Dolores was asleep. Jessica replied to Matthew, âA lady gave them to Dolores when she came to visit.â
âWhatâs her name?â Matthew asked again.
Jessica shook her head, âI donât knowâ¦â.
Dolores slowly opened her eyes as she heard someone talking while she slept. Matthew moved closer to Dolores and whispered, âAre you awake?â.
Dolores rubbed her eyes. She was a light sleeper, âWhy are you back?â.
Matthew didnât answer Dolores, but asked her back, âDid you meet Emma?â.
Did he find out so soon?
Dolores got out of bed, âYou came back to ask me this, how did you find out?â.
Matthew then told Dolores what had happened between Emma and Abbott.
How to tell Dolores some gossip to relieve her boredom. Matthew knew that Dolores was bored with staying in the room all day.
Dolores opened her eyes and was stunned after hearing what Matthew told her. She recovered from her shock after a while, âEmma and Abbott?â
Matthew reached up and tucked Doloresâ hair behind her ears, âAre you surprised?â.
Dolores nodded. She had a feeling something wasnât right.
Dolores told Matthew what she thought, âShe didnât have to sacrifice herself, even if she wanted revenge.â
Dolores couldnât understand why Emma used herself as bait. She could have used another woman instead.
Kind Emma could use the money to pay them back. Emma really didnât need to do it herself.
What was she thinking?
âDid she fall in love with Abbott?â Dolores made a guess.
Women always knew what another woman was thinking. An idea occurred to Dolores when men were clueless.
If Emma hated the man, how could she overcome the resistance and be naked in front of him?
There was only one answer to the question. Emma liked the man, so she willingly offered herself.
Matthew didnât care who Emma liked. It was none of his business.
He was off the subject.
âSo you met Emma? And she gave you these flowers?â Matthew tossed out the same question again.
Dolores nodded, âYes, I met her and she gave me these flowers.â
Matthew said nothing, but picked up the bouquet and asked Jessica to throw it away.
Dolores was speechless.
âWhatâs wrong with flowers?â
Matthew said, âWho knows if she did something to the flowers. What if she hid something in the flowers that endangers your health?â Dolores smiled. Matthew was exaggerating.
âHave you seen too many thrillers?â Dolores watched movies when she felt bored in the living room. Some plots were so complicated they blew her mind.
Everything was a plot.
Matthew didnât have time to watch movies. He thought it was a thing for people who had nothing to do.
âOuch.â
Dolores frowned. Matthew was worried, âStomach ache?â.
Dolores shook her head, âNo, I got a leg cramp.â
Matthew opened Doloresâ blanket and massaged it, âThis one?â Dolores always had cramps in her right leg, so Matthew automatically assumed it was her right leg.
Dolores nodded.
The pain was excruciating.
Massaging the leg only offered relief in the tight muscle. The cramping pain only went away after a while.
Dolores was used to it. She leaned against the headboard of the bed and waited for the pain to go away.
Matthew kept talking to Dolores and tried to distract her, âLetâs have lunch together later, when the children come.â
Dolores said quietly, âHow come theyâre free? Itâs not the weekend today.â
The children used to eat lunch at school. They were sent to school in the morning and only picked up in the evening.
They were only free on weekends or at night.
âI will ask the driver to bring them to have lunch with you. Then, Iâll send them back to school. You havenât seen them for days. You must miss them.â
Dolores nodded.
Matthew called his driver in the afternoon and asked him to pick up the children from the hospital.
Abbott had been looking for Emma all morning, but couldnât find her. He left and cleaned up.
Emmaâs phone was still off. He couldnât reach her.
Boyce then reminded Abbott, âCould you go overseas?â
Abbott didnât think it was possible. Why would Emma go overseas for nothing? Abbott went to check the departure record anyway, even though he didnât believe it at first. Abbott found Emmaâs record, and it showed that she had gone to Canada.
It was easy for him to find out where a person was going in this country, but it was a different thing overseas.
Abbott sat in the office giving up. He didnât understand why Emma had to go.
Abbott was the most discouraged person, other than Armand, now. The happiest person, other than Matthew, was Boyce.
He hadnât married Jasmine, and they had an age difference, but they got along quite well. Jasmine was lively, playful, and mature, while Boyce was dependable. He was quiet when he was home alone.
Jasmine never bothered Boyce when he was busy at work, but when he was free, Jasmine teased him and played with him.
An older man like Boyce was adorable.
Last weekend, Jasmine went to Boyceâs house, but he wasnât home. So she helped him clean his house.
A single manâs house always lacked the warmth of a family. The place seemed dull and lonely.
Jasmine helped Boyce wash his clothes and added some decorative elements to his house. For example, his bed. Jasmine changed his gray sheets and put some warm colored ones on it. She even added some plants and flowers to her house.
Boyce didnât cook at home because he didnât know how to cook. He ate out most of the time. He also ate with the staff when he was at work.
So the kitchen was rarely used.
Jasmine bought a lot of groceries and put them in the refrigerator, where Boyce only used to store water.
After cleaning the house and adding some decorative elements, the house gave a warm and lively look. Now it looked more like a home.
Jasmine was covered in sweat after all the cleaning. Since Boyce wasnât home, Jasmine decided to take a bath in her bathroom.
After taking off her clothes, Jasmine suddenly remembered that she didnât have any clean clothes here, and that she had washed all the towels in the bathroom. They were still on the clothesline on the balcony. Since Boyce wasnât home, Jasmine came out of the bathroom naked. She opened Boyceâs closet and wanted to get a T-shirt to put on.
Jasmine was going to wash her dirty clothes later and dry them in the dryer.
She could put it on after she dried it a little. It wouldnât take her long.
Boyce returned as Jasmine grabbed the shirt from the closet and headed for the bathroom. Jasmine didnât even notice when he came in and stood near her.
