expression.
Matthew continued, âCross-drinking is only the first stage. In the second stage, a couple would drink kissing, and in the third stageâ¦â
His eyes flicked to Dolores, which made her recoil, âIs there anything even more lewd?â
Matthew nodded solemnly, his eyes studying her.
Dolores asked, âWhat are you looking at?â.
Matthew replied, âNothing.â
He then proceeded to hug her and looked like he wanted to sleep.
Dolores continued to ask, âAre menâs faces that thick when no one is looking?â.
Matthew tightened the hug and said, âI only have a face that thick when Iâm with you.â
âYou know a lot, so who knows, maybe youâve said the same thing to many women in the past.â Dolores naturally believed him, but she just wanted to tease him by pretending to be angry.
Matthew smiled, âThen I will.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âI mean make a silly face in front of other womenâ¦â
âHow dare you!â
Matthewâs grin deepened and he asked, âWhat will happen if I do that?â
Dolores replied fiercely, âIâll cut you to pieces and feed you to the dogs!â. Matthew was speechless.
Why was she so familiar to him?
Wasnât this what she used to say to him in the past?
The two continued to banter for a while before drifting off to sleep with Matthew cuddling her.
In the middle of sleep, they heard the phone ring.
Dolores asked softly, âIsnât that your phone?â.
Matthew fumbled around before finding his phone, and glancing at the caller, he saw that it was Boyce.
He was much more reliable and trustworthy compared to Armand, so he wouldnât call him at that hour without a good reason. Matthew answered the call.
âHello.â
âArmandâs been in an accident, and itâs pretty serious. Heâs having surgery now at the hospital, and Iâm here. I donât know how to deal with this, what should I do?â.
Matthew sat down on the bed and turned on the lamp. He asked again, âWhat did you say?â
âI said Armand had an accident,â Boyce repeated.
Matthew frowned deeply, âHow did he have an accident?â
âDriving drunk.â
Dolores widened her eyes, âWho had an accident?â
âArmand. Iâm going to take a look at things.â Matthew immediately got up and asked for the hospital Boyce was in.
Then he hung up and started looking for his clothes.
Dolores asked, âIs it serious?â
âYes, Boyce is already in the hospital now. If itâs a small wound, he wouldnât have called me.â replied Matthew as he put on his clothes.
After saying that, he reached over and stroked Doloresâ hair, âDonât worry, Boyce and I will take care of everything. You just need to sleep.â
Dolores nodded and after some hesitation, asked, âShould we tell Theresa?â
Matthew mulled it over before concluding, âCall her.â
The two always had a difficult relationship. Maybe this moment was a good opportunity for them. Maybe Theresa would soften.
Dolores nodded, âPlease drive slowly when itâs nighttime. Thereâs no need to rush.â
With this accident of Armandâs, she suddenly felt an uneasiness come over her.
Matthew agreed with her and called Jessica to come, so that there would be someone to reciprocate.
Dolores did not get up, and was unable to get out of bed and walk. When Matthew left, she picked up the phone and called Theresa.
Most people were sound asleep at that point, including Theresa. It was only eleven oâclock when she got home. She had gone to sleep after washing up.
However, she was awakened by the sound of her phone.
She found her phone while it was still a blur and pressed the receive button. âTheresa?â
Dolores called softly.
